Possibly not my internet?
My internet is not always the greatest. I know this. But I am beginning to wonder if my internet is the problem, because we've reset the router several times and I still can't get a couple sites to load. (Unfortunately for all of you, LiveJournal is obviously not one of these sites.)
The one that annoys me more is the Transformers-based forum I joined a while back. I feel kind of like a moron for joining and then disappearing, and, okay, odds of my posting much are slim, anyway, but I can't even check.
Allakhazam (my Final Fantasy XI resource and forums-center) won't come up, either, which is also upsetting. There's a new expansion - Wings of the Goddess - coming outnext mo- it is November and November is the eleventh month, so THAT IS THIS MONTH in about seventeen days, apparently. I can hit the PlayOnline site for info, but it loads a lot slower...
Actually, I suppose now it loads faster, since it actually loads. Whatever. It still takes a while.
Anyway, I can't read the forums to see what people are talking about, or read the speculations et al, if I can't get to the forums. Sad-making.
Two new jobs now - Dancer's still in, clearly they weren't going to get rid of that. Who would want to miss out on Flamenco-ing Beastmen to death? The other new one is... Scholar.

What, do you beat things with textbooks?
No, horrendous grammar, spelling, and jokes aside, apparently they're tactical mages.
NO, I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT'S GOING TO WORK. The website says they can cast "both types" of magic (I assume this to mean White and Black, and never mind Blue), which I guess makes them... a second Red Mage. With a less-nifty outfit (look, I'm sorry, the Red Mage (hereafter referred to in its abbreviated form, RDM) AF is pretty awesome. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN FACT, even to non-RDM such as myself) and a book.
It could be very cool, to be fair, and I'm more worried about Dancer, considering X-2's take on it and all. Still, I'm reserving judgment until I see them in action.
I'm not sure how this is going to work, though.
In general, I mean.
Apparently, this set is set during the Crystal Wat, which ended twenty years prior to Final Fantasy XI as we know it today. We can clearly see what happened during the war, and we're dealing with the aftereffects of it (as well as the return of the Dark Lord, who wasn't quite as dead we would've liked to believe, apparently). But that's the thing - it's over. There are the aftereffects.
Of course, considering we visit different angles of reality and dead-zones and WHATEVER Promyvion actually is - well, Emptiness, obviously, but beyond that - and can teleport through vortexes and the like, temporal shifting probably isn't too far out of the realm of the believable. Still. It's weird, and mind-bendy in that way that only time travel can be. Were Adventurers from the present day responsible for events in the Crystal War?
... Also, the Crystal War / returning terrifies me for reasons I'm not entirely sure of. Because I know everything that happens during it? Maybe that is part of it. Crazy and bad things. Sure, the allied Nations won out over the Dark Lord and the Beastmen - thanks to Jeuno, though I hesitate to thank Jeuno and its Archduke too much, considering - but what a mess we made of everything! Sauromugue Champaign is dead because of what happened there. What about the Eldieme Necropolis? Davoi wasn't always an Orc stronghold. TAVNAZIA, for Altana's sake!
And, clicking through the official website for Wings of the Goddess (which is linked above) has a list of new enemies we can expect to encounter - they always have the upcoming bestiary and map areas pictured - well, of course, if they're new and the war is over, that means these things are extinct now, which is a bit upsetting. We killed them all off.
(I admit, though, I got a chuckle out of the error they have. One of the new things is called a gnole. If had that image and a little blurb to the side. Another new mob? Gnats (we're also getting ladybugs - truly terrifying, I am sure). The, uh, blurb on the gnats doesn't really match up, unless gnats are actually very cleverly disguised gnoles. WHICH IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE, I AM SURE.)
Plus, you know, wars are never really a good thing.
In the trailer, there is an upsetting scene of Windurst. It's been attacked and there are Tarutaru and Mithra and Yagudo all dead on the walkways, and one little Mithra kneeling over one of the older Mithra bodies.
Still! I am looking forward to it.
Game babble aside, I kind of wish my internet would start working properly. I do not want it to be that the sites themselves are down! (I know Allakhazam is working because my brother reads it, too, so that's probably good news for The Padded Cell. Still...)
I wonder what other sites won't work. I only have seven sites I visit regularly, and those make up two of them. Hrm.
Edit: Transformers related.
There's a new video for the series coming out next year on YouTube (it can be found here). This video isn't exactly new (went up a day or two ago, but word travels fast on the internet and all), and it is not what I am about to mention.
The comments. I cannot stop laughing. Some people...! Though, I have to admit, on one level, it still surprises me that some people cannot grasp that the continuity reboots on occasion and that this Prime isn't G1 Prime (or even Movie Prime). I can't fault them too much, though, because they leave hilarious comments. (Though they also make my head hurt quite a lot. Laughing helps avoid pain, though.)
Edit II:
Aniko says The Padded Cell loads for her, so it is only my connection. Which is a good thing, but still extremely annoying.
