Jecca's mother: I need you to help me put this starling *indicates closed shoebox* back in the tree.
Jecca: Okay.

Jecca's mother: If that thing jumps out of the tree again, it can just stay down here.
Baby Starling: ... *stays in the tree*

Here is a baby starling actually in the box. (I climbed the tree the old-fashioned way.)

I can't stop giggling! Oh, Baby Starling. You are charmingly useless. (I'll admit that it would probably not be quite so charming were I the person forced to constantly return Baby Starling to the tree.)

I can't be even remotely annoyed with it because it is entirely too adorable for words. I thought it was cute a few days ago, but now it is even more so. And when it tries to hide in the grass, it's just ... I mean, it fails utterly, but it's mind-shatteringly adorable.

(I am a little sick of having every second thought be, "OH GOD IS IT STILL IN THE TREE AND WHERE IS THE CAT?" though.)

Oh, that's too cute for words.

It always looks so confused when it finds itself in the grass again, too, at least before it tries to hide.

I do hope actual flying comes soon, though, because then my cat is less of a threat.

I can almost picture it in my head. Are pictures possible? XD

I bet that would be a nice load off, huh? As cute as the bird is, the threat of the cat must be a pain in the ass. >_

I didn't have a chance to get my camera this time, no. :( I was standing on the ladder when it occurred to me. At the rate we have to go intervene, though, I'll probably have another opportunity. They're a little bigger than the first time, and less fluffy-looking on account of having more feathers, but that doesn't really help.

Yeah. I'll feel really awful if she ever succeeds, because I've been trying to save them and then to have my cat go kill/eat one...
