*tick*

I CANNOT STOP hearing my watch tick.

It is on the other side of the room because I threw it there.

AUGH!

But as soon as I glance at it, it stops. Clearly my watch is trying to drive me insane. It is WORKING.

I don't think I like the new bakery manager's ideas. She keeps scheduling me for six hours (until closing, where I am the only person in the bakery). Six hour shifts require a half-hour "meal" break. I'm the only person there and so cannot leave for half an hour, but even ignoring that, I hate taking a half hour break for only six hours - I don't need one. Nor do I need the six hours to close. I told her this, said I'd prefer a five and a half hour shift (there is someone there for the first hour of my shift, so it's not as though she'd be making anyone stay longer).

She said, no. When she schedules people for six hours, she expects them to just come in or leave five minutes late/early, hence dropping their shift to five hours and fifty-five minutes, and so not requiring a lunch break.

Wow. Way to be a jerk. That's fairly dishonest, really - cheating company policy. And to ask me to compromise my own reliability? I asked one of the higher-ups if that was allowed, and she said, yes, technically, it was. It annoys me, though! If I'm signed on for six hours, I'm supposed to be there for six hours. I don't want to have to come in late just so I can avoid a lunch break just because New Manager doesn't want to just give me a five and a half hour shift! But it's either that or try to take my half hour break in the first hour of my shift or try to find someone to watch the bakery while I take it, when I don't even need it.

This isn't the only thing she's not listening to me (or anyone) about. I hope she realizes soon that this is not the Milton store and she cannot expect things to run like they do there.
