Daylight Saving Time makes me cry.
Oh, man, I hate having to change the clocks. Early this year?! Arg. Forget this. Give me my hour back. I swear, that saying? "Spring forward, fall back," right? There's a secret ending to it. ASLEEP.
SPRING FORWARD, FALL BACK ASLEEP. OH YES.
International Day is next Saturday. This would have no major impact on me, seeing as how I'm no longer in a Girl Scout troop and I'm not running one, either. However, Mom does a lot of work helping with events, and so I keep finding myself getting dragged along. Not complaining, I rather enjoy it all.
However, International Day. We had a special guest (kind of) arranged, they had plans and... then today they changed their minds and have pulled out. Mom's not sure she's going to be able to get anyone to come in, so I've... been nominated. So now I'm probably doing not only the flag ceremony (Primus have mercy, I am so sick of doing flag ceremonies. That's probably the one thing I actively dislike about Scouting, though really it's only because my troop was very good at them - quite a feat, considering we had all of three members - and as a result we had to do them everywhere), but also am the potential guest.
Basically, I need to pick a country, research it a bit, come up with a food, and then an... event or activity of some sorts. A song, a dance, even a story.
This would be so much easier if the countries I know lots of stuff about off the top of my head (those beingItaly - Mom was wrong, it's Ireland, Japan, and Canada - and, no, we can't do the USA, heh. Though who'd want to?) weren't the countries the troops attending were all doing. blerg. They're doing China, too, but I don't know so much about China. Never really studied that one because "World History" was such a joke. Help'd be nice, too, but I don't have anyone to ask.
This would also be easier if I weren't working every day I'm not in classes this week, and if I didn't have a couple different papers due.
There are a few people from other countries in some of my classes, but I don't know any of them and would feel extremely awkward asking them to come out for this, especially considering how little advanced notice they'd be getting.
I am so bored that I have started cleaning my room in between looking up sources for my two major papers. SAVE ME FROM MYSELF.
For the past three nights in my dreams, someone has died (or almost died, as was the case last night. Apparently my subconscious is sick of it, too). My mother (dream-me was highly traumatized), then my father (dream-me was indifferent, but possibly this was because he then came back as a ghost and annoyed everyone lots), and then not my brother last night (because dream-me was a stubborn brat and didn't listen to the people who told me he was already dead and to stay out. That and I refuse to let anyone die in a dream that appears to be pulling parts from Harry Potter. WHY Harry Potter, I have no idea. I don't even read the books!). Not quite sure what that's about.
There's another running trend appearing, but it's ... well, entirely different. Worrisome in an entirely different way, if only because it's an annoying aspect of reality that I rather wish would resolve, already, thank you.
