APOCALYPSE HOURS ARE REVEALED! I mean, we already knew when the servers were going offline, but now we know when to gather (... we already knew where) for The Last Stand. 1am on the 11th, I will see you soon. Soonish. Eh. (Part of my strange dream sequence last night included a bit where there was a new final boss and it was a Tarutaru - no, not a Lalafell - in a biplane - I don't know - and you had to beat him, but fortunately for everyone it was really easy.)


SO HEY I said last entry that monsters have been attacking towns. It got worse! yay! SE didn't like how easily we were dispatching everything, so they super-powered the monsters. And then people would literally spend a whole day smacking them and they would lose maybe 1% of their total hit points? Eventually the strategy turned into "send Warriors out with no armor on and have them use their job ability that reflects damage onto the attacker" and that was sort of better. And then a few people were like, you know, we had to go /pray at the symbols of the 12 deities, and now it's the end of days, maybe we need to try /praying? So they /prayed, and then they /prayed at the monsters, and OH MY GOSH sometimes it killed them! Whoa! So we determined we needed mass amounts of people wearing their deity ring to /pray at monsters. Only it didn't always work so clearly we were missing something.


Well.


Turns out what we were missing was that the GM (who are the ones spawning monsters) have been watching this madness and were so amused by our /pray efforts that they would sometimes then smack the monster dead. Only, you know, if they weren't watching closely, or standing elsewhere, or just didn't feel like it, of course it wasn't going to work. FGS.

But they thought this was really clever! So they passed along our efforts, and also some of the crazy things we've all been shouting about in town, and they put out another minor update... And now! NOW if you /pray at a monster, it's an affront to the Twelve because WHY ARE YOU PRAYING FOR OUR ATTACKERS and they strike you dead. Whoops, haha! But if you just /pray or if you /pray for a fellow player, they grant you (or your target) strength! Pretty awesome.

Also they lowered the monsters a bit, so now they can be killed but are not total pushovers, yay.


ALSO hahaha if you sleep in an inn room and then /check the bed, they're handing out free relic weapons (relic weapons are the best ones in the game and are a major pain to get, often requiring extreme amounts of time, energy, and gil). So now I have the relic weapons for both my jobs, woohoo! It's awesome. RELICS FAIRY IS BEST FAIRY.

(They can do that because, of course, the last server backup was on the 31st of October, so none of this is going to stick.)

(And of course now people are whining that we should be allowed to keep them as a reward for sticking around for the last week+. lolno. Nice try, guys.)

(Actually, I do admit I really like the idea someone tossed out of them becoming a broken weapon item that could only be used as a furnishing for our home. Broken Gae Bolg mounted on my wall? Yes, please.) (The shield and sword would be less awesome.)

I'm going to try to make one of these every day. Due to my tendency to lose track of midnight, though, there may be the occasional two posts in one day and none on another. Not that that is really important? Meh.

LJ WHY THE HELL DO YOU KEEP REROUTING ME TO RANDOM RUSSIAN JOURNALS.

In light of the recent wtf-ery of LJ linking themselves with Facebook and Twitter and allowing you to crosspost your entries (and your comments, and your comments on other's entries, regardless of privacy level), I would just like to note that my LJ account is not linked to anything (and if it is ever linked with anything, it will only be with Dreamwidth [does anyone want an invite code? I have something like 20]), so you don't need to worry about me crossposting things from locked (or public) entries.

(For me, at this moment, and so long as an entry is public, I don't particularly care, but - as always - if it's locked, it's locked for a reason, however obscure, and I ask for that to be respected and thus for people to not crosspost any comments on those entries.)


There's no opt-out option (yet? Hopefully they'll fix that, but I'm not optimistic), but here are some details on how to make the check boxes disappear from your own view, at least.

If anyone remembers this drama from back in March, it looks like LJ's trying again. Still not so great. All the info you could want is in this post, here.


Have other, possibly actually interesting, things to post, but it will have to wait until a point when I am not feeling like I have been run over.


...So, yeah, seriously? Nothing like dropping yourself 20 years in the past where everything can - AND WILL - happily eat you and discovering, in the middle of a crowd of sound-aggro mobs, that you are subbing blm and not nin like you thought. DID NOT DIE. Not sure how.



Also, whatever is making ALL THE PETS IN THE WORLD sick/er this week/month, knock it off right this instant. Three people here, another three from real life, my own dog (at least his didn't turn into an emergency)... This is distressing and uncool and it makes me sad.

So there was this woman at work today! ... Not a surprise, since I work retail and, you know, customers are kind of the norm, there. Except she had a pair of binoculars and was using them to intently study the ceiling above my department.

SO CONFUSED.


Anyway, I'm thinking it's time to wipe all the commentary off my map and start over! (Yeah, this? I did, in fact, get maps! They are laminated, so I mark all over them - well, mostly the USA map, since that's the one right by my desk, but the world map behind my bed isn't quite immune, either - in dry-erase markers. While pretending to be fictional characters.

It's fun!)

Really, the coasts are still mostly blank, but... It'd be more fun to have it cleaned again, even though the commentary at the top does still amuse me.

(Boredom meets head characters is also the reason the fire extinguisher has a note on it reading "For use in event of Decepticon attack"... Check here or, better, this clip from 3:00-3:25, if you're confused as to why I've done this.)

Also, I'd say I'm marathoning Avatar (the one with Aang, not the one with the blue aliens), but that implies some semblance of order. I'm watching a ridiculous amount of Avatar episodes with absolutely no regard for continuity!
