I mentioned this several entries ago, so I felt I should follow up on it, anyway.

They uploaded it, themselves!

So I was just on Yahoo checking the weather for tomorrow, and I see this:

... Apparently Vermont migrated to a polar circle or something. I wish people would tell me these things.
Many, many months ago (well, four), I posted THIS ENTRY and, in it, told [livejournal.com profile] rionaleonhart that I would get images of the Tidus-bird ... thing.

How many times did I visit home between then and now? I always remembered halfway back into town that I'd forgotten to get a picture again. Had a couple people over to watch a movie earlier tonight, and somehow the process expanded to include a visit to my mother to pick up my old uniform vest. So here is a poor quality picture that probably fails to capture whatever it was that made us declare THAT BIRD IS TIDUS.

Apparently I was going to get a picture of grass-poking, as well. Okay, I guess this entry gets to sit here while I go hunting for it, then....

So now there's a second image which also isn't so great. I need a scanner or something if I'm going to keep doing this. (I NEED A CABLE so I can connect my new printer, which has a scanner, to my computer. Rage.)

Image )

So, to completely change the subject, I received a bobble-head Megatron today. For lack of any other idea of what to do with him, I put him in the refrigerator. (I... I don't know, I have a strange and inexplicable habit of putting things in or at least on the fridge if I can't work out where else to put them.) Apparently, this vastly improved Aniko's life when she came home from a bad day at work and found him in there. Surprise Bobble Head Megatron standing next to the milk would probably improve my day, too, really.
When I moved into town, I signed up for the local e-mail thing. Mostly it's people trying to get rid of things or figure out where their stolen bikes have gone, but today's had something that made me laugh.

'FREE TOASTER.' )

Meanwhile, in less amusing events, after a relatively arachnoid-free autumn, spiders are popping up all over the place again. SORRY, GUYS. BACK OUTSIDE WITH YOU. It's not like it's actually cold out, yet, anyway. Seriously, get out of my kitchen.

And my living room.

And my bedroom.
Was talking to my brother last night, he was telling me about his current Knights of the Old Republic 2 files. He's playing through twice, side by side, one good and one evil file.

Today: "my evil kotor2 file got corrupted"

Well, naturally.

Related IM convo silliness I am preserving here for my own amusement. )

Sooo. I have no idea how to conclude this post.

... part of me really wishes the tags appeared in the order I added them.

Edit:
CRAP. I just noticed that it's October. NOW I HAVE TO HURRY UP AND DECIDE IF I'M GOING TO TRY NaNo THIS YEAR. aaaaaaaaugh.

Again, Aniko's Watchmen figures. Not Sally diving off the DVD case, though. Actually, she hasn't fallen off once since Reno started threatening her! It is amazing. She did stumble once, but, hey! No falling!

No, now we are looking at the three she keeps in her room. Or, well, one of them. Rorschach has caused a few ... puzzles already. When no one is watching, he will, on occasion, catapult across the room. We can't figure out how this happens. (It really is not a trick. On on occasion, she was at work and I suddenly heard a clatter-thunk from her room, went to investigate and... WHY ARE YOU OVER HERE GET BACK ON YOUR STAND. How does he clear the chair? How?) Also, one time he got worked into an impossible tangle in the cables behind her desk. Trying to climb down? Or trying to climb back up? We don't know, but it shouldn't have been possible for gravity alone to do it.

He doesn't seem to have much regard for gravity, anyway, though.

Aniko's still watching Supernatural (about halfway through season 2). Rorschach is apparently curious.

Three images )

Aniko and I agree he does not entirely approve of Sam or Dean, but he could be a fan of John (which is kinda funny, when you consider...).

ORCS, MAN. All this time I thought they were just speaking broken basic, but no! They speak meme! (orcs: the organic Junkions of the future?*) Someone take the internet away from them.

* This reminds me. In the hospital, they've got one of those wrist support gel-pads at one of the computers, and on the thing, it says "ERGOTRON."

I like to imagine Ergotron is a highly neurotic Transformer who can't understand why his fellows can't make things more, you know, ...ergonomic. If he thinks it is wrong, he destroys it (or at least tries to), because for whatever reason my brain decided right away that he is an unlucky Decepticon. He probably turns into a highly adjustable chair or something. And ends up dead somewhere after blowing up the wrong computer console.

Yeah, I don't know.

(TUESDAY WAS A REALLY SLOW DAY IN THE LAB.)
So, aside from giving me a few reminders as to why I don't like the college up the hill and am glad I don't attend there, Jon Stewart event? HILARIOUS. He went at the governor quite a lot in the beginning, which was both fun and funny. He also kept talking to the signers, which was funnier than it should have been, since they'd be translating the question he was asking rather than answering and... I dunno. IT WAS FUNNY.

Then I went back home and logged onto FFXI with the intent of doing something, I think... Actually, I think we did do something (I... Ani and Nabi and I were all in a party. BUT WHY?), but I can't remember what.

Oh! Wait, yes, okay, we did a fight for Nabi, but we didn't get the drop she wanted. Okay. Okay, got it.

Anyway... )

I decided to catch up on Transformers comics, and I'm pretty glad I did! I had coupons for 40% off, so I got two TPBs for close to the price of one, and I'm actually enjoying them a fair amount. I know I shouldn't be surprised or convinced by the hate people've been throwing at them lately, but sometimes I forget how cracked out fandom can be. I was going to say people who's opinions usually line up with mine were hating them, but after I'd typed it, I thought about it and, no, while I generally have some amount of respect for these people, they usually don't agree with me.

Of course, the series does have a fair amount of problems (for example, the list of continuity discrepancies on the wiki is kind of horrifying and hilarious all at once), but the sheer, violent hatred I'd been seeing seems a bit out of place. Anyway, though, the art is really pretty.

Earlier today I went with my mother to a Japanese festival thing, which sounded really cool, but ended up being kind of lame. Oh, well. Got red bean paste out of it, so obviously this was not a complete loss.

...Most of yesterday, I was really grumpy (I'm chalking it up to not getting enough sleep and then being woken up multiple times that morning). Today, I still have not had enough sleep, but I was set on "ridiculously happy" until around three hours ago, when my sleepiness caught up with me. Now I'm just tired. I don't need to be up all night waiting for a monster to maybe spawn, though, so hopefully I'll get a decent amount of dead-time.

I was up a little too late last night running around Vana'diel. Questing around with Nabiki, then fighting in Besieged with Aniko after Nabi went to bed, and then Aniko and I stood around trying to thin or something to do when...

The two Tarutaru Summoners behind us started spamming /dance, and when we turned to investigate, Aniko saw something strange. The Carbuncles were dancing! Summoner pets don't dance. But I didn't see them doing anything. (Neither could one of the Summoners, actually.) I really wanted to see what they were talking about, though... So I turned up all the settings (as I've mentioned, I typically play with them fairly low), then ran off until they were all out of loading distance. Then I ran back!

... And still saw nothing. Augh! Buuut.... then one of them summoned a Light Spirit, and... wait a minute, what was that?! Normally they bob slightly, but this one was bouncing around crazily! Check it out!

Does this mean I can see the atomic squirrels dancing now?! :D?

YES, IT DOES!

They had two different "dances" they did - one involved spinning in the air, and the other was some kind of strange seizure twist...

Both Carbuncles twisting around.

Carbuncle flipping.

(OH, HEY, SEE? I learned how to compress the video files, so now they upload without any problems! Maybe someday I'll go and replace the chocobo ones.)

Other random clips:
Flipping and twisting.
Twist 1
Twist 2
Twist 3
Twist 4
Twist 5

It was awesome, and well worth the lost sleep.

I rarely visit the Allakhazam forums these days, but some days I drop in and find the members there have gone and done something lunatic again, and I wonder why I spend so little time there.

Pankration: gotta catch 'em all! The simplest thread in existence, and yet I am reduced to helpless giggling. It's not even as if there's been a lack of Pokémon jokes in regards to Pankration. This isn't something new. I think it might be the "fixed that for you" quoting where they strike out everything the original reply says and replace it with the next line of the song that's setting me off... Or that this starts with the very first reply.

Or it may be that my job has finally murdered me. I did sit in the car for three full minutes wondering what I was supposed to do next before I remembered I needed to get my keys out of my pocket to start the engine...

Yeah.

This has been a fun week so far.

Edit:
I should have known better than to hit Post before reading the rest of the interestingly titled threads. Bifrons! From another, "What's up with lolbifrons?" post, which contains many other delightful links. ...There's clearly something wrong with all of us.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS A (HOWEVER MINOR) RIBFIR/FIBRIR (only with blue and purple) IN THIS COMMUNITY.
Time wasting on YouTube. Almost six minutes of my life that I should probably feel I've wasted, but don't. They aren't words anymore.

There are some very strange and very, very bored people in this fandom. 4:42 - 4:50 is one of my favourite scenes ever, and the rubber ducky gets a cameo at 5:04.

Of course, now my spare few minutes are over and I have to go back to working. It was worth it for the entertainment factor.
Bizarre happenings in the neighbourhood.

Yesterday, I ventured downstairs to find the nice people across the street had a tropical bird problem. Their front lawn was infested with flamingos. This was very strange.

It only became stranger when we learned that all twenty-plus plastic brine shrimp-eaters had appeared quite rapidly between 8 and 8:30 that morning without anyone seeing it happen. The first is when a man who lives down the street walked past, the second is when my mother left for church.

This morning, they were gone again.

Most perplexing.

... What strikes me the most about this is that, years ago, the boy who used to live across the street and I would walk home from school. There's a bit of a speeding problem on the road my house is on, so sometimes, after an especially lead-footed moron would fly past, we would discuss ways to trick that sort into slowing down some. One idea was to obtain many plastic pink flamingos and plant them along the entire length of the road.

Noobism threads always make me laugh. :D

Sometimes I relate to them, but mostly I'm glad I managed to avoid some of the really stupid mistakes (or, er, it could be that I've still not realized some of my own? I suppose that is entirely possible).

Also, best poll ever. why does /ninja always win?

ENTIRE PURPOSE OF THIS ENTRY? OMG! MY INTERNET IS STARTING TO FULLY WORK AGAIN! LOOK, I CAN ACCESS ALLAKHAZAM!

Fanfiction.net is back, too.

It still cuts me out occasionally, but it's generally much rarer (which is to say, it is not every thirty seconds).

I was talking to someone last night and it occurred to me, the cut out thing started about the time I started the SH/TF crossover, and it went away completely for the day or so that I spent writing the beginning and the end (that is, the time spent outside of or leaving the town), and now that I've almost entirely finished, it is fading away all together.

Freaky coincidence?

Well, I hope so, anyway.
Amusement has followed me today. First, my brother introduced me to this song. I do not play Half-Life, or really any games of that type, and as such generally do not listen to their music much! This song (from Portal), however, is ridiculous and reduced me to hysterics on initial listening. Lyrics include this:

I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me.
And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!

HILARITY. Hear and watch it here.

I will play this game.

Second. Today's (well, technically yesterday's, now) addition of The Insecticomics. All so sadly, sadly and painfully true, but funny in there.

That comic led to an extended discussion between Aniko and I about Dinobot, wherein we pretended to be serious but were actually laughing so hard we were having troubles breathing. Good thing that doesn't convey over text unless you say as much. I am resisting the urge to copy some of that conversation down here.

Those are not the most important thing, though. The most important thing is that a picture of the new Dancer job's AF (special armor that can only be worn by people playing that job class with nice stat bonuses and the like. It looks neat, or at least tries to) on a male character turned up (we've only seen it on females so far). Now, the armor design is generally about the same, just minor tweaking here and there, but, uh. This is Dancer. The outfit (their AF!) is silly.

Image! )

It is unusual for them to put someone in Not Windurst. I'm not complaining - I like San d'Oria (or, er, at least I like the Western entrance to South San d'Oria, since that's outisde town but whatever) better than Bastok (as perhaps evidenced by all three of my characters being from San d'Oria).

Anyway, that image is glorious and hilarious. Hey, internet! What I would love to do is visit the Alla forums and see what other people are saying about it! How about you let me? Hee, he has a little flower on his headband.

And they changed work hours so we close at 7 again. All in all, not a bad day! Which is amazing, considering we just entered Daylight Savings and I hate that.
True to my word, I watched Top Gear clips on YouTube for much of the afternoon (one of them was the race from Italy to the restaurant in London. I love that one. I tried to inflict it on my brother, but I don't think he watched it. What a spoilsport). I think I successfully banished Gene, but now I am tired and must go to bed.

Aside from that, my day was mostly uneventful. ... Well, actually, ...no, I guess it wasn't. I came downstairs to find my mother shouting over the radio to mock whatever baseball team it was that lost a game last night (okay, "AND ATE IT!" was pretty unexpected and funny to suddenly hear that from her).

Besides that, I'm going through MORE BOXES of stuff, and one of them held binders full of things from about 1999 to 2004. All from school, so notes and random doodles and such.

The contents made me happy! )

... So you'd think, all that considered, that today would have been a good day, yes? No. Despite all of this, I really feel a bit awful today.

In which Jecca is a whiny brat with emotional problems. )

BUT OKAY! We are done with that. Moving on with life!

Probably about time, anyway.

Tomorrow I will work on "GT" more. Really need to get going on that, since I've made absolutely no progress the last few days.

Edit:
More things that make Jecca happy: this YouTube video. She grins every time she ends up following a link to this video, because the text in the video cracks her up every time. And, of course, the sound-clip from the original cartoon at the very end will never not be hilarious. ("I lactate geometry"! XD)
MY ANKLE IS STILL CLICKING.

And swollen. The unfortunate thing about having had the thing sprained so many times is that I no longer care and so don't treat it quite right. I should be putting ice on it and resting at least once or twice a day and maybe taking Advil. Instead, I put an Ace bandage on to walk around and try to ignore the odd sound effects. If I end up putting myself on crutches again, I will be annoyed with myself an awful lot, but I will also get out of work, so, er. Hmm.

This thread will never not be funny. (A few of the hates are fandom-related jokes, but I think I can explain most all of them if anyone is interested enough to read that.)

Also this one. (Though it'll make no sense to anyone not familiar with Furman/isms. Read this for a crash course.)

(Those are both Transformers related, by the way. I just want to keep track of them and my Bookmarks are a bit out of control at the moment.)
I didn't do this last week, did I?

I'll just throw those in here, too, then. )

The new windows are finally all installed. We haven't put the shades or curtains back up yet, but at least we can park in the driveway again (we've been having to borrow the church's lot across the street). Oh, and the van's been put in a shop somewhere. They haven't figured out what's wrong with it yet. Mom's still hoping the thing will magically go away.

I've worked a bit more on "GT." I think I'll just include one or two more adventures-of-sorts and call it done. Then I'll have to work on "WST-Live!" Kill me.

Harvest Market is this weekend! I am excited! (Harvest Market is mostly a giant yard sale put on by the church across the street. People come from all over and you can find most anything.) Last year I found a Beast Wars Silverbolt (broken, but I fixed him and then spent four months trying to get rid of him, since I didn't need another. Of course, now I have a different "another one," but, well. I wonder how my brother'd take it if I started getting rid of the duplicates from his collection). Maybe I will find something else neat this year. With the movie's popularity, I'm not sure I will, but then it seems only the movie toys and not the remaining Classics or Cybertron stuff that's selling, so maybe I'll find some of those!

Not that I know what I'll do with them if I do find (and then buy, but for twenty-five cents each, it's hard to resist) them. Possibly send them off to [livejournal.com profile] mysticeden, if they're wanted there.
I'll probably stop these posts when the novelty wears off. For now, AMUSEMENTS.

So then /he/ said that... )

That is all for the highlights of this week.
