wyntir_rose's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (Or Belated Birthday, whenever you see this? I don't know! I have not seen you floating around LJ, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything!) Don't ask me to sing.
I'm so awful about keeping on top of these. BUT I REMEMBERED THIS TIME, YAY.
So I said I was done the other night, but then I sat around for a bit and decided I'd never finish the game if I pulled idiot stunts like that just because one whole track was too hard and my controller may or may not be broken. So then I came back.
That first loss is actually me finishing my brother's lap, since he walked off mid-race after figuring my X-button was hopeless. I had left it paused there, instead of just turning the system off.
Though then I failed the Rush Hour race, too. 420 for a Bronze? Forget it. I wonder how many races I can skip if I get a gold everywhere else?
OH THANK GOD. The first qualifier is a Death Race. 239 / 170
Okay: Grand Prix takes 50 medal points. I have to score gold ... most all but one of them to skip anything. So I might need to finish the Rush Hour race, at least. Hrg. Back to it, then.

D'you know what they should have made impossible? Getting stuck on the wall. Especially in a FREEZE RALLY. I have always hated the sewers. Now I just have one more reason for it.

I was so sure the Blue team had just scored their winning goal, but apparently I blew them up at the last possible second, because when I couldn't break in time and sailed through their base (just a glowing sphere, doesn't do anything if you run through it), I picked up a power cell! So we won!
Ah, finally another scene--- ooh, shoot. We're about to break the news about how Krew-- ah, no, BLITZ is gonna interrupt us and break the news. ....
....WELL, THAT WENT WELL.
There. Now, except for that Primus-forsaken Waterworks Circuit, I'm finished with Haven.

It amuses me that the Southern tour is in the Icelands. Normally south is associated with warmth, at least in my mind. I suppose there's the southern pole, though. (Of course, the desert wasteland is the Northern Tour, isn't it? So maybe I shouldn't be surprised.)
It occurs to me to wonder where Razer's disappeared to. I.. actually, I don't think I've seen him since the last Grand Prix.

... I just had a moment of absolute panic as I realized this is the last major event before the final Grand Prix. I'm not sure why that set me off.
This field set-up is terrible.
Blitz is eating poultry. Pecker objects. It could be his uncle. I admire Blitz's willpower in not eating more of it, faster, considering how well he gets along with Pecker. Blah blah family angst. Jak knows who his friends really are. ... mostly the same people he'd been calling his friends all along, which is good.
...... yes, Blitz, and, how could you know what surprise announcement Mizo is going to make? Well, maybe you just know there's going to be a surprise driver. Still. You're quite the suspicious fellow.

I officially hate whatever genius decided to make (a) the base right next to the ocean and (b) decided to make a hill immediately prior to the base so that you catch air as you approach it.

GRAND PRIX IS OPEN!
There are two races I've earned nothing in, and one I've only earned a Bronze in. I now go back and attempt the Spargus Rush hour event again! Because LIKE HELL am I revisiting the Waterworks again.

Someone remind me which the Eastern Tour is. I'm scared it might be Haven. Please don't let that be Haven. Except it pretty much has to be, because the Southern tour is the Icelands, and Spargus and Kras are both already in the locations line-up. CRUUUD.

As Blitz mentioned before, Mizo has brought in a mysterious new racer, supposedly one of the best in the world.
ARGH KREW. ....er, I mean. The hologram again. He's not actually there.
Daxter and Ashelin don't feel so good, but we can't tell if it's from having to look at Krew again, psychosomatic from Krew musing about the poison dosage, or because they're actually not feeling well from said poison. (Daxter doesn't look good, either, but he's fairly animated, so that's not really a clue.)
(Meanwhile, Jecca has spent the entire game idly wondering if the Light Eco healing abilities Jak has have cured him already. One would think they could, at least.)
... Ashelin, I'm sure Sig appreciates the sentiment, but he's not the one needing someone watching his back. He is not, you know, dying from a poison. How about you just not blow me out of the water every five seconds these few races? That's sort of like watching Sig's back.

So, something that's always been weird to me about this game? I need to win medals to advance. I need GOLD medals to win cups. NO ONE ELSE DOES. Possibly this is because I represent my team and so my wins count as their wins, so they can all advance. But the other team never wins. Do they get a free pass because they're the defending champions of the racetracks? Or what? And how come we can add drivers whenever we want? VERY STRANGE.

Blitz, Razer, and I just had a Peace Maker war in the last fourth of the second lap of the final event. Someone took out Blitz, allowing me to catch up to him. I took out Blitz. Blitz (I think?) fired one off in return, so I stopped and it took out Razer. Blitz passed me again and I... picked up a second Peace Maker blast. So he bit it again.
eeeeee I won!
As suspected, there was an ulterior motive - Krew'd been trying to get rid of Mizo for years, apparently. And Blitz... ha, poor Blitz. I knew you were evil. Blitz is the mysterious driver and Mizo (which we had suspected) (...and he's also bald, but we actually knew that, didn't we, Pecker?), and he was... I dunno, going to finish us and everyone else off, or something, except Pecker brought the camera over, so now everyone watching knows who he is.
.... SO HE JUST STOLE OUR ANTIDOTES.

Aw, I liked Blitz. Even if he was obnoxious. It was a fun kind of obnoxious.
We're all unpoisoned and sitting around to live happily ever after or whatever while Daxter tells his version of the events. (Samos, uh, I'm sorry... Keira's driving was not good at all. But, hey. I understand the sentiment, I suppose.) HUGZ. Rayn wanders off after a short speech and accidentally (or probably not, really) leaves Krew's diary... which Daxter activates, and we learn, surprise! (Or, again, not really.) Rayn wasn't actually poisoned. By pouring into her own glass first, she was spared the poison, because apparently this poison didn't diffuse throughout the liquid? Beats me.
Meanwhile, Rayn is driving away and calling a meeting of all the crime bosses. Though, yay, she tells whoever she's talking to not to kill us, because we were her friends. Which is probably why she gave us the antidote even though she clearly didn't have to.
BACK INSIDE. Everyone is surprised - who would have thought Rayn a crime lord? ... AND ASHELIN WINS THE GAME! Ha HA! "Well, if you'd all been thinking with your... heads." Everyone else in the room: *shame*
AAUGH FACE ASSAULT.

There were 9 events in which I did not die at all. :D
My brother was killed 26 times, restarted once, and quit the race twice.
There you have it. Irrefutable proof that this game is, in fact, beatable! (IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU. NO, I DON'T CARE WHO "YOU" IS.) Though, actually, isn't that my highest death count for all four games in the series that I've played?

Not counting the 3 recorded (believe me, there were others) system freezes or the 6 times I restarted the race, I died 798 times. (799 if you could the MISSION FAILED I received for crashing into the ocean during the last race, which I certainly do.)
There were 9 events in which I did not die at all. :D
My brother was killed 26 times, restarted once, and quit the race twice.
There you have it. Irrefutable proof that this game is, in fact, beatable! (IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU. NO, I DON'T CARE WHO "YOU" IS.) Though, actually, isn't that my highest death count for all four games in the series that I've played?
