I'm hoping someone here can help me, or knows someone else who can help. My father's looking for an episode of what he thinks is from the classic Doctor Who. Here is everything I know about it:

He thinks there was a planet-sized computer, possibly the episode took place on this planet-computer-thing. This computer had been spending centuries trying to calculate the answer to a question. When it came up with an answer, he thinks it might have been 6, but it might have been 42. He can't be sure he isn't crossing that with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (though it could very well have been a reference).

Anyone?

I'm not really familiar with Classic Who (yet? SOMEDAY), so I can't even guess if this might have been an episode or not.
Internal calendar has stopped being a day ahead and is now just confused. Is this a step up? Step back? Step sideways? ALSO I keep forgetting Monday is Memorial Day and the post office will not be open so no, I cannot mail this. Frustration.

Anyway, I accidentally got dragged around to lawn/yard/garage/rummage/barn/INSERT TERM HERE sales by my parents this weekend! It was not a waste! For example, we found an awesome sewing machine! And I got a neat map of Lake Champlain (or, uh, half of it, at least. The top part is on another piece of paper that they did not have)! And some thread, and a dumpling steamer. And some other random stuff!

Also, last weekend, for twenty-five cents, my mother found me this! So okay, he's not got... a fair bit, actually (no accessories... or arms, haha), but whatever. The body is in great shape! Maybe I will try to collect all the missing pieces. It can be my project! Or. Something!

Now that I have turned over to robots, I am going to tell you: the All Hail Megatron Coda story "Everything in Its Right Place" is delicious and amazing and I want more. TOO BAD I CAN'T HAVE ANY. Moving on to Wreckers now, which I am fairly confidant will also be amazing. And slightly more death-filled. But then I will be all out. Unless I decide to actually start reading the ongoing. Is anyone following that? Is it better than it looks and sounds to be? Do you stop noticing the weird new faces eventually?

(Also, for a good example of Things You Don't Expect To Find On The Transformers Wiki: Daleks.)

And speaking of Doctor Who, a couple things in this Saturday's episode made me unreasonably angry. Aaargh. *punches everyone*

I can't think of a way to bring this one up. OH WELL. I had this secret/comment thread brought to my attention! And I laughed and laughed and laughed and then went and wept a little. Oh, that damn dolphin.

THIS IS NOT THE ENTRY I CAME HERE TO MAKE but I guess that will wait another day.
Do not ask why I am awake at this unholy hour.

So, my week. Well, week and a half. My parents had been planning on hopping over to visit my brother for a bit, do some other random sight-seeing things... The dog is old and feeble and requires a lot of special care, and since my parents were having trouble sitting down and deciding on when to go, they didn't bother booking him and the cat at the kennel. They'd actually asked me a bit ago if I could house-and-pet sit while they were out, and I agreed to, on the conditions that they give me enough warning that I could inform my internship people and wrap up any business here in town, and that there be food in the house. Not, you know, meals, but at least ingredients, yeah? So, last Monday circa 7 pm, my mother contacts me over AIM to let me know they're leaving the next morning, surprise.

So there was that. )

And then, despite having done nothing much beyond sit all week, I turned on the television to set it up to record later and discovered BBC America was just about to run all of Torchwood: Children of Earth and so somehow I ended up watching that. I did remember to record the Doctor Who special that was on after, at least. (My father wanted to see it, but he was too tired after driving all over the place, so instead of him coming over to watch it, his cassette came over, instead. The poor thing is started to wear a bit thing, but I think the image and sound should be okay...?)

AND THEN I got Aniko watching Doctor Who somehow (???) and right now she's watching the end of series two (Doomsday).

In completely unrelated news, today - yesterday? WEDNESDAY - was the last day of my internship! Now I just need to write a paper and get this all in to the instructor somehow. I am very sad it is over, but at the same time, it is kind of nice? Also, once my current round of blisters clears up, then new ones won't appear. Which, you know, bonus.

Still exhausted all the time, but definitely feeling much better. I hope to be done coughing within the next week or so...

I have been spending my afternoons marathoning Doctor Who. I do not know why, but four, maybe five days ago I started in with series one (of the reboot, I mean) and now I'm almost finished with three. (Actually, I feel a bit bad, because I'm kind of glad this one's almost done. I adore Martha as an individual, but I don't like her much at all as a companion, for as much sense as that may make.) (... There are a lot more two-parters than I remember.) (AUGH BLINK)

Really, self, what?

So not only am I behaving oddly in that I am watching loads of episodes all in a row, it's of a show I've already seen and is not one that, aside from greatly enjoying, I've ever given much in the way of obsessing to. Next you know I'll be looking for fanfiction.

I hope my voice and hearing and balance are all back by the time I run out, because then what? Though I do at least have shows I haven't watched yet. (So, uh, why aren't you just watching those now? I don't know! Because for whatever reason I'm marathoning Doctor Who! Didn't we already have this conversation?)

On a completely unrelated note, did LJ tweak their look a bit, or has my browser simply lost its mind? When I click to view entries, for example, the top of the entry - date, time, name, user pic - is buried somewhere under the LJ menu-bar thing. Looks like this, to use this previous entry as an example.

Right, so it's really not that I'm much farther into the show... four episodes. Total. Amazing. Except considering last time I checked I was three episodes in and that was something like four days ago and I've done, you know, nothing in-between.

... No, really. I've done approximately nothing between then and now.

.......Shut up, I'm rambling, anyway!

Supernatural, slightly )

I was going to say more but all of a sudden I'm passing out on my keyboard, so I guess I'm going to bed, instead.

... and, you know, on a completely unrelated subject, two days ago at work I was randomly hit with the desire for Jak and Daxter related... I dunno, anything and I'm not sure where that came from, but it doesn't appear to be going away. I may end up braving FF.net's section, but I sorely hope it does not come to that.

Reason I have the best microcomputer applications class in the history of ever: in this week's class, we elected Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck as president and vice. (The professor was showing us one of the problems with computer-based voting! We had two elections - each "ballot" was the same, but in the results for the second tally, he wrote a program to miscount votes.)

Awesome award. ...Boom.

(Why does "awesome" prompt a boom? Very simple reason, actually. Michael Bay is an explosions lunatic. That article is hilarious.)

ANYWAY. Over at the anonymous meme, someone (I do not know who! Because it is anonymous!) commented that sie wished we had more in common! And I thought about that a bit and it occurred to me, I am not really sure I actually have that much in common with anyone on my friends list!

So I am going to list all of my major fandoms! And maybe why I like them in some cases, and whether or not I actually lurk the fanbase. And then people should feel free to leave comments telling me fandoms they think I should get into! Because I really love getting into new fandoms!

And this an open invitation to everyone! Not whoever left the comment! Because, as I said, it's not as if I'll know, anyway.

In no particular order, then... )

....Aaaand now nothing else is coming to mind. Am I missing any important fandoms or categories? PROBABLY. But, yes. Do we share more fandoms than we thought? Or do I have any fandoms you are interested in? Or do you have any fandoms I should be interested in?
Monday nights are good, because the Canadian channel we pick up airs "new" Doctor Who episodes. New to North America, anyway! I've already seen all of them, I think, but whatever, I don't mind rewatching them (on a proper screen!) in the least. So Dad records it (it starts while I'm still at work) and then we watch it after I get home.

And mostly I am just ridiculously happy because tonight was "Blink," and even though it still freaks me out (that episode scares me slightly more than it should, maybe, up until the ending sequence at which point I just laugh a lot. LOOK STATUES OH NOES), I really like that one. (It delights me to no end that we the viewers - fourth wall? What fourth wall? - seeing the angels on the screen is enough to make them be stone. I really love that.) Though, self, we are not going to spend the next week looking over our shoulders in paranoia again, thank you. ONCE OF THAT WAS ENOUGH.

I still think the guy (his last name's Nightingale and I don't know his first. The brother of the woman who went to 1920) Laurence (hooray inability to remember names!) should've just held one eye open, but I guess in the face of that, not thinking clearly is entirely permissible. gaah.

(Dad doesn't like the episodes that happen in the present day. I've no idea what's wrong with him.)
