Internal calendar has stopped being a day ahead and is now just confused. Is this a step up? Step back? Step sideways? ALSO I keep forgetting Monday is Memorial Day and the post office will not be open so no, I cannot mail this. Frustration.

Anyway, I accidentally got dragged around to lawn/yard/garage/rummage/barn/INSERT TERM HERE sales by my parents this weekend! It was not a waste! For example, we found an awesome sewing machine! And I got a neat map of Lake Champlain (or, uh, half of it, at least. The top part is on another piece of paper that they did not have)! And some thread, and a dumpling steamer. And some other random stuff!

Also, last weekend, for twenty-five cents, my mother found me this! So okay, he's not got... a fair bit, actually (no accessories... or arms, haha), but whatever. The body is in great shape! Maybe I will try to collect all the missing pieces. It can be my project! Or. Something!

Now that I have turned over to robots, I am going to tell you: the All Hail Megatron Coda story "Everything in Its Right Place" is delicious and amazing and I want more. TOO BAD I CAN'T HAVE ANY. Moving on to Wreckers now, which I am fairly confidant will also be amazing. And slightly more death-filled. But then I will be all out. Unless I decide to actually start reading the ongoing. Is anyone following that? Is it better than it looks and sounds to be? Do you stop noticing the weird new faces eventually?

(Also, for a good example of Things You Don't Expect To Find On The Transformers Wiki: Daleks.)

And speaking of Doctor Who, a couple things in this Saturday's episode made me unreasonably angry. Aaargh. *punches everyone*

I can't think of a way to bring this one up. OH WELL. I had this secret/comment thread brought to my attention! And I laughed and laughed and laughed and then went and wept a little. Oh, that damn dolphin.

THIS IS NOT THE ENTRY I CAME HERE TO MAKE but I guess that will wait another day.

So, as it turns out, now that I am awake and can probably think about these things, the reason I couldn't remember anything of the process or the layout or even what I was supposed to be doing, and the reason I could not find the level-select code is because it doesn't exist. (Though you'd think my subconscious could've strung together eight letters if it can make a whole level up.)

It's is just as well, really. There were entirely too many Vortex drones and those weird worm-things for my liking, and I died too much.

Today the plan is to get together with a couple friends (and a couple of their friends) and watch movies until our brains leak out our ears. Hopefully fun!

On ...Tuesday? I was poking around with my PSP edition of the Sega Genesis Collection, and instead of pressing Triangle or whatever it is to read the "museum" blurb about the game, I accidentally pressed the confirm button, instead. And then, because I am an idiot, I decided to not just restart, but kept going, and somehow found myself starting to play through Ecco: The Tides of Time. Oops. Vacation put a bit of a delay in it, but then I came back and had to finish. I will share with you.

MY LIFE AS ECCO
Tides of Time edition. )

On the positive side, I now no longer desire to play Defender of the Future.
Have I mentioned it? Did you know there was a time you could type "Valkurm" into Google and in the search results, it'd pop up, "Did you mean "HELL"?" Wish I'd saved a screenshot so badly.

Supernatural's 'Houses of the Holy' versus Jecca's memories of Doctor Who's 'Blink' .... FIGHT! I don't care that none of them were weeping. I'm just glad that whole scene in the room with the statues wasn't too long.

Also, I've discovered, entirely by accident, that I am able to take screencaps! Bwaha! I thought FRAPS only snapped from FFXI, but I opened my screenshots folder to sort them to my external hard drive and there were, somehow, Supernatural images in with them. How confusing! I'd seen FRAPS take shots from WinAMP, but that had only happened while I was playing, and I assumed it was because I have WinAMP set to always be on top. I have not been playing FFXI and watching Supernatural at the same time (man, that'd be hard), but I have been talking over IM, and I have, on occasion, used the \ key, which is set to save an image.

(A bit relatedly, and amusingly, my mother made extreme woe-faces at me this evening when I informed her I had decided to stop waiting for her to have time. I assured her I'd be willing to watch it with her, anyway.)

Unrelated, that Ecco is featured on TV Tropes under the video game section of Nightmare Fuel (search the page for Ecco, as it's quite a ways down) amuses me so much. Also is a bit of a relief, because IT'S ALL SO TRUUUEE. I swear I wasn't the one to add it. (Oh, it actually has its own page, too! Cool.)

That Silent Hill isn't really listed on that page also amuses me, though obviously for very different reasons.

Edit:
Re: 'Born Under a Bad Sign' at about the halfway point: Saaaaaam. *weeeeeeeep* Clearly it must not be what they're trying to make us think it is, but I WEEEEEEEEP.

(I mean, I am despairing for both of them, but considering the potential/problem here...)

Does anyone have a Sega CD? You know, this thing.

Because I totally have a game for you.

...HINT: THE ICON IS A CLUE. so are the tags

(You may remember my brother bought me this game for Christmas last year. Well, apparently my mother accidentally bought two copies, and they've finally told me this and given me the second copy. Because I totally need two.)
With dolphins in my brain, it is hard to think, so I finally broke down and brought my PS2 back into my room and hooked it up, popped in Ecco: DoF and... almost went.

Then I remembered, you know, I bought a microphone a while back and my computer has recording software. And everyone comments on my habit of talking to video games, especially Ecco. So I took a minute to set everything up and then went.

I was very quiet up until the five minute mark, then made a couple comments... and then around the 8-9 minute mark, acknowledged to myself that the microphone was making me self-conscious.

Then not long after that, I reached the second pool and, okay, yeah, I, uh. Talk to myself and the game a lot. Though I don't make dolphin-esque noises as much as I'd been led to believe. (I do make a fair amount of just random noises, though.) This is kind of entertaining and kind of frightening, because I really have no recollection of saying most of this. (I remember all my comments to the dog, and I remember telling the Death Glyph that resurrects you to shut up a few times, but most of the rest of it? All new.)

Also, I hum/make noises along with the soundtrack a lot.
THIS IS ME NOT TALKING ABOUT THE USA Life on Mars PROMOTIONAL VIDEO/TRAILER/THING THAT IS OUT NOW.

Here.

Have some more Ecco haiku that I will probably upload to FF.net if my account ever starts working properly again. (Maybe it's working now. I think I stopped checking about a month ago.) And, you know. If I finish them. HOW DO YOU HAVE UNFINISHED HAIKU?

... What, I'm supposed to have an answer for that?

DOLPHINS )

ffffff* my brother suggested I try to do speed runs of Ecco levels (he's been timing himself for the final level of Sonic 2. He can beat Metal Sonic - 8 hits - and Robotnik's Death Eggwalker Thing - 12 hits - both of which can kill you quite easily as there are no rings in the final level - in 49 seconds) and dolphins got in my blood and I cannot get them back out.

* When did I get into the habit of hissing air out through my teeth in an "fffssss" sound when frustrated? Seriously, what is this?

WHOEVER INVENTED "THE MACHINE" NEEDS TO BE SENT THERE. DON'T EVEN TALK TO ME ABOUT "City of Forever." Unless you want to watch me, I don't know, explode or something.

...I DON'T FEEL BETTER NOW.

Edit:
To entertain myself, I just went browsing on GameFAQs for Ecco walkthroughs. This one is hilarious and contains the truest line ever:
Ecco's Likelyhood of Survival (against Trilobites)- So bad, if I represented this on a numeric scale, the number is so low it hasn't been invented yet.

Reason I have the best microcomputer applications class in the history of ever: in this week's class, we elected Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck as president and vice. (The professor was showing us one of the problems with computer-based voting! We had two elections - each "ballot" was the same, but in the results for the second tally, he wrote a program to miscount votes.)

Awesome award. ...Boom.

(Why does "awesome" prompt a boom? Very simple reason, actually. Michael Bay is an explosions lunatic. That article is hilarious.)

ANYWAY. Over at the anonymous meme, someone (I do not know who! Because it is anonymous!) commented that sie wished we had more in common! And I thought about that a bit and it occurred to me, I am not really sure I actually have that much in common with anyone on my friends list!

So I am going to list all of my major fandoms! And maybe why I like them in some cases, and whether or not I actually lurk the fanbase. And then people should feel free to leave comments telling me fandoms they think I should get into! Because I really love getting into new fandoms!

And this an open invitation to everyone! Not whoever left the comment! Because, as I said, it's not as if I'll know, anyway.

In no particular order, then... )

....Aaaand now nothing else is coming to mind. Am I missing any important fandoms or categories? PROBABLY. But, yes. Do we share more fandoms than we thought? Or do I have any fandoms you are interested in? Or do you have any fandoms I should be interested in?

Someday, I am going to invent a word for how much I both love and hate these games. Today is not that day.

Today I was flung from the Tube of Medusa no less than twenty times! Then I stopped counting. (That is only flingings, that is not me charging blindly in my mad dash to escape the medusa and missing the next series of water tubes.) Clearly, I am a bit out of practice. That I am playing with a keyboard instead of a system controller probably is not helping, as I have never found a key set-up that I like. Also, it is a lot harder to button-mash on a keyboard, or at least it is for me. Less with the moving dolphin, more with the being thrown.

Supposedly, in Hard Mode, there are multiple medusas. I have never attempted it. One is bad enough. (I have been struck by enough lunacy to play Asterite's Cave on Hard, which mostly means there are, like, FIFTY THOUSAND lost baby orcas, as opposed to just twenty, or whatever. I do not recommend ever doing that.)

Dinner was Thai, and my mother and I were going to watch a DVD, but the DVD-player is ridiculous and we could not get it to work. (After we finally got the DVD menu up, the system refused to accept commands from the remote, so we literally couldn't get it to play. This is just another reason why I like my PS2 - it is very easy to play DVDs on it.)

And one of the crucial missing points for "GT" may have fallen into place at work (in between radio commercial jingles and Girl Scout campfire songs - my brain appears to be set to "shuffle"). Wikipedia is failing my fact-checking, but whatever. The "American Holiday" was summer, 2006, and the GT went in... autumn. And if not, well... That's how it goes here. SO THERE.

I stressed all week and overworked myself and got sick with a Headache of Doom (there was also queasiness, exhaustion, and a nosebleed!), and even talked someone into coming and helping me present tomorrow, and, of course...

There's a snowstorm (aka AUGH WEATHER) that's blown in and they've decided to postpone it. It's kind of frustrating.

The spiders are waking up! For the last week, every time I've stepped into the shower - surprise! Spider in the bathroom! WHY?! Why can't they come out when I'm brushing my teeth or something? Or at least stay on the far wall? Why do they always have to be directly over or beside my head? WHY WHY WHY? STOP IT NOW, BLAST YOU. Stop being near me. Go back outside or... or back to sleep or something. Just... stop falling in front of me in the shower, please, please, please. I don't like spiders in my bathroom. ...At least I do not scream!

Despite all sanity telling me otherwise, I've kicked up the old Ecco games. Again. Altantis, I HATE YOU. YOU AND YOUR MISERABLE WALLS! I'm honestly not sure which is worse! Up until about six months ago, as far as I knew, you had to cross the walls. Sure, it took you a couple days, but everyone had to do it, right?

NO! NO, THERE'S A BLASTED SHORTCUT AND I ONLY LEARNED ABOUT IT SIX MONTHS AGO. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH AGONY I COULD HAVE SPARED MYSELF IF I'D ONLY KNOWN ABOUT THIS SOONER?! ISEGHDN

...My God, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly I lose all sense to incoherent rage once I start talking about these games. I'm going to put down my keyboard now.

I do not think my parents will ever understand what, exactly, I am finding so silly about this song. Oh, well. Their loss. (Also, haa, Jeremy drops his drumsticks! I have no idea why that's so funny, but I giggled a lot. Probably more than was justifiable.)
I am supposed to be making a poster on Why I Think Seahorses are Awesome for my psychology class (weird story). Never mind that I don't especially think seahorses are awesome. Though there are certainly worse things.

Like trilobites.

Which brings me to the real problem here. I have ... not a vendetta, certainly, but there's some bad blood between me and the seahorses. You see, in the prehistoric levels of Ecco the Dolphin yes, it all really does come back to Ecco eventually, there is a giant seahorse. That in itself is not so bad, except that it shoots seahorse babies at you and the only way to escape the onslaught of killer seahorse babies is to swim away, which also isn't so bad except it then leads you straight into a trilobite ambush where you DIE. HORRIBLY!

Man, I hate trilobites. Evil little buggers. Plotting to take over the world or something, I swear. It's a good thing they all died out, or vanished, or whatever they really did. Dug holes and are asleep, awaiting the day of the Great Arising, when they shall rise and once again terrorize the seas.

Stuck in a cavern.
The Clan attacks! Run away!
Oh no! Crocodile!

Perhaps I like writing Ecco-haiku a little too much (they're cathartic, shut up).

It can join the others once FF.net starts working again. ...I know they're called "of Hope" because you find one of the orbs there, and because the Outcasts live there and they're not all evil and spiky (despite trying to kill you by throwing giant shells at you when you arrive) but, ugh. I really here it comes hate that level. Stupid Clan. Stupid leader-dolphin running away every time one of the Clan so much as looks at him. Stupid giant crocodile. Stupid vitalits. When they brought Ecco: DoF to the PS2 from the Dreamcast, they changed the location of one - one - vitalit. In the whole game, they changed one vitalit. It was, of course, in this level, and I died eleven times (stupid air gauge!) trying to find it!

I was less than amused to discover a small, glowing thing hovering in the air above the pool after the crocodile.

Edit:
Hey, so, why does FF.net email the author when they put something up? I mean... I'm well aware I've uploaded something. I was the one that uploaded it. So weird.

Why did no one tell me that this had all the Ecco games for the Genesis!?

ITS GLORY IS MINE.

Oh, you crazy dolphin, you. Once more you are in my possession! Once more you can torment me! Once more I can find millions of baby whales / globes / fish!

Now I have all the Ecco games for PS2! >D

... I mean, I still have them all and their original systems, but now I have easy access to them all. This will only end in tears of frustration and screaming rage.

I have no idea why I love these games. D'you know what I say at the loading screen of every single level in every single game?! I say, in all seriousness, because I really do mean it; "I hate this level! =\"

EVERY. SINGLE. LEVEL.

I am so. SO. So cold. It is cold outside. It is cold inside. We do not heat the house. It's like 50 degrees in here. askjfdgfl *shivers*

So, uh, in advance. Happy dead-turkey day to all my fellow USAns. (That, by the way, is pronounced oo-sans, not us-ans, though I suppose you could say it that way, too... I mean, I've never heard anyone else ever say it, though, so I say it's oo-sans. Because referring to people from the USA as strictly "Americans" is very silly. What about Canada and Central and South America?)

Silent Hill crosses over with everything. Not only that, but it dominates everything it crosses with. *bats plot-bunnies away from ankles*

...Except Ecco. But that's because Ecco is driven by blind rage and is a destructive force not to be reckoned with. That poor dolphin. vitalit >.>

I love Silent Hill, in an "oh god oh god WHY DID I THINK PLAYING THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA? WHYYYY" kind of way. Ever since picking it up for the first time, I've checked down the halls, into side rooms, and out the windows when it's dark out. I loaned SH2 out to a friend of mine, so I've been enjoying hearing about his experiences running around as the totally insane James Sunderland. (Because, really, James is totally insane. You can't help but like him, though. James is your friend. or maybe that's just me)

He's coming along pretty well, got through the Labyrinth (and picked up the Great Knife along the way :D). Actually, he's stuck in the hotel. Can't find the last music box.

I went out to the mall today. Checked the bookstore, both game stores, and the toy store. Didn't really see anything new and exciting worth buying (I already picked up Okami, and it is silly amounts of fun), aside from the little two-inch Titanium Unicron figure. Then I checked Toys R Us but, again, nothing. I really think they restock on Mondays. Possibly I went out looking for toys because I'm trying not to think too hard about this weekend being BotCon. OBVIOUSLY I AM FAILING AT THIS. ARG.

This song is giving me a headache. What an appropriate band name.
