Currents of Time

We are here at last! The last entry of the meme! The last day of December! The final moments of 2014! Time flows so strangely, doesn't it?

So my topic today is: Favorite moment/s of the year.

... I am going to make a list:

• my kitty's two year anniversary! How could this not be a favorite moment? A whole second year of safety and love! My poor baby.

• Universal Studios night. Say what you will about BotCon (goodness knows I do), that was just an amazing amount of fun. I mean, I had a lot of fun in Pasadena all around, but THEME PARK. Rollercoasters!!! KARAOKE PARTY BUS!

• EVERYTHING TFCON CHICAGO, up to and including our surprise Supernatural neighbors.

• Finally getting answers (and actions) for my stupid ankle problem, which was actually a tibia problem.

• Most of the crazy shit my FFXIV company and I have got up to. I love my guys. :3


I think those are probably my tops. It I go much farther, I'll just start listing everything that happened to me.

Oh wait also my promotion. That was pretty great. Yeah!

(And getting a phone I can update my journal from, maybe?? Hahaha)

First things first, a huge thank you to thebaconfat for the really wonderful card, and also to tainry for the card and present. You guys are so awesome, thank you both so much. ♥!


Secondly, I got a Kindle for Christmas, yeee. GIVE ME ALL OF YOUR BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS. Well, maybe not all. But still. I would love some recs. Sci-fi, fantasy, young adult stuff and general fiction are usually pretty good. Please no romance, though a story with romance is okay, just not as the main genre. Anything that is not completely heteronormative would also be really welcome.

Also I recently finished reading The Martian, by Andy Weir, which I grabbed because the premise sounded interesting (unlucky dude gets stranded on Mars when they have to abort their mission) and because it's .99 on Amazon, and damn it I just got this awesome new toy and I must fill it with ALL THE BOOKS, and actually it was totally awesome and I really enjoyed it. Also I spent the last chapter or so being afraid to turn the page and reading with my hands over my eyes because OH NO OH NO. Basically, completely recommended. (Fair warning, there are occasionally typod as well as a couple times when you can tell the author changed reworked a sentence and accidentally left in a word.)


BUT YEAH RECS? Pretty please? My manager gave the whole department her nasty disease so I am stuck in bed being miserable and incapable of sleep. Gimme something to doooo. And by "do" I mean "read" obviously.

I've attended too many voice actor panels! Mom was listening to Terry Gross on the radio, and she has some voice / actor on, and I already knew all the answers to the questions she was asking. GET TO THE HIJINKS! (and then she did, and all was good)

Anyway, it's cold today. And it was apparently cold yesterday, but I wouldn't know, because I somehow spent the entire day asleep, because fifteen hours (UNTIL 5 PM) is a perfectly reasonable amount of time to be unconscious. And then being tired about eight hours later? Also normal. I am tired today, too. What the hell is wrong with me this time? Maybe I am just trying to hibernate through the season.

So, anyway, normally with sub-zero temperatures we'd have a fire going, buuut...

AND THAT WAS THE CHRISTMAS POST!

Since then, I have not done much other than work and sleep for-freaking-ever. And play a little on my shiny PS3. FFXIV starts billing tomorrow, but I remembered to set everything up, there.

The Doctor Who Christmas special was kind of disappointing, I have not had a chance to watch Top Gear (FOR SHAME, JECCA), and Sherlock was goddamn amazing except when it wasn't (which was, at least, the minority of the time, and which I am working on mostly undoing by deciding to reinterpret things).


Also this afternoon my parents and brother tried to get me tipsy, but it didn't quite work because wine is awful.

(My brother is taking a wine class at school, and for his homework he had to do a little wine-tasting thing, so we were all sitting around sipping wine for like an hour. I didn't finish any of my partial glasses, but I still ended up consuming more than I had in all the rest of my life. Unpleasant!)

I totally had this idea for a post to write up earlier today! While I was at work! And busy! And not in possession of paper to write the idea down on!

SO INSTEAD, I will inform you that IDW (haha! I didn't even notice until just now when I went to check the publisher... these are the guys currently running Transformers comics) is printing The Last Unicorn comics! Only the first one (of six, total) is out so far. It is awesome. If you like The Last Unicorn. Or just unicorns. Or good stories. Or AWESOMENESS. You do like awesomeness, don't you?
