My flatmate is apparently on the list of every telemarketing campaign in the nation. I guess it makes sense, since her name is the one the phone is under, but it's still, you know, annoying. We got two today! Both of them horribly mangled her last name (it is a bit of a mouthful to look at, but fairly simple to pronounce. I think people are simply intimidated by the number of letters in it). One of them woke me up and I have no idea what they were trying to sell me. Newspaper? I don't know. I was trying to catch up on my sleep why have you made me get up.

The next caller insisted she was male, which makes no sense to me. Let me assure you, Aniko's name is not one you see on males. It isn't one of those maybe male, maybe female names. It is strictly female use. These guys also wanted to know if I was his wife. ... (I'm sorry.) (I need some time to put together my answer.)

They made my brain hurt, and then they threatened to call back when Mr. Mumblejumble was awake, but they haven't yet, and anyway, Aniko's at work now and Mr. Mumblejumble still hasn't actually shown up, so I wouldn't be able to direct them to... whoever it is they actually want to speak to, damned if I know who that actually is.

... Is Mr. Mumblejumble supposed to be living here? HE'D BETTER BE PAYING PART OF THE RENT IF HE THINKS HE IS. I'll not tolerate free loaders!

YEAH OKAY LJ, SURE, POST EARLY AND BEFORE I ACTUALLY HIT THE POST BUTTON. THAT'S FINE, TOO. My damn keyboard is possessed or something, I don't know. STOP DOING THINGS LIKE THAT.

Edit:
They may have just tried to call back. I thwarted their attempts to confuse me by not answering. So rationality has been redirected to an unknown location? I should probably look into that.
Folks who pay more attention to these things than I do have decided today is the 25th anniversary of Transformers. Funky. To celebrate, I will now write a long, pointless, and probably not very interesting entry about it!

But what are your thoughts on robots? )

SLIGHTLY MORE INTERESTING PART OF ENTRY NOW. In an ideal world, I’d take this opportunity to link some old G1 (ie, the original cartoon from 1984 and on) episodes, or maybe some Animated (the most recent incarnation, which is amazing and full of love). Sadly, I cannot find the opening episodes from Animated or the … uh, “best” episodes of G1. (Part of this is, I admit, laziness due to my being a bit tired.) HERE IS WHAT I CAN OFFER!

Links! )

……Actually, you know what I think the best thing about Transformers is?

No matter what lunacy the fandom makes up, canon can pretty much always - ALWAYS - top it. <3 <3 Crossovers? CANON. Interspecies relatonships? CANON. Transformers becoming humans, gay robots (well, technically. Debatable, depending), more alternate realities than you can shake a stick at (including a mirror-verse), time travel (and more animation errors than you'd think possible)? ALL CANON. Horrors too great for any words to ever explain? CANON (Do not look too closely at his tongue. Or perhaps, do, and understand the … I don’t even know. I don’t think Kiss Play can really be understood.) (WHY, JAPAN. WHYYYYY.) …G1 has an entire episode dedicated to a character being committed to an asylum (he’s a Decepticon, and it ends about as well as you’d expect, really). Both hopelessly endearing and unbelievably CREEPY AND HORRIFYING characters! Also: A MILLION CONTINUITY ERRORS. But that just means even more room for everyone to play.

BASICALLY: I ♥ my fandom.
Went to bed late last night - 1:30, when I'm used to being in bed around midnight. Had a bit of trouble getting the radio to work right (I always have music on, but I'd been playing stuff off my laptop, and just turning mute off didn't cut it), but, hey, I figured it out.

So I've got the lights off, the house is quiet, and I'm slowly drifting off... 'I Shot the Sheriff' starts playing and if my eyes weren't closed, I'd have rolled them, since the first thing I thought of was that little exchange in Supernatural's 3x12, 'Jus in Belo' (predictable to the point that I'd said, "Damnit, Dean!" before he'd actually finished the line Henricksen had started, but still amusing)...

And then about halfway through the song, the radio pops once and the song changes to Cream's 'Sunshine of Your Love' and the volume doubles.

And, okay, that doesn't exactly sound scary, but it really freaked me out.

BUT IT'S OKAY. MY ATOMIC SQUIRREL WILL PROTECT ME~ ... from the radio. SHUT UP.

(While we're not on the subject, 'Long Distance Call' felt very Silent Hill to me, at least for the first half. Certainly not the first time Supernatural has had me drawing parallels, and probably not the last, but always weird and vaguely unsettling.)

(And, since I know I'll have limited time on Wednesday, I think I may just watch the remaining two episodes tomorrow.)
