I GOT A JOB OFFER FROM THE BANK

OH MY GOD

YOU GUYS

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL THE GOOD THOUGHTS YOU HAVE SENT ME OVER THE YEARS AS I HAVE SEARCHED FOR A NEW JOB

I CANNOT EVEN
My power-hungry laptop is on battery power right now, so let's see if I can actually get this entry up before it passes out on me.

Anyway! I hope everyone had a good Sunday / Christmas! Full of awesome things and stuff not being on fire (my current personal favourite, that last one). I will write up a longer entry on that whole drama later, but since my computer is a BATTERY VAMPIRE, and because it is late and I am tired, I am going to be quick!

GUYS.

GUYS I GOT MY #1 CHRISTMAS LIST ITEM.

PLAYSTATION 3

(Just in time for them to announce the PS4, I am sure, but WHATEVER.)

SO EXCITED.

And I wanted to share my **EXCITEMENT**

Aaand, as I always do when I get a new gaming toy, I would like to request some game recommendations! I own a few already (I will list them below), and I have a list of stuff I want to get already (though they aren't all out yet), but what are your thoughts, you people who might have some?

Games owned:
Final Fantasy XIII
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection
Little Big Planet 2
Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One
Sonic Generations
Transformers: War for Cybertron

GLEE!
I guess Chicago and the following week+ of superstress burnt me out more than I'd thought? Actually, Chicago was amazing. I meant to write up a post about it earlier. Oops. (I've meant to do a lot of things lately. None of it's been happening. It's troublesome.)

Not actually image heavy, but still long. )

In short, if you ever get a chance to attend a Final Fantasy concert - ie, if they're ever anywhere near you (and assuming you care about the games/music) - DO IT DO IT DO IT RIGHT NOW WHY HAVE YOU NOT BOUGHT YOUR TICKET ALREADY.

And now I need to go to bed. Hopefully tomorrow I get about catching up on things, eh? (And maybe I'll have the energy to tell you all about my exciting - that is, stressful - that is, SE dropped the ball again - weekend! And maybe Dark of the Moon, which I keep typing as dork...)
jecca_mehlota: (...whatever.)

Squeenix, wtf are you even doing to this poor game? I mean, good on them for admitting that Eorzea needs serious, serious work (they really released it entirely too early), and I am pleasantly surprised they are going so far as to continue to not charge people for it, but... come on, this is hilarious.

I went and saw Megamind earlier this week. It was so, so much better than I thought it was going to be! (It was more of a process of elimination than any of us wanting to see it. The planning went -> We're bored, so let's do something -> ooh, movie! -> what is showing -> those sound stupid -> Megamind it is!) So I was just like, oh, whee, another supervillain redemption-whatever movie, but then it was amazing and I loved it, and also the characters were great (and! I really liked how they handled the girl / designated damsel in distress, but explaining why is, you know, full of spoilers, so not now). Highly recommend seeing it, if you get a chance!

AND NOW WORK AGGRAVATION I was bothered by a rude old man at work and it was annoying. And then he ran crying to management before I could offer to figure something out for him. He wanted icing put on some doughnuts, which, uh. I've never seen icing on the type he wanting it put on, so after figuring out what it was he even wanted - BE CLEAR DAMN IT - I started to explain to him that I'd never heard of such a thing, and that while I in no way did not believe that he'd had it done before (he kept insisting that THEY DO IT FOR HIM ALL THE TIIIIME because, yeah, no one who says that is ever lying...), I couldn't just run off and do it, and I didn't even get that far, much less get into my offering to track down a manager and ask them about it. OH NO, WE NEED TO GO FILE A COMPLAINT. I think the person he dragged over understood that I wasn't trying to make a fuss, but, still. Unamused. And going to talk to my department manager tomorrow, just in case.

... huh. I've just gone through my list of tags (trying to remember how I phrased one, and I don't remember all of these. Are people actually creating/adding tags to some entries, or am I just loosing my mind?
I have a thing.

I need name suggestions for it )

I've had, like, no sleep the last couple days, and I have a full shift tomorrow. uuugh. Hopefully I can pass out quickly tonight.

I went with my mother and brother (who is home again, obviously, if I'm going places with him) to see Avatar tonight and woah.

Okay, yes, the plot was hopelessly predictable and a bit heavy-handed in its message at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway because it was so beautiful. The CG is... unbelievable, really, I kept forgetting that everything was computer generated. Also, the 3D, while a bit more expensive? Is completely worth it, in my opinion (not that I've seen it otherwise, but). I am too cold, tired, and excited to be more coherent.

SO I AM GOING OVER THERE TO GLEE ABOUT IT NOW.
If all goes according to plan, I will be mailing everything tomorrow! I... I must say I am sorry in advance to one of you. Y-you will probably know who you are when what I am sending you arrives.

(Sometimes I think I might be a bad person, and then I do things like this and confirm it but I can't entirely say I regret this. So actually I'm not entirely sorry.)

IN OTHER NEWS, since I didn't mention this last entry 'cause I forgot somehow, I - I. omg. I know it's still waaaay to early to make any assumptions, but eee! (On Cybertron?! SO AWESOME. Also, it seems that we'll be getting toys - or at least toy - based on it!)

(I nearly dropped my copy of Game Informer when I got to the article in it, since I got my copy before seeing the thread at the Allspark. WHAT? IS THIS REAL?) (The subtitle of the article is, "The hunt for a good Transformers game travels to the robot homeworld" and I admit I laughed a bit too much at that "good" part.)

Hopefully it is better than the movie games have been. (I've heard the second game was better than the first, but I couldn't be bothered to buy it.)
NaNo? What NaNo? (LIE. I’ve been working on it. I just also have been raging over Maine pulling a California – WTF, MAINE – and powering my way through ReBoot.) WHILE WE’RE ON THE SUBJECT of my watching ReBoot, I am going to talk about it now.

This post is kind of long, by the way. Man, someday I am going to start making a bunch of reasonable length posts about things, instead of waiting until it’s all over and then BRAIN DUMPING all over the place. It would be more coherent, more readable, and probably less likely to scare people off.

Small disclaimed added to beginning to post after rereading post prior to actually posting said post (instead of making it a post-post post I'LL STOP NOW): I use the word “annoy” several times here, and all of it refers to aspects of the show in question. Maybe this makes it seem like I am complaining a lot or do not actually like it. Do not be fooled. I am far more likely to find things that annoy me (and attempt to figure out why they do) for things I like! (If I do not like something, I may rant and be angry about it, but that is different.) Eventually I get over these most of these things, but it is a very long, slow process. Do not mistake all of my griping here for anything other than a strange expression of glee and adoration.

In which I talk a lot about ReBoot. Spoilers! )

In conclusion, my department at work appears to be attempting self-destruct this week, but at least it means I get more hours.

…Aaand I just saw the date on the entry and it occurs to me that oh my god you guys I have been playing FFXI for SIX YEARS. What have I been doing with my life. I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL WHEN THIS MADNESS STARTED. (For the purpose of this exclamation, please ignore that I’ve graduated, uh, three times since then, held jobs, and am still employed and living away from my parents now.)

I’ve been playing Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Rather than post after a session, I collected everything from the first “section” of the game. (Since some sessions were literally only one battle long, it seemed silly. And after I’d gone through a bunch of characters without posting anything, I figured, what the heck? And just kept going.)

REALLY LONG )

THIS IS 18 PAGES. WHAAAAT.

edit:
oh thank goodness it fits
DISCLAIMER: I’m not even trying to claim this was a quality film. It’s not artistic and it doesn’t have some deeper meaning. But I enjoy it, anyway! I know it has problems, but I think it’s a fun film! You are fully welcome to disagree with me! You can even inform me of that, and you are, of course, free to ask me to explain anything in this post (or not in this post) that you want. But kindly don’t tell me I’m an idiot for enjoying it.

And. I’m sick or something (headache verging on migraine yesterday, my throat is ruined today…), so I’m really not sure if this is half as coherent as it seems to me. Sorry!

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen )

And this is where I’m stopping, because this is way too long as is and it’s late and I’m tired and not feeling well (and a little bit loopy on decongestants). SO THERE.
OKAY SO OMG IT WAS AWESOME SHUT UP THAT IS NOT A SPOILER IT IS AN OPINION

DUDE.

OKAY.

The cinema I went to - not the only one doing a midnight opening in this state - was not only sold out. It was sold out FOUR TIMES. FOUR TIMES! They sold out their first showing and opened another, and then another, and then another, and they had all sold out. I had not been aware they had four screenings! (I WAS IN THE ONE THAT ACTUALLY STARTED AT MIDNIGHT, but there were 12:05, 12:10, and 12:15 showings, as well.)

WTF HOW AM I IN A POPULAR FANDOM. WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN. I AM SO CONFUSED I seriously spent the thirty minutes I sat waiting for the movie to start going "What the hell how are there so many people here?"

Because the midnight screening of the first movie had like... twenty people at it, tops. (And six of them where there because I dragged them there. Well, okay, five. One of them was me. Though I suppose technically I dragged myself there, as well.)

They showed the trailer for 9 which made me go YAY and the trailer for Avatar which made me go "eeeerg" and start whispering things to my mother, and then they showed a disaster flick trailer and the G.I. Joe one. And then they showed us the movie and I was FULL OF GLEE FOR TWO AND A HALF HOURS AND NOW I AM SUPPOSED TO SLEEP? THAT IS PROBABLY NOT HAPPENING!

THANK GOD I DO NOT HAVE TO GET UP AND GO BOATING TOMORROW OR I WOULD PROBABLY DIE.

Instead I can go see it again or something, or maybe I'll be able to pass out before the sun rises I don't know I AM SO WOUND RIGHT NOW AREN'T YOU GLAD IN 2007 THAT I WAS IN PROVIDENCE AND NOT ANYWHERE NEAR A COMPUTER OR INTERNET ACCESS AFTER THEY SHOWED US THE MOVIE EARLY? I literally sat on my cot in the hotel room grinning and unable to calm down for like an hour and it was so much worse than this because of convention buzz and the first time I'd ever seen them on the big screen at all and because it was the best movie-watching experience of my life and and and I AM SORRY I LOVE MY FANDOM SO MUCH OKAY? I KNOW NONE OF YOU CARE ABOUT IT BUT I DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR NOT CARING.

Oh. I'm talking about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (the new movie), in case you, you know, didn't know that. Seeing as how I've not actually mentioned that yet.

And yes of course it had its problems and places where I was going 'dear lord enough already' and everything but... oh for god's sake i shouldnt feel like i have to defend my liking something on my own damn journal SO I AM NOT GOING TO RIGHT NOW

(GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)

AND WHILE I'M HERE SQUEEING OVER TRANSFORMERS, yesterday Amazon sent me an e-mail telling me they'd shipped my copy of the score, so it could be here as early as tomorrow! er. Today! Which is a week and a half sooner than they'd estimated shipping it which is, while not entirely surprising, still pretty awesome.

Here are some things from the weekend I wanted to mention but forgot, in my sleep-deprived haze:

Yes, more on this. )

Anyway, my new field placement started today! AT 8:30 AND BY THE WAY I HAD TO DRIVE FORTY MINUTES TO GET THERE so I had to crawl out of bed at 7 am and I'm still recovering from the flight home, but I made it. IT IS SO AWESOME.

We went out on a boat and drove around and I got to do stuff already! No standing around stupidly this time, they put me right to work putting things in the lake and taking them back out, and dropping them in the lake, and hauling them back out, and tossing things in the lake and heaving them out again and THROWING THEM IN THE LAKE AND THEN PULLING THEM UP AND TAKING THE SAMPLE AND we saw some great blue herons in their nests at the top of some dead trees, and a bunch of fish clearly not adapting well to living in the lake-proper instead of the hatchery they must have been from, and also there were spiders all over the boat augh, and oh man, I am so excited and grateful, but I am seriously going to have blisters the size of China growing on my hands in a week's time ow.

I GO BACK AT 9:30 TOMORROW. Not nearly as far, though. I had to go to Waterbury to do some paperwork and stuff, but they'll be picking me up from a much closer location from now on.

SOEXCITED. (Too excited for the space key, evidently.)

And, while we're on the subject, SQUEENIX I HATE YOU.

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY

THE ONLY GOOD THING HERE IS THAT I DIDN'T SEE ANY TARUTARU IN THE TRAILER AND I COULD LIVE WITH NO TARUTARU BUT AAGERHJKTLGEMNH

(And that's all beyond that they're promoting XIV before XIII is out...)
Wait.

"WEIRD AL" YANKOVIC?

.... AWESOME.

And David Kaye's back again? Are we going to see Grimlock vs. Grimlock? 'Cause that would be kind of hilarious.

(IT IS MAY NOW!)

(... at least I'm not posting with half a dozen links every time they put up a new trailer for the movie?)

Edit:
My default icon has been updated to match my icon for everything else, ever*. Not sure it'll last, since I'm so used to seeing NINJA MITHRA ATTACK!! everywhere, but meh. ... YES, THIS IS RELEVANT TO YOUR LIFE.

* THIS IS A LIE I haven't bothered to change my Windows User picture. Part of it's apathy, and part of it is me liking the fish, and part of it is the fish looks better on the only screen I ever see it on, anyway. The sunset wouldn't match the background very well. The fish looks right at home in it.

Though it is the one I use on my other laptop.
OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS SHANTOTTO IS IN DISSIDIA.

SHANTOTTO IS IN DISSIDIA.

SHANTOTTO!

...I miss the Vana'diel Tribune so much.

I NEED IT. RIGHT NOW.

I admit, she wouldn't have been my first choice (why is it always Tarutaru, SE, why the Tarutaru), but she is pretty awesome, and just the fact that Final Fantasy XI is being included at all has me absolutely giddy. Oh, man. Oh man!

(And, you know, if I had to assemble my own army of NPCs, she'd be in it, because no way in hell do I want her on the other team. She is terrifying.)

(Old news, I know, but I have a tendency to not pay too much attention to games that aren't going to be released for a while yet. Gets me too excited. ...See above.)

YES.

NEW LAPTOP IS HERE. IT ARRIVES ON A DAY I HAVE NO CLASSES!

The delivery man was his usual ninja self and I almost missed him, but clearly I did not. \o/ So excited!

Hm. There was something I wanted to post about, but for the life of me I cannot remember what now.

Oh, well! Running away to get it up and running now. :D :D :D :D

by the way have I ever mentioned how much reinstalling FFXI completely sucks? IT COMPLETELY SUCKS.

WHAT IS THAT YOU ARE WEARING?

IT LOOKS SNAZZY, ALL RED AND BLACK.

COULD IT - WHY, I THINK IT IS! - COULD IT BE A SCORPION HARNESS?*

GUYS.

I HAVE BEEN ANTICIPATING (AND DREADING BECAUSE, AHAHA, OH GOD THE COST) THIS MOMENT SINCE I STARTED PLAYING AT THE NORTH AMERICAN RELEASE BACK IN 2003! THAT IS ALMOST FIVE WHOLE YEARS.**

MY EXCITEMENT AND ABSOLUTE AMAZEMENT AND AWE AND GLEE (AND OTHER SIMILAR EMOTIONS) ARE ALL BOUNDLESS.

I AM GOING TO EXPLODE NOW. PLEASE WATCH OUT, IT COULD BE MESSY.***

MAPLE JELLY BEANS.

♥!!

As a bonus, finger has not gone septic, fallen off, or even started oozing again yet. Though when we rebandaged it again tonight, Mom commented that it very nearly did come clean off, and that no wonder it took forever to stop bleeding. So my claims of nearly losing the tip of it were, in fact, not an exaggeration. (I hadn't thought they were, but it's always nice to have confirmation...)

But that is not the point. The point is MAPLE JELLY BEANS.

( Sep. 18th, 2008 09:19 pm)
I was up a little too late last night running around Vana'diel. Questing around with Nabiki, then fighting in Besieged with Aniko after Nabi went to bed, and then Aniko and I stood around trying to thin or something to do when...

The two Tarutaru Summoners behind us started spamming /dance, and when we turned to investigate, Aniko saw something strange. The Carbuncles were dancing! Summoner pets don't dance. But I didn't see them doing anything. (Neither could one of the Summoners, actually.) I really wanted to see what they were talking about, though... So I turned up all the settings (as I've mentioned, I typically play with them fairly low), then ran off until they were all out of loading distance. Then I ran back!

... And still saw nothing. Augh! Buuut.... then one of them summoned a Light Spirit, and... wait a minute, what was that?! Normally they bob slightly, but this one was bouncing around crazily! Check it out!

Does this mean I can see the atomic squirrels dancing now?! :D?

YES, IT DOES!

They had two different "dances" they did - one involved spinning in the air, and the other was some kind of strange seizure twist...

Both Carbuncles twisting around.

Carbuncle flipping.

(OH, HEY, SEE? I learned how to compress the video files, so now they upload without any problems! Maybe someday I'll go and replace the chocobo ones.)

Other random clips:
Flipping and twisting.
Twist 1
Twist 2
Twist 3
Twist 4
Twist 5

It was awesome, and well worth the lost sleep.
I still think of it as Summerfest! It hasn't been Summerfest since 2004! They're calling it Sunbreeze, and I have long since stopped bothering to correct myself. I like the name "Summerfest" better, anyway.

WE GET NEW OUTFITS THIS YEAR! For the most ridiculous event ever. Clapping at trees wandering about town or whatever we were doing that Christmas was ridiculous, but helping the "Fantastic Fraulein" dance the "physical manifestation of darkness itself" to death with catch phrases and attack names that I really honestly think they must have pulled from Sailor Moon (Neo Crystal Jig? One of them hits the guy with a giant heart)...? Anyway, the new outfits are blue, and they're cute (though I'm not sure if I prefer them to the swimsuits from - two? and - three years ago), and once you've picked both halves of it up, you can freely teleport between the three cities and play ridiculous mini-games!

Catching baby chocobos wins for the cuteness factor (omg. Baby chocobos!), but the San d'Orian one is easiest, once you actually learn how to spot the differences. Bastok turns us all into sharp-shooters, and the rangers wonder why they can't aim that well during actual combat situations. And for winning the mini-games on hard mode (which they offer once you get your outfit), they not only give you junk food (cotton candy, melon snowcones, and kabobs), but a balloon, as well! Once you collect all three different balloons, you can talk to the Moogle again and get the +1 outfit, which lets you teleport to Purgonorgo Island. CLAMMING AND BEACH PARTIES, WOOT. (Oddly, though, you cannot play hard mode or teleport between the cities wearing the HQ outfit. It has to be the original one, even though they look identical.)

Though they take away your balloons. BUT THEY LET YOU GET NEW ONES. YAAAY! I AM SIX YEARS OLD.

And supposedly they've added more varieties of fish to the goldfish scooping, so I'll be hitting Knightswell out in Ronfaure before this is over with. Also, you can get fireworks by helping Mumor dance Ullegore to death once you've earned your outfit.

MAN. I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR IN VANA'DIEL.
