Weird things about Jecca
This is just some weird stuff that came up in a conversation recently that I've been thinking about.
My parents had some friends (a married couple) over a few days ago, and my father told me I came up in conversation (gosh, isn't that a surprise). Actually, it wasn't what I expected.
The guy is sensitive to spirits, and we've had several people tell us we've got a ghost in our basement (his name is Robert). It really does explain the feeling that you're being watched when you're down there. He's never done anything other than hover around and... watch (so far). But my parents and these two went down to the basement to ... I dunno. Visit him.
My parents were telling me about that, and my dad said he brought up that I was visited by a ghost when I was only about ten days old. Mom says she woke up to check on me (she was waking up regularly to do so, since I hadn't slept the last few nights, anyway) and when she entered the then-nursery, she just... felt someone else there. She's convinced it was my grandfather (her father - he died years before I was born). And talking about weird happenings makes me think of other somewhat related weird happenings.
My grandmother (my mom's mother - Nana) says she had encounters with him a few times, too, some while asleep and some while awake.
When I was about ten, someone/thing visited me. I had a little mobile with birds hanging over my bed, and one night the air got heavy and the mobile started to spin crazily. Freaked me out a bit, and the next day, or a day or two later, I had a friend over and was telling her about the weirdness of the bird-mobile, so she decided we should try something: we closed the bedroom door and sat still for a good few minutes, until everything had settled down, and then she asked, if Jecca's grandfather is here, could he please spin the bird-mobile? And the thing suddenly started spinning like I've never seen.
So we freaked out and ran downstairs to tell my mom. Found out later one of my grandfather's relatives (sister, maybe? Can't remember) had been ill and (had either nearly died or actually died, I can't remember...). (Mostly I remember that I was too freaked to sleep in my bedroom for the next week or so.)
I also can't remember if this was before or after Nana says she dreamed of him telling her goodbye, and that he was moving on now. Who knows?
Weird dreams, I don't know if they actually run in the family - my Nana, obviously (and I'm pretty sure there's at least one other person, again on my mother's side. I'd ask, but mom's watching a show and doesn't want to be interrupted), but I used to fairly frequently have dreams that would end up coming true in some ways, usually three days later (but sometimes longer, though still usually some multiple of three). Usually they were dreams about finding things (things I'd lost, or things I wanted to get) (of course, I'm just really good at finding things, anyway. Always have been. It is my special talent, I guess. It even works in video games, which is pretty cool). I still have them, but not as often.
(There's one theme that's been popping up for a while and, well... It's turning all shades of interesting and I'm not entirely sure what to do with or about it.)
While we're on the subject of weird things that happen to or near me, whenever I go near the dowstairs radio, it starts picking up static. Only me. It doesn't do that to anyone else. It doesn't matter what station it's on, or how well we usually receive it. Static. It's annoying.
...And really unnerving.
.....aaand, of course, some of the fandoms I'm in make these things a whole lot weirder and more unsettling than they'd probably be otherwise. Stupid things I like.
COMPLETE CHANGE OF SUBJECT, I've never watched an episode of Prison Break, but I'm pretty sure Stephen Colbert just referenced it... also, the way he can apparently rip his glasses off his face, I wonder what the frames are made of. They've got to be pretty flexible.

I'd love to hear more about your dad's experiences, if you feel like typing them up sometime.

Seems he's only really got one (I misremembered? I just went and asked, to make sure). He/his family (well, I suppose they're my family, too) were living in an old house, and they all occasionally heard noises from the kitchen at night, after everyone was asleep. His room was right over the kitchen, so he heard it more than the others, and a couple times he'd be so sure he'd heard someone down there that he'd leap out of bed and run down as fast as possible, but there'd never be anyone there. (Those things he says could have been the tricks of a house settling - because, yeah, I live in an old house and old houses do occasionally sound like there are people in places there aren't - or just the dog wandering about.) One night, though, the footsteps in the kitchen started coming up the stairs to his room. It was ridiculous o'clock, so he knew it wasn't anyone from his family, and it was a person, not a dog... The steps came and, when they were, you know, in the room, he moved around a bit to let who/whatever know there was someone in there, and the footsteps just.... stopped. When he looked, there was no one there.
And he came up as I was typing that to add that the night I was visited (when I was little), he didn't hear or see or dream or whatever anything, but he remembers being aware of the sense that something strange was going on, and also that my Nana (who was here at the time) apparently had a conversation with him around then.

It reminded me of the one weird thing that ever happened to me. I was spending the night at my friend's house, where she's had some weird stuff happen, and i could hear someone moving around upstairs. It sounded enough like someone walking around that I just figured it was her boyfriend, and I was like, "I thought he was out for the night." Turned out he was, and there was nobody up there.
