ahahaha oh, geez, I don't pay much attention to these things, but I just noticed that my 1,000th entry was the cat hair apocalypse one. That's beautiful. XD (Well, on LJ. I posted a few unique entries to DW before LJ annoyed me enough to make me import and start crossposting. So I guess on DW it was the last entry from the first Uncharted game. But that's way less hilarious.)

Anyway, here's something I've meant to link for a while! When I went to the Distant Worlds concert in Chicago last summer, I couldn't find one of the songs they played on youtube. But I have since found a copy of the live version of You're Not Alone (from FFIX), and now I have finally put it up for other people. It's pretty fantastic. I recommend listening to it even if you don't play FFIX.

Today was the last day of my surprise three-day weekend. I had plans, but I didn't go through with a single one of them, because sometimes I am pathetic like that. INSTEAD, I spent too much time playing Uncharted 3, and now, to my sorrow, it is over.

So here's chapters 13 through 22. And the dying. Always the dying. )

Here's a quick update on my cat. My roommate's sister is having to leave her two cats here with us for a couple weeks starting tonight, and poor trauma kitty's upset all over again. I've moved all her stuff into my room and have been keeping the door shut, but she's spent a lot of time sitting around and growling. Poor thing! Hopefully she adjusts to them. Otherwise this is gonna be a bit rough. Though I... think they'll be gone in time for my weekend out of town later this month, so that'll be good, at least. Oof.

... WELL, NOW WHAT.
Sooo. I've spent the last few days home sick with some sort of stomach bug. AWESOME. (It is not really.)

On the positive side, this has given me time to hang out with the new cat (her real name is Sazy, but I've mostly been calling her "Trauma Kitty" because she is super jumpy and has spent the very vast majority of her time here thus far hiding under my bed). She seems to be fairly friendly when she is not being startled into running away and hiding. But she is very, very easily startled into running away. She did not get along with the kids, so now she is afraid of noises that might be children, I guess? Right now she is sitting in the doorway to the kitchen and sniffing the frame. I was about to be worried she was gonna claw it, but then I remembered the declawed her, so, uh. Never mind.

Also, being sick has given me time to play way too much Uncharted 2.

Chapters 18 through THE END )

So, yes. We are now accepting donations to the "Uncharted 3 for Jecca" fund.

Because ahbsfdjkglhkjd damn it I want the third game. XDD Stupid no money.

(But for now I am playing multiplayer online with a friend who also has the game. Anyone wanna join us?)

YES, MORE VIDEO GAMES. I have defeated Uncharted!

TO THE END! )

Now I get to decide if I want to start the second game (knowing if I beat it that I do not have, and cannot currently afford, the third game) or if I want to play around with some of the games I got for Christmas. Choices.
Sooo the internet crapped out for no apparent reason a few days ago and it was way too early for bed, so THERE I WAS, LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO. And then I remembered I bought a new (to me, anyway, picked it up used) PSP game, like, three months ago. Maybe more. I've heard a lot of crap about it, and I've had other things to do, so it hasn't been high on my priorities list, but what the heck! SO I OPENED THE CASE AND --- Inside was my copy of Daxter? WTF?! Right series, at least…? And then I thought for a moment and remembered I'd already put Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier in the PSP. Crisis resolved! (Since Daxter came with the PSP in the bundle pack, it didn't have a proper case of its own, so it spent a while being moved around to the case of whatever game I wanted to play. I did finally secure an empty case for it, though, so I'm really not sure what it was doing in there…)

HEEEY THIS WILL BE THE FIRST NEW SAVE FILE ON THE NEW MEMORY CARD WHOOO since now that I have a new memory card, I can save new files. Yay, card space.

Anyway, on to the game.

WARNING: THIS ENTRY IS REALLY LONG (about 18 pages)

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier THE WHOLE GAME )

Aaaand the dying )

My thumbs hurt.

...AND NOW BACK TO HELPING MY BROTHER WITH HIS HOMEWORK. Whee!
HERE IS THE LAST OF IT.

Shadow of the Colossus PART 4 YAY )

And my very, very short list of deaths. Not very exciting.

Death! )

So that is over and posted now.

HEY. Shadow of the Colossus is freakishly pretty and also just a good game in general, so I RECOMMEND IT. Just, you know. To conclude things.

(Nnnnot that anyone ever listens to my recommendations, because I suck at pimping things. But most of the time I recommend something, someone else comes along and recommends it and then people listen to them? SO PERHAPS I AM TRYING TO CONVINCE SOMEONE ELSE TO REC IT TO ALL OF YOU.)

UNLESS YOU'VE ALL PLAYED IT ALREADY IN WHICH CASE NEVER MIND I AM JUST BEING SLOW TO THE BANDWAGON AGAIN~

But first, it is still July 4th, and I think that makes today [livejournal.com profile] wyntir_rose's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (Or Belated Birthday, whenever you see this? I don't know! I have not seen you floating around LJ, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything!) Don't ask me to sing.

I'm so awful about keeping on top of these. BUT I REMEMBERED THIS TIME, YAY.

Jak X: FINISHED! )

Death List! )

Cumulative Death List with total )

There you have it. Irrefutable proof that this game is, in fact, beatable! (IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU. NO, I DON'T CARE WHO "YOU" IS.) Though, actually, isn't that my highest death count for all four games in the series that I've played?

Hmm. Now what?
jecca_mehlota: (Leap!)
( Jul. 3rd, 2008 11:22 pm)
I'm getting worse and they are getting better! Or maybe just one or the other, but I think it is both.

Yes, more racing. )

Pain-inducing! )

I'm at 77% now, by the way. I figured that your percentage is the same as the number of races you've run, though I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. Either way: there are 25 races each cup (if the two qualifiers and the three rounds of the Grand Prix count as individual races) and there are four cups. So less than 25 races left. Barely.
Right, it is still storming every day (DEAR WEATHER: STOP!). TODAY: some fool managed to crash into a power pole down the street. He didn't knock it over. He sheered it off. I do not want to know how fast he was going. This resulted in the house not having power for a while, but I was at work for most of that.

Mom called while I was at work (while the power was out - we have a rotary phone which taps directly into the lines, so it works during power outages) to tell me that the power was out but also primarily to warn me that a tiny brown bat was lying in wait next to the Honda, and that I should go in the front door to avoid having a bat leap up and bite my face, because rabies shots are huge and nasty and right into your abdomen and you have to get, like, three. And insurance might not cover them. And a bat latching onto your face like some alien face-hugger would probably be traumatizing.

Okay, mostly she just told me to go in the front door because she'd called the Rabies Hotline and they said to just stay away from it.

Creepy stuff involving customers has been going on at work, but I'm tired of talking about this stuff and want to go to bed, and so am just going to copy in my latest mass of words relating to the game-playing I've been engaging in.

Faster, faster, faster, faster... FASTER! )

Jak-series but not directly Jak X-related ponderings )

Me not dying is, like the sun rising in the west, highly unlikely )

Since I've been talking about gaming... tomorrow IT'S TODAY NOW, aha, they announce the winning number(s?)! Last month, we could pick up to ten five-digit numbers. Now they tell us if we've won anything. There are some amazing prizes, but I'll be happy if I win anything at all, to be honest.

The ongoing event is neat. Much more fun than last year's take on it, in that this year you actually have something to do. And now I have glowy bamboo grass, which is very cool.

Fastest delivery ever.

...... you know. Boxes get in and, with only a few exceptions, boxes get out.

... I HAVE A PLAN. Haha.

Now I need to find a suitable box.

But first, more racing. )

Kaboom! )

... OBLIGATORY TEXT OUTSIDE THE END OF THE CUT.
Dear laptop power adapter;
Please, please, please continue working for the next few days until the replacement arrives.

... No, that's not what I would call working.

Breaking out the tape again,
Jecca

MORE JAK X NOW.

Tape might be able to fix your racing vehicle. )

Tape won't save you from exploding. )

Almost at the halfway point, now.
(Speaking of booms, it is still storming every day.)

My brother's chocobo made me cry today.

Anyway, combat racing. Convenient thing about racing games: when you are studying for a chemistry test and need a fifteen minute break, you can run a race or two and be completely satisfied that you've accomplished something, and still have time to go grab a glass of water or something to eat.

The percentage tells me I'm 1/4 of the way through. )

We all know what the second cut is for by now, don't we? )

I won't be surprised if it gets harder from here on out.
*crawls in*

Probably the most incoherent few paragraphs I have ever written. )

Right, what was I talking about? Ah, yes. I started playing a game! It went (well, it's going, since I haven't finished yet) better than I was expecting, but I was kind of expecting myself to fly into a fireball-of-death rage and annihilate the PlayStation and possibly everything else, so, uh. That's not exactly saying much.

Deranged typings occurred, of course (they're half the fun of playing the games!), and also my brother is going to kill me because I still haven't beat Star Ocean. ... Also, a bit tangentially, they ported the PSP game of Silent Hill: Origins to the PS2, and now I have no excuse not to buy and play it. DAMN THEM. Jecca made this face in the GameStop when she saw it: D:

But anyway.

What did she play this time? )

Little skulls indicate death. )

I'm entirely too lazy and sick of numbers (go away, Chemistry) to bother to count that all up.
jecca_mehlota: (STRESS!)
( May. 27th, 2007 12:36 am)
I haven't updated this since Wednesday (technically it was Thursday, but it was Wednesday's notes). It has been hot since then, and I have been disinclined to turn my personal space heater laptop on. As such, all of my notes were hand written and I had to type them all up. I was bored.

I finished the game about an hour ago, so this goes straight through to the end!

As such, it is a bit long. )

Of course, I died a lot attempting this stuff.

I invent new ways to die sometimes! )

The total!

It's less than Jak II, but so are most things. )

I think of the three, Jak II gets my vote for hardest. No, not just because it had the highest death toll! Because of the racing! Argh, Zoomer racing.

I promised my brother I would finish Star Ocean before working on anything else. So! That is all for now.
Here is more in(s)ane commentary for Jak 3, as promised.

The sky is falling! )

And the dying continues!

Die, Jak. Die. )

I thought I didn't have work tomorrow, but apparently I cannot read the schedule and actually have Friday off. Oh, well.
jecca_mehlota: (Just say no.)
( May. 19th, 2007 11:57 pm)
Alas, I cannot remember how to conjugate "to die" right now and am too lazy to go rummage through my old school notes and find it.

...I got my butt kicked. )

That is all for tonight!

More Deaths. )

I'm going to assume I'm at least at the halfway point by now. Maybe finishing Wednesday is possible!
jecca_mehlota: (Leap!)
( May. 19th, 2007 12:30 am)
Pan's Labyrinth came out on DVD recently and so, as I'm trying to save my money, I went out and bought a copy. Brilliant.

Worth it, though. It's a wonderful movie, if a bit gory and brutal at times.

I realized I only have until Wednesday to beat this game, so I am trying to hurry up. (My brother comes home Wednesday! Yay! But then he will want me to play ... whatever game it is he wants me to play, and I promised him I would, so.) I guess it is a good thing I've never had much in the way of a social life.

Yes, more video games. )

Death List!

Noncumulative Death Count. )

I think I pulled a muscle in my neck or something, and I have to go to work tomorrow and sling baking stuff about for twelve (twelve? I must have been looking at the clock and reflecting on the time or something) eight hours. This bodes ill.
Okay! First off, Transformers Theatrical Trailer 2. I cannot stop grinning. WHY IS IT NOT JUNE NOW?

More Jak. )

DEATH OCCURRED.

Naturally. )

Got my paper back. I, er. I'm surprised! I got an A. Teacher commented it seemed as though I had experience writing reports. ...well, yeah. Actually, what she wrote was, "She produced a first rate research paper - I have the sense that she has plenty of experience with research paper writing, as she clearly knows what she is doing. Her shorter essays were all well composed, well edited, and delightful to read."

... *warm fuzzies*
I ended up flipping a coin to decide between Final Fantasy XII and Jak 3.

Jak 3 won. )

And what would this be without a death count.

Death List! )

And now I go to bed! Tomorrow I find out how I did in English Comp. Nervous!
jecca_mehlota: (work)
( Feb. 26th, 2007 03:45 am)
Sunday seems to be, "stay up until unholy hours playing video games and doing homework" night. Though I suppose technically it is Monday morning now. Whatever.

Anyway, I've been playing Jak II on and off all weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and I beat it! Any remaining coherency is really rather gone by the end of this, seeing as it is... almost 4 am and I am still awake.

To the end! )

That was awesome!

I really like video games where I manage to guess at least some of the giant plot points before they're actually revealed. It usually means I was thinking about the game a lot and that the developers put in enough information for it all to make sense. The weird thing is that I don't like movies where I can do that. Usually because I end up predicting the entire plot while watching it, and I'm not supposed to be able to predict the entire story while watching it. I do not think about the plot while watching/playing! That usually comes during breaks and stuff. (So, uh basically, if I am predicting your movie while watching it for the first time, it might be too ... you know, predictable.)

(Some games are stupidly predictable, too, of course, but that is another story, and on and on.)

Also I died a lot.

Death list for today )

And of course...

Cumulative )

...aand, that might be it for a while. We'll see how much schoolwork I'm given before I pop in Jak 3. (Ha, they change their numbering system. That is oddly amusing! hee!)

Not that I went and bought it halfway through the first game or anything.

Oh. I collected 527 Metal Head... things... and only 62 Precursor Orbs.
jecca_mehlota: (Trouble comes in pairs)
( Feb. 22nd, 2007 10:53 pm)
I ended up not going into work today, because I spend the day on my feet, and when the room starts spinning every time you stand up? Yeah, bad times. I'm fine, so long as I'm sitting down and not talking. Besides, I work with food. You don't want a sick person handling your food. (Also I don't think running around in a giant freezer would be good for me right now.) So I played Jak II on and off all day (like when I wasn't napping or making tea. mmm, tea).

This is long. )

And the deaths for the day.

Still not cumulative, of course. )

I have come to the conclusion that the writing I see around town must actually be that: writing. There's probably a way to crack it.

...Which means I get to learn another fictional language/code! I mean, what's one more on top of Maximal and Predacon glyphs, Al Bhed, my own made up alphabet, and ... whatever little bit of Tolkien's Elven I can remember, which really isn't much. (Oh, I am a terrific dork.)

Yay!

Though first I might google it to see if anyone else has cracked it, first. I am sure people have, I just do not know if I will be able to find it. (I think I have "H" figured out, since Krew's bar is the Hip Hog Bar, and the shape at the beginning of the sign over the door appears twice.)
