I inflicted the Silent Hill / Original Character story on someone, and I think it went over fairly well. Possibly I can rest easier now, knowing I have at least shared the insanity, if not disposed of it. Really it'd be boring without it.
So we were talking about the two main characters, mostly Jade. Yes, I have a character named Jade. Deal.
I've been using the name for upwards of ten years now (meaning, prior to my introduction to the internet). I honestly do not remember where it came from. Maybe a book I read. Maybe just because I've always liked the stone. No idea. (Also because I am really rather atrocious at coming up with names and so tend to recycle them lots and just go until one of them claims it as theirs. Then I find a new name and it starts all over again.)
The most recent ones have been when I took "Jade" on as part of my main Diablo II character's name, took the D2's name as my AOL screenname back when we used AOL, took part of the name back later when I was world building out of Extreme Boredom, and that Jade has hung onto it. To be fair, she's also the first one in years that wasn't just Me On The Internet, so she was the first one in years to have her own personality.
Also she is an annoying brat.

I HAVE NO EXCUSE. (Except I almost do! Someone commented to me that my original characters were in a dream they had and Jade was a giant mouse, and uh... yeah. 2 and a half minutes later...) See, things like that are the reason I should not be allowed access to paint programs after 2 am. At all. Ever. Because these keep happening, but at least this isn't The Impending Spork Ambush, which is still my favorite for reasons I do not understand.
I do not know why my original characters get up and walk out to visit other people's heads. I mean, how is that even possible?! Half of them I haven't even written about. (Admittedly, I absorb characters from other people lots more than they borrow from me, but still.)
Like Hotaru Okame? Not my character. She shows up in my headspace fairly regularly, though, and her creator has told me I'm allowed to do pretty much anything Okame actually allows me to do to her. The freaky parts are when I call up her creator and go (this is a made up example) "WTF SINCE WHEN DID OKAME HAVE A PINK PONY?!"
... And her creator goes, "You know, I was wondering the same thing, really. You mean the one with the red stripes in its mane, not the blue, right?"
And of course I do mean the one with the red stripes, not the blue, even though we aren't sure when the pink pony with blue stripes came in, either.
If that makes sense. I'm sure it doesn't.
(Er, for anyone actually wondering, Jade usually looks like the person facing away in this image. The one facing the screen is Hotaru. I forgot her face paint. Also Jade isn't smoking, despite what it kind of looks like there...)
Anyway, beta-reading may have been a false alarm, as I've not heard back since sending a reply, but knowing FF.net, it may just be that it hasn't gotten through yet. I HATE YOU TOO, FF.NET! Whatever.
I need something to do. ARG.
And no, you stupid arachnids, going through my room and systematically eradicating every last one of you doesn't count!

Completely off-topic now, but, haha, wow. Is that for real? If Wheeljack were human, he would do things like that, I think... XD Nifty idea and all, but... And those headlights are kind of a giant SHOOT HERE.
Had a storm last night. Snow and ice. Finally! \o.o/

And the eternal question. Do I repaint this guy as Comics Ratchet or as Cartoon Ratchet? Oh, dilemma.
The other question is what to do with this Ricochet, now that I've stolen his head and replaced it with Rollbar's. Also, I need to finish buying paint.
