When the servers came back online, we all discovered that SE had accidentally reset Besieged victories. Now, for most servers, this was no big deal. But Siren, those weirdos, they hadn't lost a single Besieged since the introduction of the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion pack. Fortunately, SE acknowledged this was a problem and managed to get things back in order! …But, well…

I said hadn't.

On Thursday, they finally lost, after nearly five straight years and 3,166 consecutive victories. Alas, it is a sad day. I am strangely disappointed.

(DUDE. We had to suffer emergency maintenance just for you and now you go and fuck it up? SHAAAAME.)

30 Days of Video Games

Day 08 - Best soundtrack )

Shit, I don't think I've checked my Moogle mail in Dissidia 012 yet today. IT IS ALMOST MIDNIGHT RUN RUN. (haha, what a random thing to suddenly remember.)

Edit:
AWESOME AND TERRIFYING. ... if you're a Doctor Who fan, anyway.

Also, uninteresting note: in the live version of this song that I have heard, the "witness" verse lists things in a slightly different order than the game version. OR MAYBE SHE MESSED UP, haha, who knows. It is strange to my ears, though.

["(we) follow (we) wander (we) suffer (we) listen" vs. "(we) follow (we) struggle (we) wander (we) listen" ... and suffer is already used once, before, so, yeah, I don't know.]

(Another uninteresting note relating to the same song is that, whenever I "play" it in my head, in some places the tempo is way slower and the rests are longer. I know it is wrong, but I guess I must prefer it that way, or something. Again, I DON'T KNOW.)

Two parts to this. One's some pictures, one's some musicmeme.

Part one: Cat )

And part two is one of those memes where you're assigned a letter and then you have to post 5 songs, but as history has established, I'm bad with numbers.

Part two: Noise )

Let me know if any of those manymany links are broken, please.

OH HEY THIS IS COOL, someone took a bunch of Transformers: Animated toys and redid them as the whole Beast Wars cast (well, okay, Blackarachnia and Waspinator didn't really take much effort). Check it out!

(MEANWHILE, IN REALITY... my brain is refusing to shut down at night. I have been up until 6 am and up by 10:30 the last two nights, and while I'm beginning to drag physically, my brain is still plugging away at... something. It's all subconscious brain-noise, so I don't even know what it's getting up to that's keeping me wide awake until all hours of the morning...)
WE START WITH A SILLY STORY. Because it's Valentine's Day and I can pretend it's sort of related. I remember this every time Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Meee-eeee-heee" comes on the radio... The first time I heard that song, it was, I don't know, 4 am or something. I'd been woken up by something, so I was really groggy and not processing everything quite right, and that song was playing (I need some sort of noise going on, so I just leave the radio on really low - the volume didn't help). I heard a song comparing/contrasting herself to her girlfriend rather than a song comparing/contrasting herself to someone else's girlfriend. I was really surprised that it was on the radio.

OH NO A STORY ABOUT WORK NOW: CHEESECAKE FIASCO (AKA Cheesegate, AKA Cheesecake 2010). (I only came up with the first of those. My coworkers are responsible for the other two.)

Cut! )

I went with some people (some of them were friends, some of them were people I don't really know, though I did go to school with a few of them) to see The Wolfman on Friday after work! IT WAS ABOUT AS HILARIOUSLY BAD AS IT LOOKS. Oh, man, I laughed so hard.

I had yesterday off, so I really had wanted to sleep in a bit, but then yesterday was also the annual pancake breakfast (all you can eat pancakes, sausage, and bacon for five dollars and a non-perishable food item) fundraiser, so I didn't get to sleep in, after all. It was delicious, though. Then Mom and I ran around running errands and doing some other stuff before she dropped me back off in town! And the internet issues had been resolved while I'd been out. (Thursday evening - or maybe it started before that, but I was at work, so who knows? - the internet started flaking out. Friday, there was no internet. Late Friday night, my main computer - and only my main computer - had limited internet. Saturday afternoon, everything randomly fixed itself, but we still had it all reset by the provider, just in case.)

So, yes. Too much work, stupid customers (well, what else is new?), and then no internet = really, really long last week and a half. But is it over now!

Finally, here is that 5 Songs Starting With A Designated Letter meme! You know the drill. (MAN, lots of memes lately.)

My letter was R! There are more than five songs 'cause I'm bad with numbers. )

Whew! We're done now.

I mentioned in the second post about Mexico that during our first night in Querétaro, we had some people perform for us, and that we then were given a copy of their CD. HERE IS THAT CD, if you were interested.

Las Enaguas - Los Besos que te di

(It's a homemade CD, so odds of you finding this anywhere other than where the two of them are performing seem pretty small.)

Strange and unrelated comment: my laptop seems to disrupt my radio. I start getting static when it's on.

.... my laptop is a monster from Silent Hill?
Music is a funny thing. There are a couple songs that always make me tear up.

The second song from this clip is one of them. It's the final song (with vocals, ohmigosh) from the Chains of Promathia expansion set for FFXI. (I haven't even finished those missions, so who knows? Maybe it'll stop getting to me after I beat them. I kind of doubt it though.) (The first is part of the opening video.)

(I selected that video because it's completely spoiler-free, since it's, you know. A concert, and the clips they show on the screen are from the opening video or completely out of context and without words at the bottom.)

It can be a bit hard to understand, but it's supposed to sound like that, as it's sung in Esperanto, not English. (Or so Wikipedia claims...)

Lyrics+ )

It's a pretty song, and I don't think you'd need to be familiar with FFXI to enjoy it, though I'm not sure. Maybe it'd lose something, or maybe I'm just a nostalgia freak.

... Okay, I know I'm a nostalgia freak. QUIET.

(In other news, I also appear to have The Kingdom of San d'Oria uploaded, with no recollection of where that entry would be. SO HERE IT IS AGAIN? Edit: I found it! But I'm leaving the link, here, too, anyway.)
1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

Or don't. Not like I can make you.

[livejournal.com profile] shini02 gave me the letter S!

What songs did Jecca pick? )

...Yay!
[22:03] JeccaAM: demon brain-infector.
[22:03] (Aniko's AIM name removed!): yay \o_o/

Anyway, I have decided to point this out, because I'm not sure I have before, and it's not something that's apparent, but is something I like doing. Whenever I post a finished piece, I fill in all the fields. Why? It's not actually a post. Why should my mood, music, or location matter?

Actually, the fields are more connected to the story. The location and mood are probably pretty self-explanatory, but maybe not the song. That's generally more what the title of the song evokes. (For example, the lyrics of Everywhere I Go don't necessarily fit with "Prodding," but the title kind of does. Vertigo's lyrics aren't necessarily relevant, being about some club or something, if I remember correctly, but vertigo fits pretty well with Okame's freak out.)

I realise it's entirely possible no one cares about that, but it occurred to me earlier today while trying to brainstorm names for the newest Project that I'd never pointed it out and I felt like sharing.

More on this. )

...eeugh, a spider just ran across the floor.

Swiped shamelessly from [livejournal.com profile] wyntir_rose, and I need to be finishing this work up but I need a break, my brain is leaking out my ears and it's gross.

Name meme!

1. My username is________ because ________.

My username is "twilit wanderer" because when I went to register this journal, the name I wanted was taken! It's since been deleted or something, so I keep considering a rename token, but I've never gone and done it. (Obviously.) My FFXI roleplay journal is [livejournal.com profile] brinkoftwilight (it's older than this one, ha), which was influenced by .hack//SIGN (and I love this series and its soundtrack), with its "in the land of twilight" stuff everywhere. I'm not actually trapped in the game, but I definitely have a second life there. [livejournal.com profile] twilit_wanderer was spawned off of that, though I'm not entirely sure of the pathways my brain crossed to get here, specifically. I wander. I like twilight. I like walking?

2. My name is ________ because _______.

My name is Jecca Meitahn because if I take my real name and put it through Mithran naming conventions, I imagine it comes out something like that. Technically, the 'c's should probably be 'k's, but I like "Jecca" better than "Jekka" and I'm not actually a Mithra. I just play one on the internet sometimes. (Though plugging Jekka into the Wikipedia search bar pops up three results, one of which is Transformers related. That amuses me.)

3. My journal is titled ______ because __________.

My journal is titled "Center of the Sun" because I happen to really like that song ("Center of the Sun" by Conjure One) and am wildly uncreative at times. When I close my eyes, I am at the center of the sun, and I cannot be hurt by anything this wicked world has done is the full line. (And, by the way, everyone should hear this song, because it is pretty.)

Possibly I was not in a happy place when I created this. Running away and hiding generally does not solve things, but I have not quite learned that lesson fully. (Actually, it kind of did this time. Hm.)

4. My friends page is called ______ because ___________.

My friends page is called "in the market" because I am, on occasion, wildly uncreative and it's another line from the same song as above. Also, you... you can meet people in the market. And say hello. And ... talk. ... Justification: failed.

(Bonus fact! The comments text is also based off a Conjure One song.)

5. My default userpic is _______ because _________.

My default userpic is Hisime mauling crabs near the pond in La Theine because... I don't know! I like it. It's pretty. And it's Hisime, who's my main character in FFXI. I keep thinking I should get a new default, though it'd probably still be of Hisime.

The crab has a number over its head for a little while, as I have damage set to appear on the screen instead of in the chat log, but I've since edited it out.

I generally don't go looking for remixes of game music people have done, but sometimes these things just kind of jump out at you.

Over at the Allakhazam FFXI forums, someone has posted that they've created their own remix of the Ronfaure theme! It's got sort of a rock theme to it. (And then someone else linked to this guy's site, where there are more awesome FFXI track remixes, as well as some other neat stuff!)

There's a different remix of Ronfaure by someone else (no idea who) featuring vocals! It's very pretty!

But, as awesome and pretty as these two are, I still think I prefer the original. I absolutely adore the Ronfaure theme, but this may be because I originate from San d'Oria (all three times) and have spent an inordinate amount of time in Ronfaure.

... What's that?

You've never heard the original Ronfaure theme and so can't compare?

Maybe we should fix that. (Ronfaure's one of the few tracks from FFXI composed by Nobuo Uematsu, so of course it is awesome.)

*(Ronfaure is the area immediately outside the town of San d'Oria. It is one of the "newbie zones," where you start leveling. It is pretty and full of trees. This appears to be the only screenshot of the zone I have on my computer at the moment. And it's one of the ones I captured using the built-in camera, so it's compressed really small from full screen. .... But, so, that's late evening in Ronfaure. The character's not one of mine.)

(Found more. Ronfaure twenty years ago [my character, Ayarei] when the war was still on [not mine], Ronfaure during the New Year's event - so random NPC creatures, and Hisime fighting a goblin in a tree near the lake.)
