It's your fault we sold more tickets than we have seats for!
So, aside from giving me a few reminders as to why I don't like the college up the hill and am glad I don't attend there, Jon Stewart event? HILARIOUS. He went at the governor quite a lot in the beginning, which was both fun and funny. He also kept talking to the signers, which was funnier than it should have been, since they'd be translating the question he was asking rather than answering and... I dunno. IT WAS FUNNY.
Then I went back home and logged onto FFXI with the intent of doing something, I think... Actually, I think we did do something (I... Ani and Nabi and I were all in a party. BUT WHY?), but I can't remember what.
Oh! Wait, yes, okay, we did a fight for Nabi, but we didn't get the drop she wanted. Okay. Okay, got it.
After we did that, I stayed logged in, even though I wasn't doing anything. See, my brother's been camping this NM, 'cause he really wants the drop. Once it dies, there's an eighteen hour period before it'll respawn. The repop window - that is, the time frame where it'll actually spawn - is twelve hours long. And then there's another monster that can pop instead of it, so you may wait eleven and a half hours only for the wrong mob to spawn. Lovely!
This was his... third, I believe, attempt. First time, the right mob popped and he got claim, I ran out there and slapped it a few times to put Treasure Hunter on it, but no drop. He had TOD, so he knew when to go start camping again. Second time, the wrong mob popped. But, again, time of death. SO, BACK AGAIN. But it's midnight and we're both kinda tired. Also, the thing may have spawned and been killed earlier. He wasn't sure, he hadn't been watching. Still, he says, I've been here nine hours, may as well stick out the remaining three... And it does finally spawn around 2:30 (and I'm afk, so he had to get Aniko to chase me back to the keyboard), I run out, we poke it to death and the thing drops! Yaaay! It's only got ~17% drop rate, so I think we both used up the entirety of our good luck right there, but, you know, yay!
So now all he needs is, you know, the three-million gil dagger and all of his new armor and the new gun and ... okay, yeah, that's all still a lot. Nabiki's still got a lot of work to do before she's ready to level COR again. But! One step closer, now!
...Does it weird anyone out that I call my brother "she" when I use his character's name? I keep thinking it should bother me, but it doesn't.
I decided to catch up on Transformers comics, and I'm pretty glad I did! I had coupons for 40% off, so I got two TPBs for close to the price of one, and I'm actually enjoying them a fair amount. I know I shouldn't be surprised or convinced by the hate people've been throwing at them lately, but sometimes I forget how cracked out fandom can be. I was going to say people who's opinions usually line up with mine were hating them, but after I'd typed it, I thought about it and, no, while I generally have some amount of respect for these people, they usually don't agree with me.
Of course, the series does have a fair amount of problems (for example, the list of continuity discrepancies on the wiki is kind of horrifying and hilarious all at once), but the sheer, violent hatred I'd been seeing seems a bit out of place. Anyway, though, the art is really pretty.
Earlier today I went with my mother to a Japanese festival thing, which sounded really cool, but ended up being kind of lame. Oh, well. Got red bean paste out of it, so obviously this was not a complete loss.
...Most of yesterday, I was really grumpy (I'm chalking it up to not getting enough sleep and then being woken up multiple times that morning). Today, I still have not had enough sleep, but I was set on "ridiculously happy" until around three hours ago, when my sleepiness caught up with me. Now I'm just tired. I don't need to be up all night waiting for a monster to maybe spawn, though, so hopefully I'll get a decent amount of dead-time.
