ugh!
I AM COMPOSED ENTIRELY OF MOLDY-BAGEL RAGE.
At work, I was asked to fill in the bagel display before leaving. Sure, no problem. We don't need that many and it doesn't take that long.
So I pull out the bagels we need and haul them out to the display and open the poppyseed bagel case. I toss two bagels in, pause, and - completely on a whim, but last week a customer told me they thought they'd found a moldly bagel in the display - pulled the two bagels that had been in there out and looked at them.
They were green and fuzzy on the bottom. Lovely. I'm very glad no one was in the department to see my expression right then. I threw those two bagels out, as well as the two I'd tossed in before looking (because an examination of the loose poppyseeds in the bottom of the case revealed - surprise! - more mold).
Then I checked the other cases on that side of the display. All contaminated. Fantastic.
I found a manager and told her what was up, then emptied the entire display. I threw out over one hundred bagels this evening. (A customer did come through while I was doing that. He looked appalled at my bagel-to-trash flingings, but I told him the problem and he nodded in understanding.)
I may never eat an onion bagel ever. The entire bottom of the case was green.
And it reeked of bagel-mold (obviously).
After I'd finished that, I wrote a note to the people coming in tomorrow morning telling them what had happened, that the managers knew, and that they need to wash the case on occasion.
... Then I went home and tried to eat, only to discover that the mold spores had trickled into me and everything smelled and tasted vaguely of bagel-mold.
That was six hours ago. I can still smell it. (Let me assure you, if you've never smelled that lovely blue-green carbohydrates mold? You're not missing anything.)
Edit because I can:
I practiced the art of Almost Drowning Myself and managed to rinse out my mouth and nose, so the smell and taste are both gone. But today (the day after I wrote this entry) my throat is very sore and my nose is very runny.
/edit
But, in happier news... I HAS A BROTHER. HOORAY!
And, and, this is the best part. I have made him a fan of Top Gear and we spent over an hour this evening gleeing over things the trio have done. And Oliver. Because no one is immune to Oliver. (I know he actually likes it and is not just letting me talk because it was a conversation and not a Jecca-ramble, and because then he was talking about it to our parents, who both just looked confused.)
