jecca_mehlota: (Are you for real?)
( Sep. 25th, 2011 01:50 am)
I just endured the most amazingly passive-aggressive blame-denying apology from my father. I should've kept a tally of how many times he admitted it was all my fault. That has to be some kind of new record.

ANYWAY, FLIST, HI. Hello. I have two minor and unrelated questions for you!

The first is related to Transformers! I keep meaning to go catch up on all of the Prime episodes, but, uh. Iiii have no idea where to do this. Now, admittedly, I've not yet dug anywhere close to as far as I could. I am lazy. Does anyone know of anywhere (like a youtube user, or something? I know My Little Pony poooniiiiiieeees! has an individual or two who get fairly high quality vids of episodes up within a few hours...) where I could watch the increasingly-massive backlog of episodes I've accumulated? I am sure someone must have an idea, yes? Surely you do not all get the Hub...? (Friggin' station. NO ONE within our budget carries it!)

The second is related to VIDEO GAMES whoooo! And it is less easy and possibly more technical and I have tried finding answers for this one on and off over the years. SO LIKE. My television (which is not nearby so I cannot begin to tell you what it is which is kind of embarrassing right it is not like I have had it for uh eight or more years now) always - has always - cuts off the edges of the screen when I am playing video games on my PS2 on it. It is really irritating! It is not massive amounts lost, but it is enough to be noticeable. And apparently this happens with other televisions, too, it is not just mine (nor it is exclusively my PS2, because the one we tested tonight was a Toshiba MW24FM3 and we used my brother's PS2). We have tried adjusting the screen, itself, but that's gone nowhere helpful. Sooo... any of you game-players, have you ever noticed this? and if not what is your television and where can i buy one

Now to make up for that, here is a horrible story about BIRDS. Or, rather, a bird. A female goldfinch!

And the birdfeeder. Oh, the poor thing, oh, oh, it was awful.

poor little bird! )

... so, yay for birds!
I have a thing.

I need name suggestions for it )

I've had, like, no sleep the last couple days, and I have a full shift tomorrow. uuugh. Hopefully I can pass out quickly tonight.

I've just returned from a Grand Adventure up into Canada. MONTREAL! Why, you ask? .... because that is where the closest IMAX theater is and I am hopeless.

I'd wanted to see the first Transformers film on the IMAX screen (there were a couple extra scenes! But mostly because GIANT ROBOTS ON MASSIVE SCREEN WHEE) but life didn't allow for it. This time, though... I got lucky! So we purchased our tickets online, then got on the road (an hour later than intended...) and, well. Drove in a mostly-northern direction.

And, for the first time in my life, we were hassled at the border to cross into Canada. Only a little, but still! Was truly strange. Metro'd into the city itself and marched to the theater, got great seats, had the best time ever. GIANT ROBOTS. MASSIVE SCREEN. Amazing sound and video quality! And then we basically turned around and drove home again, and got hassled at the border coming back in (but, of course, that one is to be expected, and it wasn't as bad as it's been before), stopped and had dinner at a cute little diner which served delicious food, and... now I am back! And it was awesome and both my parents agree that it was pretty awesome (my mother had seen it before, but my father had not), and basically it was a lot of fun! I keep meaning to write a proper entry about my thoughts on the movie. It'll probably never happen.

In other news, my brother had decided he’d come down with H1N1 (they really couldn’t have come up with a better name? And they wonder why people still use “swine”?), but then found out strep is also going around, so maybe he’s only contracted that, instead. Either sucks. Ugh, I hate strep (I might hate H1N1, too, but having never had it, it’s hard to say). (And, of course, it's entirely possible he just has a cold or it's allergies or something. WHO KNOWS.)

And, meanwhile, outside, there is a cat wandering around whose meowing sounds startlingly like someone calling “Hello?” Like a kid, and just repeating it over and over. It's been out there since yesterday, aside from during (most of) the thunderstorm we had.

I've just come from watching my cat notice, stalk, leap into the air after, and very nearly catch a pair of hummingbirds. Mom has moved the feeder.

And, apparently, there are starlings in the box elder again. I wonder if there'll be baby birds all over the lawn again.

I was planning on going back into town today, but for an assortment of reasons, that didn't happen. So instead I spent half the afternoon clicking around looking for info on how to get around in CA. FP's provided a link to and minor discount for a shuttle service, but the majority of the reviews are negative. Wish there were a closer airport, or that I knew more about that area of California. Alas. (On the other hand, if my relatives did all live closer to that area, then I might "have" to visit them, so really it is better this way.) Transportation, why are you so difficult?

My mother bought Wii Fit, as well as a couple other games, and was eager to show them all off.

I'm still not used to the idea of my parents owning a console. )

Now, in a bit of a complete reverse, to the unhealthy end of things, my mother baked a couple cakes for the church to sell, but they didn't need one of them. German chocolate cake. We has it. (Which is cool, but I'd rather they have not used the carrot cake instead, heh.)

I had plans! But then I spent the evening watching my brother play through the entirety of Portal instead, because who can resist GLaDOS? We have cake downstairs. We ate cake after he played. Because we could.

I'm fairly certain I haven't mentioned it before (didn't talk about Portal much, did I? I don't have a tag for it, so I must not have), but - for those of you who've played both Portal and Silent Hill - I can't be the only one seeing a resemblance. You know. Rusty, broken down... massive fans... no one around, but lots of signs that there had been people there, once... Doom... It's creepy, okay, even my brother thinks so.

I bought him a copy of Hellgate: London the other day because he asked me to. Also, I picked up a used and extremely cheap copy of Drakengard because I have a vague recollection of someone saying something favorable about it, but I can't remember who or what. 5$, I wasn't going to argue.

I'm exhausted. I woke up freakishly early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, so then I went downstairs and tried dyeing fabric with tea. It wasn't dark enough, so I tried again later in the afternoon, after it had dried out, and then it was too dark to tell (since the lighting in my house is horrible) properly by the time the fabric had dried out again.

And I either hallucinated a conversation with Aniko or she completely forgot it, honestly not sure which at this point. Tired.

Suspect something else is wrong with dog again, will talk to mother about it if she calls.

Animals. Saw a young robin dead in the grass by a tree this morning. I was very sad. When I walked back after checking the tomatoes and artichoke plants, it had moved, so it apparently wasn't dead, it just did a good job of faking. Then it was hopping around a bit. I took its picture but don't have any uploaded yet, too tired to do it now.

Got my DRK to 30. So happy. Now RDM to 25 and NIN to 37, and then maybe WAR, too, and ugh that list is too long and full of jobs I don't like. I actually enjoyed DRK, and I like WAR, but DRK's as high as I need and I don't need WAR, either, and ergh. Though RDM's not necessary, either, I just decided to, and I can take THF to 67 before I have to actually worry about nin again, and 67's probably not ever happening, ha, so, um. God, I hate leveling ninja. Hisi thf says stabby. Me sleep? Sleep good. I don't remember why I started this entry but I'm going to post it anyway, because if I'm suffering, you have to suffer, too. G'night.

I GOT OFF WORK EARLY. I got off work eeaarlyyyy~!

(... I, er, well. That's a bit misleading. I still worked the same amount of hours. I just went in an hour early, which meant I got out an hour earlier than I'm used to!)

WE SHAVED THE DOG. Rather, the dog-salon people shaved the dog. HE'S BAAALD. (By bald I mean, he has very, very short hair everywhere. He is not actually bald.) It makes him look so youthful! And he doesn't seem to mind. Actually, he is more energetic than he's been in months.

My mother is somehow on Chevrolet's advertisements e-mailing list! None of us can figure out quite how this happened. We do not buy Chevrolet cars. We do not visit Chevrolet sites! (My immediate reaction was, THEY KNOW THERE IS A TRANSFORMERS FAN IN THE HOUSE I AM BEING STALKED BY A CAR COMPANY, since the e-mail ad was for the 2010 Camaro - or, Movie Bumblebee - but... they got the wrong address, even if that is at all related to why.)

(My mother also has made Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey cake! Which doesn't actually have ice cream in it, but has bananas and chocolate chunks and little walnut bits and it is possibly the most delicious thing I have ever eaten.)

There are a million things wrong with the world and my life and stuff, but, seriously, I got off work early, my dog is being adorable, the sun is out for once, and music came in the mail and it is awesome and pretty. I AM GOING TO BE HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

Also I have new Top Gear, so clearly nothing can be wrong. It is probably not healthy to be so amused by this, and also sometimes I wonder how many people actually care about the Actually About Cars bits, but I adore those, too.

Edit:
SO I GO TO LET THE CAT IN RIGHT, AND AS SOON AS I OPEN THE DOOR? SPIDER. RUNS IN THE HOUSE.

THAT'S CHEATING.

Though, haha, it used the door and everything!

SEE, EVEN THIS HAS NOT RUINED MY MOOD.
You know.

Full of amphibians in your carpeting.

I woke up and staggered blearily into the bathroom to wash the grit from my eyes, and I noticed something on the carpeting by the sink. What is it? My initial thought was that one of my parents dragged in some mud-and-grass, or something, since they were both out working in the yard and garden and with the hose and... everything all day. Except, you know. It twitched. And piles of grass do not twitch.

So I peered closer and noticed, my god. There is dog hair everywhere in this house. Now I remember why I do not look at the carpets much ever.

But, disregarding the piles of pet hair (we have enough about the house for a whole extra dog, I think)... It's a tree toad! Awwww. Cute little thing.

What on Earth it was doing one story up in my house at 9 in the morning is... a little beyond me, but, okay.

I took it outside and dumped it into the pine trees along the back edge of our yard. It seemed happy to go.

THEN I WENT TO WORK. AGAIN. A lot of my stories end that way, don't they?
Right, it is still storming every day (DEAR WEATHER: STOP!). TODAY: some fool managed to crash into a power pole down the street. He didn't knock it over. He sheered it off. I do not want to know how fast he was going. This resulted in the house not having power for a while, but I was at work for most of that.

Mom called while I was at work (while the power was out - we have a rotary phone which taps directly into the lines, so it works during power outages) to tell me that the power was out but also primarily to warn me that a tiny brown bat was lying in wait next to the Honda, and that I should go in the front door to avoid having a bat leap up and bite my face, because rabies shots are huge and nasty and right into your abdomen and you have to get, like, three. And insurance might not cover them. And a bat latching onto your face like some alien face-hugger would probably be traumatizing.

Okay, mostly she just told me to go in the front door because she'd called the Rabies Hotline and they said to just stay away from it.

Creepy stuff involving customers has been going on at work, but I'm tired of talking about this stuff and want to go to bed, and so am just going to copy in my latest mass of words relating to the game-playing I've been engaging in.

Faster, faster, faster, faster... FASTER! )

Jak-series but not directly Jak X-related ponderings )

Me not dying is, like the sun rising in the west, highly unlikely )

Since I've been talking about gaming... tomorrow IT'S TODAY NOW, aha, they announce the winning number(s?)! Last month, we could pick up to ten five-digit numbers. Now they tell us if we've won anything. There are some amazing prizes, but I'll be happy if I win anything at all, to be honest.

The ongoing event is neat. Much more fun than last year's take on it, in that this year you actually have something to do. And now I have glowy bamboo grass, which is very cool.

Lack of feathers scattered about implies this is because successful flight has been achieved, rather than a successful hunt by the feline, or some other bird-eating creature. Am quite relieved.

So, I only meant to get through the first few scenes... and now I'm in Haven. Nearly finished the first visit to HAVEN. I hate Haven.

On the upside, it's almost time to go back to Spargus. On the downside... well, down isn't right. I'm just a bit bemused to find myself playing the entirety.

Actually, maybe I'll stop after finishing the next round of Spargus missions. Or... maybe the one after that. BUT NO FARTHER. Stay out of the catacombs and ruins. BECAUSE NO AND I AM LAME. And never go back to Haven ever. Because, ugh. I forget how much I dislike Haven until I'm back in Haven again and then, oh, right. This is a miserable city! Even without the Baron! Torn, not even your awesome can save it. I'm sorry.

And then I'm going to go play something else, because I've got too many new (at least to me) games to play to keep revisiting games I've beaten before. My brother has FFXII, but there's other stuff. And I need to find time to get my mother to watch Supernatural, though maybe she ought to finish Life on Mars first. She's only four episodes away.

I think I need to break down and buy a paid account. And then find lots of fandom icons. Seriously, too many bad Ecco and Transformers and FFXI things and nothing interesting or pretty, and I'm feeling a bit in need of a serious revamp of, I dunno. Lots of things. I'd change around my layout if I had any idea what I wanted it to look like...

I was considering a haircut, but my hair is thick, and so too short, it'll poof all over and annoy me, and I like it long... I don't knoooow. Bleh. So evidently a LiveJournal revamp is a reasonable substitute? Whatever, self. Maybe I'll rearrange my room, too.

... I CANNOT BELIEVE WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER THUNDERSTORM. The weather is certainly very angry these days.

I have not expelled bouts of emo! I will now reward myself with chocolate.
Jecca's mother: I need you to help me put this starling *indicates closed shoebox* back in the tree.
Jecca: Okay.
Jecca and her mother: *put the baby back in the tree*
Baby Starling: Look, Ma! I'm flyin-- *WHUMP*

Jecca: NOOO! *chases cat*

Jecca and her mother: Okay, bird. Back in the tree.

Jecca: wtf x_X
Jecca's mother: If that thing jumps out of the tree again, it can just stay down here.
Baby Starling: ... *stays in the tree*

Here is a baby starling actually in the box. (I climbed the tree the old-fashioned way.)
