APOCALYPSE HOURS ARE REVEALED! I mean, we already knew when the servers were going offline, but now we know when to gather (... we already knew where) for The Last Stand. 1am on the 11th, I will see you soon. Soonish. Eh. (Part of my strange dream sequence last night included a bit where there was a new final boss and it was a Tarutaru - no, not a Lalafell - in a biplane - I don't know - and you had to beat him, but fortunately for everyone it was really easy.)
SO HEY I said last entry that monsters have been attacking towns. It got worse! yay! SE didn't like how easily we were dispatching everything, so they super-powered the monsters. And then people would literally spend a whole day smacking them and they would lose maybe 1% of their total hit points? Eventually the strategy turned into "send Warriors out with no armor on and have them use their job ability that reflects damage onto the attacker" and that was sort of better. And then a few people were like, you know, we had to go /pray at the symbols of the 12 deities, and now it's the end of days, maybe we need to try /praying? So they /prayed, and then they /prayed at the monsters, and OH MY GOSH sometimes it killed them! Whoa! So we determined we needed mass amounts of people wearing their deity ring to /pray at monsters. Only it didn't always work so clearly we were missing something.
Well.
Turns out what we were missing was that the GM (who are the ones spawning monsters) have been watching this madness and were so amused by our /pray efforts that they would sometimes then smack the monster dead. Only, you know, if they weren't watching closely, or standing elsewhere, or just didn't feel like it, of course it wasn't going to work. FGS.
But they thought this was really clever! So they passed along our efforts, and also some of the crazy things we've all been shouting about in town, and they put out another minor update... And now! NOW if you /pray at a monster, it's an affront to the Twelve because WHY ARE YOU PRAYING FOR OUR ATTACKERS and they strike you dead. Whoops, haha! But if you just /pray or if you /pray for a fellow player, they grant you (or your target) strength! Pretty awesome.
Also they lowered the monsters a bit, so now they can be killed but are not total pushovers, yay.
ALSO hahaha if you sleep in an inn room and then /check the bed, they're handing out free relic weapons (relic weapons are the best ones in the game and are a major pain to get, often requiring extreme amounts of time, energy, and gil). So now I have the relic weapons for both my jobs, woohoo! It's awesome. RELICS FAIRY IS BEST FAIRY.
(They can do that because, of course, the last server backup was on the 31st of October, so none of this is going to stick.)
(And of course now people are whining that we should be allowed to keep them as a reward for sticking around for the last week+. lolno. Nice try, guys.)
(Actually, I do admit I really like the idea someone tossed out of them becoming a broken weapon item that could only be used as a furnishing for our home. Broken Gae Bolg mounted on my wall? Yes, please.) (The shield and sword would be less awesome.)
UNRELATEDLY I AM CONTINUING TO BE REALLY ANNOYED AT LJ and am considering starting to disable comments on entries I crosspost over to there. I - I do not think anyone would actually notice, I mean, but there's that. It is a thing, I am thinking about it.

Son of a crap I thought once they did the final save (which was 7 hours ago) I could put this game down and walk away, just logging in once more for Impact, but no. Not to be.
I did log in after maintenance ended just to see if anything had changed - nothing. So, yay! Freedom! Except, later, I'm minding my own business and my brother texts me to tell me to check AIM (I'd wandered from my computer) where he had been yelling at me to log in because the Garlean airships are flying lower than ever, the weather's changed, all field music has changed, and oh by the way frantic monsters are attacking towns on other servers and ours could be next.
I log in to find that, outside of towns, a slow, echoing version of "Answers" is playing everywhere, Imperial troops can be found all over the place (they used to only appear in limited areas), the sky has a perpetual reddish cloud cover with massive lightning bolts (and accompanying crashes of thunder) streaking across it, monster behaviours have changed, and the aetheryte points are all spawning Atomos and, one by one, turning red.
...dear lord, the world is ending.

So, depression, health, work, monetary, computer, and personal issues aside. I didn't really mean to exile myself, but that kind of seems to be what happened. Whoops. Should I assume I didn't miss much? Skimming, looks like its been slow.
But, hey. Moonfall! Moonfall in six days! FFXIV has eaten my waking life! I lack a proper apocalypse icon. A link to Rana's cover image will have to suffice. I am kind of excited, because I really hope there is a OH NO THE WORLD IS ENDING cutscene, but also kinda sad because, man, finally the game is fun and playable and I have people to do stuff with and WHOOPS THERE'S A MOON ON YOUR HEAD. I guess this is how it must be, though. Bummer.
And it is not so bad. I have done almost everything I wanted to get gone, and everything I needed to. Storyline's all finished up, I fought the big bad and won... There are a couple other things I'd like to do, but they'll be around in the new world, so. It is not an emergency priority. (I would really like to beat the boss on Hard Mode, but with less than a week to go, it does not strike me as entirely likely. Perhaps I will get to try, anyway!)
Cat still hates the new roommate, but lately she's gotten into the strange, strange habit of pawing at his door and mewing and meowing and making all sorts of racket. So then he lets her in and she hides under his bed and hisses at him if he looks at her. Does this make sense? No. It is supposed to? Unsure. (She hides in my other roommate's bed sometimes when he leaves his door open, and then she also hisses at him if he disturbs her. She is very odd.) Also she likes fruit. A lot. ALSO I have decided she is a man-hating lesbian, because she only likes girls, except for the roommate whose bed she hides in, and he is gay, so. Of course, she ruined this theory by befriending my brother in about a minute, but a friend of mine and I decided that this was just because my brother is also a lesbian. Mystery solved.
... she is so cute, though, you guys, oh my goodness. I was really sick yesterday and she spent the whole day curled up in bed with me. I have a few videos on facebook I need to change the privacy settings on so I can show everyone. Not - not of me being sick. Of Sazy being cute.
Also new roommate is watching Twin Peaks and I am unsure if I want to get in on that, since didn't it get cancelled and so was never finished? Hrm. Hrm. I need better false names for my roommates.
By the way, do you like Moogles? Would you like a song sung by Moogles (translated into English for your convenience, and also because you're touched by the Echo and can understand Mooglespeak)? Here is Good King Moggle Mog XII! What a jolly crew he and his friends make! What fun times we have together! I listen to his song whenever I am not listening to my current music. That is only a slight exaggeration. This song is really awesome, okay. Don't judge me.
