HAD MY MRI now my arm hurts from the needle, which is unusual for me, but then they're usually not putting that much crap into my arm when I get stabbed. SALINE SOLUTION, why do you make my mouth taste weird? HEY. How come everyone tells you all about how claustrophobic it'll be, but no one mentions the damned NOISE? That was way worse, in my opinion.

SO DAY THREE IS TRAVEL. What about it? Well. It is a thing. TRAVELING! Are you a traveling man, make a lot of stops all over the world? Do you own the heart of at least one lovely girl in every part? because if so that's kind of a dick move there bro.

such rambles! )

I'm sorry, that was so incoherent. YOU DESERVED BETTER, [personal profile] tainry I don't feel well and I'm in pain and I'm tired.

First off, here's the pictures on Facebook! Woo!

For those of you in there, if you want me to take anything with you in it down, just send me a note and I'll remove it, no questions. :3

YEAH WELL WE ALL SAW WHAT YOU DID )

That got kind of abrupt but it's getting really late and I have work in the morning okay? Hopefully I didn't forget anything too important! Please let me know if I did!

Also I should've written this like a week and a half ago but, you know, life.
Serious inquiry:

The FFXIV FanFest is in Las Vegas this October, the weekend before TFCon Chicago (which is to say, the 18th and the 19th).

I desperately want to go.

However, I don't particularly fancy the thought of going to Las Vegas completely by myself, my FC members don't seem real interested in attending (though they are more than happy to pile souvenir requests on me), Mom's already planning on hitting Chicago with me, and Dad's already been to Las Vegas (not that I am really that interested in going anywhere with him). Soo...

I've already got a room at the Rio (where the convention is taking place) for the night of Friday (the 17th) and Saturday (the 18th). I plan on flying in Friday night after work, then taking a red-eye home Sunday night.

Is anyone interested in spending a weekend in Vegas?

Oookay. Let's see how long I make it this time! I've gone through the worst of the weirdness (we're now in the overcompensation mode where I am aggressively cheerful but also exceptionally exhausted because faking having energy is dead tiring) so hopefully soon I'll start seeing some real, positive results. Also, I've started taking vitamin D, which is supposed to help? Cautious optimism.

(FFXIV alpha trials are underway here in North America! I am not invited, alas. Maybe next phase!)

Next week! At this time! I will be in CHICAGO. So excited. The "25th Anniverary of Final Fantasy" Distant Worlds concert is on Friday, and I am absolutely going to be there. X3 My trips to and from are a bit convoluted, but they are cheap, so that is okay. I know someone who lives relatively close to the airport there in NYC and she is letting me crash on her couch on Wednesday and Saturday night. yay! I should bring or obtain a gift to express my gratitude. Saving money is awesome. Holidays are coming up, after all, gotta be able to buy... anything.

Actually, I am hoping to make a little extra by selling off more of my Transformers collection (as well as a few Final Fantasy figures). A fair bit of movie and BotCon stuff, as well as other random offerings. More-reasonable-than-eBay prices! Watch this space, if you've any interest.

Also hey speaking of holidays, who wants a card? Please leave a comment here (screened) or PM it to me or something? :3 I do not have energy or inclination to do much in the way of making them myself this year, but I still like to send them out. I have a bunch of pretty designs and nifty stamps.

As mentioned at the end of the previous post, following the closing down of BotCon, a few of us went on to do more things. So here they are!

This post is actually image-heavy, as opposed to links-to-images heavy.

Post-Convention Adventure! )

AND SO ENDED MY DALLAS BOTCON ADVENTURE

My only regret is that I was entirely unable to meet up with Wyntir. :< Maybe next time there will be phone service enough that I can place phone calls and we can arrange something?

(Seriously, it was ridiculous. At one point, I tried to call my taxi and cancel my pick-up Sunday afternoon, and I couldn't do it! So I had to text someone all the information and have them do it.)

NEXT: REAL LIFE THINGS
I messed with Texas. NOW IT HAS VERMONT COOTIES. Also now I have Texas cooties. I suppose some things simply can't be avoided.

Now, though, it is finally time for me to post my write-up! It took me a week because I got back home to both peak allergies and insane work scheduling, so I have been very busy trying to not pass out everywhere. And also watching The Avengers repeatedly because oh shit how awesome is that movie? PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY.

ANYWAY. If you just want the photo dump, it can be found here on Facebook. Elsewise, read on for entirely too much blathering on my part.

BotCon write-up + too many pictures )

WORDS. WORDS EVERYWHERE. I will have an update on my life later, because shit done gone down or... something (it is nothing so dramatic as that implies).

I went to Pittsburgh! IT WENT BADLY.

... not... not Pittsburgh, itself. Just the going there part. Pittsburgh was fine. Hopefully next time will go better! Hopefully there is a next time.

HARROWING! )

But now I have a cold, which I am 100% certain I picked up in the airport on Saturday, and also my back is, I don't know, failing or something. I woke up this morning in so much pain! D:

But I had an early-ish shift, and I had to go to my therapy appointment, anyway, but then I got to work and was totally useless and in pain and ended up just sitting in a corner and crying at one point, so they sent me home after a whopping hour and a half.

AND HERE IN BED I HAVE REMAINED (well, aside from when I've been trying to do stretches on the floor). Man, I hope I feel better tomorrow.

But for now here is this entry, which I figured I should get up before I go outta town again on Friday.

... fortunately, we're driving, not flying.

NOW IF ONLY I GET TO COME HOME AGAIN TO MY FLUFFY LITTLE CATFACE? (Remember, it was during my trip to New York last year to visit my brother that "the worst thing ever" tagged events happened.) uuugh. SAZY, DON'T GO. :( :( :(
Hello! I survived my trip! I have many things to say about it, not all of them particularly nice.

But I am also really, really tired, because air travel is somehow exhausting.

So instead I leave you with this burning question:

Has Lightning always had her bellybutton pierced, or is this one of those weird, one-off, promotion art-only kinda deals?

... no, really, I'm serious.
jecca_mehlota: (Are you for real?)

I'm clearly never going to finish the trip write-up (largely because FUCK HTML) and, honestly, who cares? Here are the (one, two) photo albums on Facebook, if you're actually curious. (Yes, yes, I did finally change my Facebook name to my name. It took less than twelve hours for people I was not friends with in high school to try to friend me. I will probably change it back soon if this keeps up.)

I will tell the two crazy stories, though! )

SO END THE TRIP HIGHLIGHTS I guess

(no wait one more thing. these are crazy awesome.)

Anyway, last night I was up forever because there was this stupid nasty spider hiding behind my headboard and it was playing peek-a-boo or something because I'd throw a book at it and come away dead-spider-less and it would disappear and I would side-eye the wall for a while, and then look away for a bit and then look back and THERE IT WOULD BE AGAIN rinse repeat and then around 4:15 I cracked and went into the kitchen and got the can of spider killer (last used to purge the baby spiders from the ceiling in the old place, ugh ugh ugh) and sprayed it all over the place behind the headboard and under the bed and everywhere.

And then I had to sit in the other room until it dried and I could go to bed finally at like 5am. It was not fun. And now my internal clock is borked. boo.
I guess Chicago and the following week+ of superstress burnt me out more than I'd thought? Actually, Chicago was amazing. I meant to write up a post about it earlier. Oops. (I've meant to do a lot of things lately. None of it's been happening. It's troublesome.)

Not actually image heavy, but still long. )

In short, if you ever get a chance to attend a Final Fantasy concert - ie, if they're ever anywhere near you (and assuming you care about the games/music) - DO IT DO IT DO IT RIGHT NOW WHY HAVE YOU NOT BOUGHT YOUR TICKET ALREADY.

And now I need to go to bed. Hopefully tomorrow I get about catching up on things, eh? (And maybe I'll have the energy to tell you all about my exciting - that is, stressful - that is, SE dropped the ball again - weekend! And maybe Dark of the Moon, which I keep typing as dork...)

I said "by Friday" and teeechnically it is not Friday yet in other places! Like California! Which was where I was when I said that. So, fair's fair, right? It's not late.

...A-anyway, if anyone wants larger copies, I have those. Also, if anyone wants their picture taken down, I will, of course, respect that.)

I survived the weekend! And the flights home! And then working immediately after flying a red-eye. I have not done much besides sleep and work the last two days, but I am actually feeling awake now, so let's try and tackle this massive trip post.

SO MANY WORDS and also pictures )

Here's a link to 'em, instead.
Okay, here's the actual photo-spam post from BotCon. (Please note that due to pictures of Real People and me not knowing how they feel about it, the first half - posted second - is under friends lock.)

Do I really need to warn for excess images? )

OH MY GOD SO MUCH IMG SRC.
Oooh, my goodness, I was so exhausted Monday. Flew a red eye back from Pasadena and I still can't sleep on airplanes or in airports. So take a nap when you get home, right? Ah, but no. I got home around 11:30 and I had work at 2, which I had to leave for at 1, and, really, I did not trust myself to wake up if I fell asleep. So I went to work, went home, passed out in my computer chair, woke up a few hours later, got into my pjs, and went to bed properly. AND THEN WOKE UP EARLY 'cause I had to go visit my brain doctor and then work all afternoon. And then I fell asleep in my computer chair again, ugh. But I had nothing this morning, so I got lots of sleep last night and am finally feeling almost coherent again. Yay! I still plan on crashing early tonight, though. (Thankfully, I seem to have escaped the convention plague that lots of other people have come down with. Sorry to all you who were less fortunate, though! D:)

But, exhaustion aside (it happened after the fact, anyway. Who cares if I'm asleep on my feet at work?), OH MAN. I had so much fun at BotCon. ALL THE FUN. (I have a write-up / pic-spam post in the works, but it's long and time-consuming and I'm sick of typing code, so here's this one, instead.) I met so many awesome people and had such a fantastic time and eee. eee

(Speaking of all you awesome people, I have a few entries you may or may not want to read? One is a basic "intro to Jecca/'s journal" from one of the friending memes and the other is just something that comes up more than I'd like in regards to my comment-leaving habits.)

Anyway, it's 90 degrees or so with too much humidity, so I'm going to go not sit in front of the computer for a while.

( May. 31st, 2011 11:50 pm)
I am a tremendous idiot sometimes. Today is the third time, now, that I have neglected to grab the travel suitcase from the attic at my parents' house! So I've just selected and set aside the stuff I need to pack, and tomorrow Mom will bring one by on her way to work. And then I will throw everything in it! And then go to work, myself. And then go to a concert after work! And then go to sleeeeep and wake up at 5 am and go to the airport why do I do this to myself whyyyy. AND THEN WEEKEND OF ROBOTS and then a red eye and oh, right, does anyone need/want anything from BotCon? ...And possibly then work again Monday afternoon! I hope not, I do not want to be a zombie.

I found more cutscenes in FFXIV (screenshots'll go up a bit later, in the usual place, for those interested. I'm gonna try for tomorrow, but no promises. It might have to wait until next week)! God, I wish this game could be less terrible, because I am so, so intrigued by the plot. And also it's pretty and I am shallow sometimes. AND NOW IT IS SUCH A HUGE AND BORING AND UUUUGH WHY level grind to 20, but, you know what? Woodsin's gone, first major plot arc's resolved, maybe I'll just call it a day/adventuring life. mmm, delicious retirement.

NOTHING ELSE EXCITING HAVE SOME VIDEOLINKS.

holy shit this guy has built really awesome scale models I am in awe these are just jaw-droppingly incredible South Sandy Victory Square and Windurst Walls! Supposedly he plans on doing a part of Bastok at some point, too...?

ALSO. THIS ONE IS SO PRETTY I LOVE MY FICTIONAL VIDEO GAME WORLD it is pretty spectacular.

... uh. AND SOME RANDOM OTHER ONES not that I'm procrastinating or anything:

Chains of Promathia: The Epic HELLS YES AWESOME

Everyone else has one so we should, too! (this is so stupid ...but, man, the thing is, considering the ToAU cast, this isn't even out of character. Hell, it's probably a requirement.) (hahaha, I love the doubletake the guy in the back does around 2:40.)

HEY LOOK THIS ONE IS Crisis Core. Uh. The song's kinda cliché, but IT IS SO AWESOME. And, uh, some spoilers, I guess, but it's not like most of it really has any context. Maybe I just like the full-circle thing that the game has and that is shown pretty well here, too.

Man, I should go to bed. But I need to unearth my Zen and charge it for the plane. And edit the playlists a little. raglrarafg preparing for trip
The radio keeps blipping out because of all the storms we're having. It's kind of irritating and the here-gone of it is making me pay it more attention than usual. Background noise, you are supposed to only be background noise. You know, that stuff that keeps my brain just occupied enough for me to focus on things I want to focus on, ie, other things, ie, NOT YOU? Maybe it'll settle by the time I get to bed. For now? WINAMP.

I'm having a very, very hard time interpreting my own emotional state these days. It's very disconcerting and I don't like it a bit. I don't - I don't feel bad, or anything, I just - I do not know how I feel. Is this just an absence of angst? (If so, how sad that I don't know how to recognise such a thing.) Maybe I am not feeling at all. I don't know. I'm so confused. I feel like I need instructions, or a cheat sheet or something, which is ridiculous, because I shouldn't need a goddamn roadmap for my own brain.

(Possibly it is almost as disconcerting as the ending of tonight's episode of Doctor Who! Possibly. Maybe.)

I've been secretly learning how to decorate cakes. My manager is not aware of this. Nobody tell her! I've done a little bit of base-icing (not - not very good base-icing, erm), and I can make borders, and squiggles, and balloons, and rosebuds! And some other stuff, but nothing fancy, really. And the other night, I watched how to make a rose, but I did not actually make one, myself. But! hee! Tonight, while I was closing by myself, a guy came up, and he wanted to know if I could add a rose to a cake he wanted to buy, and he was nice about it, and I was actually running ahead of schedule (for once), so I said, um, if you really want, I can try! I have never actually made one before, but I have seen how it is done! And he was like, sure.

AND THEN I DID IT. SUCCESSSSS. And then I made another one, 'cause I could. I am so pleased. I mean, they were not, like, the best roses in the world, or anything, but they were roses and they were made by me, and I am kind of irrationally pleased with myself.

Man, this time next week, I'm going to be in Pasadena OD'ing on robots. Time flies. (In four weeks, I am going to be in CHICAGO. omg. So excited. Bummed that I'm going alone, too, but the excitement outweighs it by quite a lot.)

... Also I killed a huge spider with a DVD case the other night (I suspect the rain chased it - and the others I've encountered, though those weren't in my room - inside. TOO BAD. GET OUT), but I didn't smear it, just squashed it, and now I'm being too squeamish to pick up its nasty spider corpse, so the poor thing's body is just lying on the floor across my room waiting for me to, I don't know, fetch a vacuum or something and deal with it, already.

Actually, I bet the spider-grabber works just fine on spider corpses. Hmm.

Maybe I will go to bed early tonight. I'm tired. The heat and the rain conspire against me. (I had bizarre dreams last night. My normal dreams are usually pretty mundane, but the rare fandom-related ones I have are always really damned strange.)
I really need to finish unpacking (I AM MOSTLY DONE OKAY), but instead I have spent today jumping through hoops and navigating menus over the phone! It has been kind of a pain! But I have finally secured flights to and from Pasadena for this summer, yaaay!

So then it was on to Chicago! Which was still stressing me out because everything I know about Chicago is that THEY HAVE AN AIRPORT AND I HAVE HAD PLANE TRANSFERS THERE AND ALSO THEY USED TO SELL RETIRED BEANIE BABIES AT ALL THE SHOPS (hey, that was important information for a thirteen year-old who wanted all the cats). Whoo? And trying to figure out things about public transportation and ... uh, well, everything, basically, for a city I am completely unfamiliar with is hard (I am totally useless at decoding rail maps, and most of the public transport I'll be using is RAIL!, so it tells me the blue line, aka the one that runs to the airport, stops at [station x] and so then I have to go find out where that is, and then compare it to all the hotels I've been looking at and then I also have to check all the hotels for transportation to the middle of downtown and basically I get confused and then frustrated) and I am whiny. And then, haha, I was complaining about it over AIM (as you do) and it turns out one of the people I know from FFXI, who currently lives in New York, is originally from Chicago, so now I have a pretty good idea of what is what, and thus what I am doing! And so I am going to make hotel arrangements and buy my transportation tickets (probably more plane, ugh) later tonight! Right now I am still looking at price information. Man, I should'a gone off over AIM weeks ago. (I AM SO EXCITED FOR JUNE YOU GUYSSSS. IT'S WHEN ALL THE AWESOME STUFF HAPPENS. ...OH MAN, two months from today I will already be back home from BotCon. Wow, haha, it's weird to think of things that way.)

MEANWHILE, IN UNPACKING NEWS, I have unpacked ... most everything I will be able to for now! My desk did not fit as nicely as I'd have liked, so it was sent home to live in the attic for now, and I am going to have to track down a new desk! (Though I already have two potential ones which I could have, so it is more a matter of making a choice.) But my desk held a lot of my stuff, like my art supplies and important papers and all my writing utensils and also my PS2 and Dreamcast and TV and computer! So most all of that stuff is still sitting around in boxes!

But my books and video games (okay, okay, this is exciting, I have a shelf solely dedicated to video game stuff now and it is SO AWESOME) and DVDs and CDs and miscellaneous computer supplies and clothing are all unpacked and put nicely away! And so are ALL THE ROBOTS. And so is most of my food! Kitchen supplies are still boxed 'cause we're going to all go through them and pull out what we need and rebox what we've already got and then send it to the basement. We just have not had time for it yet.

MAN, WHAT A BORING ENTRY. I started playing Dissidia 012 the other night, I will probably start posting about that soon. LESS BORING?

Edit:
ALL BOOKED WOOHOO!

Also, I am so proud. My brother is ranting at me about his classmates' comma usage (or lack thereof). WE DO BELIEVE IN THE OXFORD COMMA. WE DO, WE DO, WE DO.
I need to just bite the bullet and start crossposting.

I meant to put these up here, but now I don't have the energy for it, but! I did write (excessively) about my trip to Florida/Disney/BotCon! I will at least link to them.

HOORAY WE ALL SURVIVED. NOW I CAN FINALLY GO TO BED. Because I was stupid and said NO FINISH THE ENTRY.

Though, I swear I keep hearing something moving around outside and it's really freaking me out, so maybe I won't be sleeping as much as I'd like. Boo.

I'm not sure here at the beginning if this is going to be one post or two. Either way, I'm going to go on about travel, the hotel, and Disney before I talk about BotCon, because, uh. BECAUSE. SO THERE. Mostly this means I just swap Friday afternoon and Friday night. Also, I can't be bothered to try and upload all of these things to Photobucket, so I'm going to try directly linking from Facebook. We'll see how it goes! Whee.

PART 1: Tuesday (travel) and Wednesday (Animal Kingdom) )

Okay, that is so ridiculously long. The good news is, Animal Kingdom had, by far, the most pictures. A solid half, at least. So I might be able to fit the rest into one entry tomorrow, or maybe it'll be another two more, but either way, it will not be as ridiculously long as this one. Waugh. @_@

And if you don't care or just want to see all the pictures NOW, Disney / non-BotCon pics are all in this album and BotCon pics are all in THIS album!

oh god i hope i did all those links correctly OR RATHER THAT LJ DOESN'T EAT THEM, WHICH IT DID, AND IT TOOK ME HALF AN HOUR TO FIX THEM ALL. (And I don't even know that I caught them all, but at least it's not full of ERROR messages now.) Man, I hope someone actually reads these. Otherwise this was an epic waste of time an energy. XD
