I guess Chicago and the following week+ of superstress burnt me out more than I'd thought? Actually, Chicago was amazing. I meant to write up a post about it earlier. Oops. (I've meant to do a lot of things lately. None of it's been happening. It's troublesome.)

Not actually image heavy, but still long. )

In short, if you ever get a chance to attend a Final Fantasy concert - ie, if they're ever anywhere near you (and assuming you care about the games/music) - DO IT DO IT DO IT RIGHT NOW WHY HAVE YOU NOT BOUGHT YOUR TICKET ALREADY.

And now I need to go to bed. Hopefully tomorrow I get about catching up on things, eh? (And maybe I'll have the energy to tell you all about my exciting - that is, stressful - that is, SE dropped the ball again - weekend! And maybe Dark of the Moon, which I keep typing as dork...)
DISCLAIMER: I’m not even trying to claim this was a quality film. It’s not artistic and it doesn’t have some deeper meaning. But I enjoy it, anyway! I know it has problems, but I think it’s a fun film! You are fully welcome to disagree with me! You can even inform me of that, and you are, of course, free to ask me to explain anything in this post (or not in this post) that you want. But kindly don’t tell me I’m an idiot for enjoying it.

And. I’m sick or something (headache verging on migraine yesterday, my throat is ruined today…), so I’m really not sure if this is half as coherent as it seems to me. Sorry!

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen )

And this is where I’m stopping, because this is way too long as is and it’s late and I’m tired and not feeling well (and a little bit loopy on decongestants). SO THERE.

I've just returned from a Grand Adventure up into Canada. MONTREAL! Why, you ask? .... because that is where the closest IMAX theater is and I am hopeless.

I'd wanted to see the first Transformers film on the IMAX screen (there were a couple extra scenes! But mostly because GIANT ROBOTS ON MASSIVE SCREEN WHEE) but life didn't allow for it. This time, though... I got lucky! So we purchased our tickets online, then got on the road (an hour later than intended...) and, well. Drove in a mostly-northern direction.

And, for the first time in my life, we were hassled at the border to cross into Canada. Only a little, but still! Was truly strange. Metro'd into the city itself and marched to the theater, got great seats, had the best time ever. GIANT ROBOTS. MASSIVE SCREEN. Amazing sound and video quality! And then we basically turned around and drove home again, and got hassled at the border coming back in (but, of course, that one is to be expected, and it wasn't as bad as it's been before), stopped and had dinner at a cute little diner which served delicious food, and... now I am back! And it was awesome and both my parents agree that it was pretty awesome (my mother had seen it before, but my father had not), and basically it was a lot of fun! I keep meaning to write a proper entry about my thoughts on the movie. It'll probably never happen.

In other news, my brother had decided he’d come down with H1N1 (they really couldn’t have come up with a better name? And they wonder why people still use “swine”?), but then found out strep is also going around, so maybe he’s only contracted that, instead. Either sucks. Ugh, I hate strep (I might hate H1N1, too, but having never had it, it’s hard to say). (And, of course, it's entirely possible he just has a cold or it's allergies or something. WHO KNOWS.)

And, meanwhile, outside, there is a cat wandering around whose meowing sounds startlingly like someone calling “Hello?” Like a kid, and just repeating it over and over. It's been out there since yesterday, aside from during (most of) the thunderstorm we had.
OKAY SO OMG IT WAS AWESOME SHUT UP THAT IS NOT A SPOILER IT IS AN OPINION

DUDE.

OKAY.

The cinema I went to - not the only one doing a midnight opening in this state - was not only sold out. It was sold out FOUR TIMES. FOUR TIMES! They sold out their first showing and opened another, and then another, and then another, and they had all sold out. I had not been aware they had four screenings! (I WAS IN THE ONE THAT ACTUALLY STARTED AT MIDNIGHT, but there were 12:05, 12:10, and 12:15 showings, as well.)

WTF HOW AM I IN A POPULAR FANDOM. WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN. I AM SO CONFUSED I seriously spent the thirty minutes I sat waiting for the movie to start going "What the hell how are there so many people here?"

Because the midnight screening of the first movie had like... twenty people at it, tops. (And six of them where there because I dragged them there. Well, okay, five. One of them was me. Though I suppose technically I dragged myself there, as well.)

They showed the trailer for 9 which made me go YAY and the trailer for Avatar which made me go "eeeerg" and start whispering things to my mother, and then they showed a disaster flick trailer and the G.I. Joe one. And then they showed us the movie and I was FULL OF GLEE FOR TWO AND A HALF HOURS AND NOW I AM SUPPOSED TO SLEEP? THAT IS PROBABLY NOT HAPPENING!

THANK GOD I DO NOT HAVE TO GET UP AND GO BOATING TOMORROW OR I WOULD PROBABLY DIE.

Instead I can go see it again or something, or maybe I'll be able to pass out before the sun rises I don't know I AM SO WOUND RIGHT NOW AREN'T YOU GLAD IN 2007 THAT I WAS IN PROVIDENCE AND NOT ANYWHERE NEAR A COMPUTER OR INTERNET ACCESS AFTER THEY SHOWED US THE MOVIE EARLY? I literally sat on my cot in the hotel room grinning and unable to calm down for like an hour and it was so much worse than this because of convention buzz and the first time I'd ever seen them on the big screen at all and because it was the best movie-watching experience of my life and and and I AM SORRY I LOVE MY FANDOM SO MUCH OKAY? I KNOW NONE OF YOU CARE ABOUT IT BUT I DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR NOT CARING.

Oh. I'm talking about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (the new movie), in case you, you know, didn't know that. Seeing as how I've not actually mentioned that yet.

And yes of course it had its problems and places where I was going 'dear lord enough already' and everything but... oh for god's sake i shouldnt feel like i have to defend my liking something on my own damn journal SO I AM NOT GOING TO RIGHT NOW

(GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)

AND WHILE I'M HERE SQUEEING OVER TRANSFORMERS, yesterday Amazon sent me an e-mail telling me they'd shipped my copy of the score, so it could be here as early as tomorrow! er. Today! Which is a week and a half sooner than they'd estimated shipping it which is, while not entirely surprising, still pretty awesome.

I was doing so well not being overexcited, but then last night while waiting for Top Gear, I said to my brother, "Forty minutes!" and, to continue it, then added jokingly, "And 53 hours until Transformers!"

...and now I'm stuck on it. LESS THAN TWO DAYS! But I'm not sure if this is because I started it last night or if this would have happened, anyway, since going to see it is the next notable thing I know will be happening to me.

Looks like we might be having thunderstorms this week, but of course Wednesday is the only other clear day in the current forecast. SOMEONE HERE MAY FIND HERSELF REGRETTING A MIDNIGHT SHOWING OF A TWO AND A HALF HOUR MOVIE COME 7 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING.

..... Who am I kidding? No, I won't.

Edit:
Potential sleep deprivation crisis averted! They have meetings. THERE WILL BE NO WEDNESDAY BOATING ABOUT. ha ha!

I just wrote up a massively passive-aggressive post because I am feeling very angry right now and needed to get it out of my system, but now I have deleted it, because I'm reasonable enough to know that actually putting it up would've been a bad idea. Instead, I am going to try and continue behaving like a reasonable person and talk it out. Or something.

I still want to throw things and scream, though. (Which means I should probably act on this sooner rather than later, because this level of aggravation is the first step towards me snapping, and that never ends well for anyone.)

Of course, posting just these few paragraphs probably counts as passive-aggressive behaviour but OH GOD I NEED TO GET IT OUT OF MY SYSTEM I AM ANNOYED OKAY? OKAY.

So, let's change the subject before I start typing in a furious rage again! The new Transformers movie came out in some parts of the world today! Not here, obviously! This will be an exciting test of my ability to continue to dodge spoilers without full-out evacuating the fandom (and the internet in general). Nostalgia for 2007 is also setting in. Man! An initial (early, in that case) viewing in a room / entire cinema full of pretty much nothing but other Transformers fans was just the best thing ever.

I AM GOING BACK TO PLAYING FFXII NOW. Or I would be if there weren't a million other things I have to do first. AAAAND WE'RE BACK TO BEING BITTER THAT WAS FAST.

... Maybe I will find something to read first. That could be a nice distraction. Please let there be something new - and decent - to read. Somewhere. Anywhere.

This entry is the biggest waste of time ever, dear lord.

Done with my subject line game. For now. It'll be back.

I have tricked my mother into taking me to the midnight opening showing of Transformers. Oh, to have a car. Or to know people with cars. Or for public transportation to run after 8 pm. Any'd be nice.

Also, the score has leaked. (Most of the tracks on the soundtrack - can't we just have on disk? - are already out on the radio. Score = the pretty instrumental tracks. Soundtrack = the vocal stuff.) I confess to being a bit of a score/soundtrack/THE NOISES IN THE BACKGROUNDS OF THE THINGS junkie but, in an amazing display of willpower, I have not downloaded it. My copy of the score is on preorder with Amazon, and I'm not really keen on downloading things, anyway, and it's ... not supposed to be out yet, and the sound quality is probably not very good and CAN YOU TELL I AM JUST TRYING TO CONVINCE MYSELF, NO, NO YOU SHOULDN'T DO THAT. I won't. But man, I wish people would stop blabbering about how awesome it is on public forums. KEEP IT AWAY FROM ME. I don't care what you write about on your journal, but come on, at least stop mentioning the track titles because SOME OF THOSE ARE SPOILERY or use the spoiler tags or, hey, don't post it on the forums and if you're on a community USE A CUT OR SOMETHING please? Please? I have gone relatively unspoiled so far, and having seen some of the track titles at this stage of the game, I am now kind of annoyed. There was no reason for that. I am sad. wah wah. crai moar. Aniko, if you decide to seek out and download that, I don't want to hear it or about it.

Since we're already here and talking about giant robots, I wore one my my Transformers shirts yesterday and got a couple comments/compliments on it. AWESOME. One person actually seemed to be a member of the fanbase, instead of just someone familiar with the characters, and we had a (very, very) brief chat while waiting for the crosswalk light to change. That was kind of fun.

... "tf:tm 2k7" doesn't really apply anymore, since it's become a trilogy and so there are Transformers movies coming out in not 2007. I need to change that tag. This comment will made no sense shortly after I post this entry BUT OH WELL I AM PUTTING IT HERE ANYWAY.

And now a special message from Kihara: "BEHEMOTH BEHEMOTH BEHEMOTH BEHEMOTH BEHEMOTH BEHEMOTH."
So I am not dead. Hooray! Actually, it went far better than I was expecting it to! Also, I was given a really nice letter after the meeting that was supposed to have been mailed but obviously never was. It's been a while since I've received a real letter, and this one was really... heartfelt, I guess.

It was fairly touching, but at the same time, a bit upsetting. A lot of it was apologies for behavior from three years ago, and none of it was even anything I'd held a grudge against. It is a very... strange situation, but not one I can be at all upset about. I suspect at least one person would be upset at me, knowing I was associating with her again, but honestly I'd be hard pressed to care less. It was also a bit disconcerting to discover she seemed to have been under the impression that I may have been angry with her (similar to what I'd been thinking in regards to her).

My brother likes to play Grand Theft Auto. He also likes to mod his games, and in one of them - San Andreas, perhaps - he's started to go in and replace all the old and boring cars he never uses with sports cars and super cars. He's thrown in, among other things, some model of Porsche (he couldn't remember what) and the Lamborghini Gallardo (and perhaps the Murciélago? Maybe he only considered that one). He's also got the Toyota Supra in there. He has also modified those mods.

Mostly the Lambo, though. He wanted faster, so he went in and changed the top speed to 2000 kph with 150 acceleration. He then went to take it to the airport to test it out, but discovered that the car couldn't keep up with the acceleration. So then he altered the traction - only in the wrong direction! So the car barely moved at all.

Because obviously the solution to too much acceleration is not to cut the acceleration but to boost the traction.

He got it right eventually, with maxed out traction... and so of course he then bumped the acceleration up to 300 because obviously what else would you do? He went on about the insane speed and power he had in that car, and I told him he was starting to remind me a bit of Jeremy Clarkson and asked him if he'd considered getting a Ford GT mod, or perhaps a Bugatti Veyron.

Saw Transformers again this evening while Dad went to the new Harry Potter (he was unimpressed). I hadn't noticed before, but when Jazz goes to revert to vehicle mode, it struck me as another G1 throwback, with him diving at the pavement and folding his arms under. Not sure, though, might've been making it up in my head. Also, I am still oddly enamoured with the little whirly-clicky sound Ratchet makes as he transformers. I couldn't tell you why even if my life depended on it.

I am back! And entirely too tired to be awake typing this.

But the new Transformers movie is released today! The second! I saw it at BotCon and plan on seeing it again later today, and I recommend with all my being that everyone see it.

Seriously, it's fantastic. It looks spectacular, the characters are all wonderful, it's funny enough (there are a lot of G1 references and throw-backs that most people probably won't get, but oh, how I loved them)... the plot's a little weak, I suppose, but this is Transformers and plot has always been kind of optional. (haha, oh, G1-cartoon. Beast Wars however, was fantastic. Watch that, too.)

I'm serious. Sell a kidney if you must, but see this movie.

The fact that, should this movie do well, they will make a sequel does not, of course, have any impact at all on my adamant stance that everyone everywhere needs to see it.

... They already won the fanbase, and really, that was the hard one.

I will write up a post about BotCon later, when I am awake.

Tickets for the Transformers movie have gone on sale, so I took inventory tonight on who wants to go with me for the midnight showing. I'll pick the tickets up tomorrow after work. The real question here is, "Jecca, you're going to be seeing the movie at Botcon, so do you really need to see it again on opening night?" and the answer is, of course, yes.

Also, store managers? Please either get the bakery a new oven or a second oven, because the one we've got? Isn't cutting it. In the nine-or-so months I've been there, we've had to get it repaired four times or so, for the same reason! It randomly decides it doesn't want to work, cools down and refuses to heat back up, and then refuses to light.

Then we are stuck with racks of things that need to be refrozen and empty shelves, and no one likes that.

We made it safely there and back!

Tomorrow I will upload a giant post that rambles on about it all. It will probably be friends-locked because I will probably feel the need to spam images (and perhaps a few video clips, depending on my mood) and I'm not sure how my friends and family feel about me putting them up for every and anyone to see.

We stopped on the other side of the border to poke around (we usually do), and we ended up in a massive Wal*Mart. No Alternators (well, no, of course not), but I encountered a fellow Transformers fan in the toy aisle! (This was a first for me! The only people I know who are Transformers fans are people I have converted.) He pointed me towards a store over some other way and they had a few Alternators (no Ravage or Rumble, no surprise). That they had any was amazing, though seeing another Meister wasn't much of a surprise. But they had three Mirages! That was surprising. Liz bought the Meister and one of the Mirages.

I read books! And I talk about them! )

Anyway, I suppose I will need to take the next several days to slowly catch up on whatever happened while I was away from the internet. Wheeha.

Also, I have been unable to consistently speak English for the last three or so days, so if there are random Not English words in here, I am very sorry. I think I caught them all, but augh. Brain.
