hahahaha holy shit our chimney was just on fire

We're fine! My parents put the titanium in there for a reason. Nothing exploded. It's going out. Slowly.

And now I'm sitting watch to keep an ear and eye on the fireplace (hey, saves me from helping in the kitchen) (though I'd rather have a nice, warm fire). (Chimney fires are really, really loud.)

So, uh, wow. That was exciting.

(IT IS STILL CRACKLING AUGH)

...Anyway, uh, here's Megatron singing a Christmas carol. Yay!

And then, to completely ruin the mood, I commented that the images of New York, with all the smoke and confetti-bits floating all over in the air, looked a bit apocalyptic. Yes, welcome to 2010. NOW: THE END OF THE WORLD.

AND THEN THERE WAS A MASSIVE PARSON SPIDER (if your spider-loving mother says it's the biggest one she's ever seen, you are allowed to use the word 'massive') IN MY BEDDING. I'm going to hope it was a parting shot from 2009 and not a welcoming from 2010, because otherwise this year and I are going to be on very bad terms.

Overall, though, I think 2009 was pretty good? I managed to spend the vast majority of it living not at home (mostly not on my own, since of course I have a flatmate, even if she has been mostly absent lately~)! I managed to get work (albeit not like a "proper" job but seriously whatever), graduated (again), got health insurance, and did not die when I caught the doom plague in June/July/part of August. I went to Mexico (and there was a plane crash halfway across the continent - the Hudson River landing) and Pasadena (... aaand there was a plane crash halfway across the continent - the Air France thing. Aniko and I were actually watching that on the news as we were flying back). I was fired by my therapist because she thought I could handle the world and so far she's been pretty much correct! I just need to stop being so awful at social interaction (how do you live somewhere for a year and make no new friends? I have managed it...). There was some epic drama, too, but I am trying not to dwell on it.

Uploaded a bunch of pictures from last month to Facebook, featuring cookie baking, Christmas trees, and my dog, mostly. This link might/should work, if you want to see.

THINGS I WANT TO DO THIS YEAR:

- Stop failing at leaving comments (didn't I say this last year? Maybe not. It's something I think about often, but never quite get anywhere with...)! (I AM NOT JOKING I have a folder full of word documents with saved comments, most of them for other people's writing, that I just... do not post. Because I am lame. And paranoid? I dunno.)

- Write more letters. Remember to send them. Would you like one? (Also, I want to get more non-bills mail, but I have no control over that.)

- ...better job? At least start earning more than rent and utilities cost each month? ** UPDATE: one of my coworkers has left and my manager asked me if I wanted more hours. YES YES PLEASE YES So we'll see how this goes...
This afternoon, I went to a NaNoWriMo write-in at the local library. Was fun!

AND NOW: PICTURE POST AAAAUGH
Note: despite these all being Halloween pictures, most of them were not actually taken on Halloween. Wheeha!

Crud, my tea got cold. /non sequitur
Oh, gosh, I meant to make this entry earlier. Time completely got away from me somehow. November usually drags, and now we're getting close to the end! (ONE WEEK ♪ since you looked at me... ♬)

I am wondering, does anyone want any Seasonal Thing? Card, gift, whatever? I like making/buying/giving stuff away, so when I'm given an excuse to, I like to make loud noises and wag my tail and jump on it and lick its face and - wait no that is what my dog does to people when they come to the house. But I do like to jump on the opportunity! (Ah, so that is where the confusion came from. Of course.)

So here is my offer: if you want me to send you something in the spirit of the holiday season, you should totally say something. If there is something specific you want, go ahead and mention that. I do have a price range, but I'm not sharing it, because it varies person to person (for example, I usually spend more on Aniko, but I also usually send her both her birthday and Christmas present as one thing, so...) and day to day, and it depends on all sorts of stuff that would take for ever to explain, and you know I would try to. Plus, even if I can't afford the specific thing, I can usually get some sort of idea from that.

Or you can tell me to try to draw or write something, or bake something (for example, Aniko is getting cookies and a video game), or to send a book I don't want anymore, or whatever. Just give me some little thing to work with and I can come up with something.

I WANT TO GIIIIIVE THIIIIINGS. TAKE THEM.
This is my post-gift giving and receiving glee post

Because it is, apparently, necessary. )

We have finished dinner now, and Mom is about to light a fire (even though it is a bit late, perhaps? None of us go to bed before midnight, anyway).

My brother is sitting on the other end of the sofa with his laptop open and his headphones on, and he is laughing rather a lot. He is watching Top Gear on YouTube. Hee! (When he is finished with the episode he is currently on, he has asked to see the list of episodes I have on disc.)

The premier of Transformers: Animated airs tomorrow! I am excited.

Once she gets it, I think I will post Aniko's Christmas card, because it amuses me, despite it being completely ridiculous. It was supposed to be ridiculous. I do not make non-ridiculous holiday cards. Anyone who has ever seen any of my cards knows this.

It is Christmas Eve now! I am so excited! The tree is so pretty, all decorated and now with presents wrapped in pretty paper and with bows on them all under it. If I do not update later today (which, if Aniko does not get her stuff today and does not get online so that I know this, is entirely possible, since the post would just be the card), I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas has fun and gets neat things and good things all around and yes. Incoherency.

I do not have to work tomorrow. I do not plan on leaving the house until Mom begs me into going to church service with her so that she is not all aloooone.

Oh, oh, oh! My brother is home again. YAY! He drove home on Friday, actually. I have just been alternating too much between "inexplicably weepy" and "screaming in fanfic-induced rage at my Brain" to remember to mention that. YOU KNOW, JUST IN CASE ANYONE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT MY BROTHER IS HOME.

I am so lame. I am twenty-one and I am reduced to acting like an eight year old when my younger brother comes back from school. (And why are you happy, Jecca? Is it because your inner child is again waking in anticipation of Christmas? No! It is because my brother is home again!)

(Though, to be fair, the Christmas thing really doesn't hurt.)

Today, he and my father went out and bought a new router, so hopefully it'll work better than our old one and we'll both be able to play FFXI without the internet crashing every ten seconds now. Please note I didn't actually talk about the game here, so I am still being good to my word of not talking about it. And now I'm just talking about not talking about it.

I made a slight, slight edit to the prologue of "Depths." I don't think it's even really noticeable, but apparently the minor detail in question has decided to be important, so I changed it.

There is pink everywhere. It is slightly overwhelming. I have never understood the big deal about Valentine's Day. ...okay, bit of a lie. I like the idea of having a day specifically set aside to tell people you care about them, but I do not like how everyone around me (overstatement) gets all obsessed about how they do not have a boy/girlfriend.

In retaliation, I buy chocolate and make cards and paper flowers and give/mail them to all of my friends (or at least the ones whose addresses I know) who are not currently in a relationship. I realize this is a very strange thing to do. (I also have not mailed anything yet. Whoops.)

We are supposed to be getting a monster of a snow storm some time tonight / later this morning (last guess I heard was around 5). I wonder if any of my classes are going to be canceled... Mom has informed me that, should it still be snowing in the afternoon, I am not allowed to remain in town for my night class.

(Speaking of class cancellations, I did not have my night class tonight. I did not know this until I was almost late and so fled up the street and down the stairs and hall, only to literally slide to a stop outside the door and stare blankly at a dark room for several seconds before noticing the sign. Said sign was no where near the door used for the classroom, for some reason.)

Edit:
SNOW DAY! ^_^
The Magnifying Spectacles are obtained by GP for Clothcraft! Oh, glee! There's my motivation for getting back into leveling my crafting! Yes, let's all just BLIND OUR CHARACTERS NOW. Hisi'll look so cute~

:D

And, Happy New Year! Yes, it is early. Shut up. It is 2007 in Europe, at least.

Edit:
She is my mother and I love her dearly, but when she gets tipsy she cannot stop laughing and, oh, it's annoying. Mom! Be quiet! @__@
aaack relatives! Really annoying relatives! Really annoying relatives who always, always manage to break something every time they come over! Ick. That's the biggest problem with holidays, any holiday: the relatives. (To be fair, it's only one of them. I rather like the other one who lives close enough to visit on occasion.)

Woke up to find the grass was still green, but it started snowing about three hours ago, so now there's a dusting all over the place. ... Close enough, I guess.

Yeah, so, Christmas. Talk of presents here. )

I inflicted the G1 episode "Kremzeek" on a friend tonight. (It still makes no sense.) You really only hurt the ones you love by clicking Megatron at them. :P Great fun, though. I kept having to pause the episode so we could talk about/poke fun at it.

(We watched a few other episodes, too. I think I've managed to get her to learn who each Constructicon is. Yes, even Bonecrusher. However, we're still not sure why Shockwave is standing behind Megatron in "The Autobot Run" - shouldn't he still be, you know, not on Earth? Like, on Cybertron? The animators had no idea what they were ever doing with that series, and it's wonderful.)

(I use far too many parenthesis.)

...(*clicky*)

I'm in the process of editing the "I send the original character of my friend to Silent Hill because it's practically canon anyway, and because it sounded like fun" thing I wrote the other night (mentioned here). Getting close to done, I think. Is anyone interested in reading it (and possibly pointing out the massive errors I've probably missed seeing in the process)?
