/ja "Steal" ...?

Stealing doesn't work like that over the internet. Or possibly I just need to start writing macros for Red Mage in FFXI and stop typing everything in whenever I want to cast anything. /ma "Protect" <me>, /ma "Shell" <me>, /ma "Cure II" <me>...

I also need to stop reading forums. You know you're in trouble when you start thinking in swear-filters. What the hug, indeed.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] nano_moose, who stole it from someone else, who might've also stolen it. We're all thieves around here, apparently. But I tweaked a word. SO THERE.

We all think we are so close on LJ, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me things you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Actually, I am going to combine this with another one I had up but have since removed on account of combining posts:

Ask me to take pictures of any aspect of my life that you're interested in/curious about - it can be anything from my favorite shirt to the crammed bookcase in my living room. Leave your requests as a comment to this entry and I'll try to post the pics ASAP.

I am terrible at thinking up questions for these things. SO I will steal some from Squeem!

What's your family like?

Have you ever had to go to the hospital?

What's your favourite book?

And! Show me a picture of your computer desk! And your bookcase!

Haha, so am I. "I CAN ASK ANYTHING? *brain shuts down* ... crud!"

Family: Um! I have a brother who is two years younger than me. I usually refer to him as either Korith (per his IM account) or Nabiki (his FFXI character), but sometimes when I am feeling silly I call him "Cys-Cys" (which is his name in Al Bhed, twice. Because once was too short). He actually responds to it, which is amazing (I sometimes suspect he actually understands Al Bhed but pretends not to). He goes to college in New York right now. My mother semi-recently earned a degree in accounting and works during tax season. She has bad feet and a bad left arm (which is unfortunate, because she is left-handed) and, currently, a bad back. But she still manages to not be grumpy on account of pain all the time! Yay, Mom! My father's an engineer. He designs computer chips and seems to think this makes him know everything about how computers work, but he is very wrong and my brother (who is very computer-smart) is always having to fix the downstairs computers. I do not get along very well with my father all of the time. (He has some emotional problems, which isn't so bad because, hey, so I do, but unlike? Actually, i>quite like me, he blames everything on me. This can be traced back to math grades, of all things. I'm bad at math. No one else in my family is. CLEARLY I AM FAILING BECAUSE I WANT TO. Longer story, but that's the basics of it.)

ALSO we have a black lab named Max (and, in true labrador fashion, he is a complete moron. Also, he is allergic to about everything, so he has to eat a very specific brand of food and we have to give him shots a lot) and a grey cat who is at least part Siamese named Diana. She is adorable. (We used to have a different dog, and we had four cats at one point. Also used to have hamsters, a mouse, fish, guinea pigs, and rabbits. But not all at once.)

And I am lame and still live at home, but, er.

Distanter relatives! My father had two sisters (one is dead, I never knew her). One had four kids, the other had three. Two of the four live here in Vermont (one owns a restaurant!), one is a quadriplegic, and I don't know where or what the last one is now. I don't know much about the three, either, actually. Both of my grandparents on my father's side are dead (grandfather went in 2000, grandmother went in 2005). I don't remember my grandfather too well, but he was very smart. My grandmother didn't like children, so I didn't like her much, though once I was about fifteen she started being nicer, and then she wasn't so bad.

On my mother's side, I had four uncles (again, one is dead. I sort of knew him, but have no fond memories). Three of her brothers have three children, the last only had two. NONE OF THEM LIKE ME. By which I mean, the last few times I have been out there and forced to go see them, they have stood away from me and studiously ignored me. My CA relatives don't like me much, and by now the feeling is mutual. Actually, my mother's one older brother is very nice. Her mother is still alive, but I don't know her because CA is far away and I don't go out there much, and she refuses to come out here. Her grandmother is also alive (I think she's like 104 now), and I remember her as being very nice. She liked to feed little boys, so every time I visited her, my brother was always being handed something new to eat. I laughed at him a lot and he made woe-faces when she looked away because he was ready to pop.

Hospital: Not quite. I had to go to an emergency room of sorts (that wasn't attacked to a hospital) when I was... nine? I'd been in California with my mother and brother, and I was kicked in the face by one of my cousins. One of my teeth (fortunately only one of my baby teeth) came out... via my lip! So I had blood pouring from my face. I needed stitches. Fun! That day only got better. SHOOT OUT IN THE PARKING LOT, YAY.

I've been into hospitals a few more times: I vaguely remember visiting Mom when my brother was born, and we all went to visit my father when he was in to have his gallbladder removed.

... CHARACTER LIMIT. I type too much.

Your family sounds really interesting, though I'm sorry you have problems with your dad. And eeee, a black lab! And a cat! I am jealous.

Oh, yikes! Tooth-through-lip sounds horrible! What? Shoot out in the parking lot? What?

as soon as I see one or someone mentions one, I will remember, Oh, yes! That book! That is my favourite! Along with everything else I have ever read, apparently.

ROFL! I know, the favourite book question is horrible, I'm not sure I could ever pick one either, I've really been meaning to check out some Diana Wynne Jones, though, so I'm glad she's got your recommendation!

Mmm, booksheles full of goodies. Nice. And thank you for sharing!

My brother is one of the awesomest people I know! (To be fair, though, I don't actually know that many people.)

It actually didn't hurt too bad! Possibly because my face was numb due to face-kicking, but I'll take it. Though then the stitches did hurt, despite massive amounts of anesthetics they stuck into me. And, yes! Apparently a cop had a massive brain malfunction and decided the parking lot of a huge public park full of children was a good place to bust some drug seller. Seller started to run, cop started shooting at him. Car screeching, shots ringing, face pouring blood... Mom threw me against a tree since it was the closest shield-of-sorts. (Haha, and then later my parents wondered why my brother - an unfortunate witness to the whole thing - had anxiety problems.)

Everything I read of hers I really loved! So if you get some of her works, I hope you enjoy them! :D

Man! Do you have a scar? And wow, shoot-out! That is crazy and scary!

I hope i enjoy them too! :D

[identity profile] twilit-wanderer.livejournal.com 2008-01-31 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a very, very tiny lump of scar tissue on my right upper lip. I think it used to be a little more noticeable, but now it's kind of hard to spot unless you're looking for it. I can still feel it just fine, though.

So, face-kicking? Not recommended. Shoot-outs also not recommended! It was all rather terrifying.

Favourite Book: ... o_@ I don't know. I'm going to say my copy of Timothy Zahn's Outbound Flight (which is part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe) because I adore Zahn's writing and because my copy is autographed. BARING LAME REASONS FOR PICKING FAVOURITES? Maybe Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, because I really love that, or... I don't know, I haven't read it in ages, but I remember adoring Diana Wynne Jones' Dogsbody. ...I need to find a copy of that book. (I know I am forgetting a ton of books, and as soon as I see one or someone mentions one, I will remember, Oh, yes! That book! That is my favourite! Along with everything else I have ever read, apparently. I am useless at picking favourites sometimes.)

Pictures:
My computer's a laptop with a severe case of wanderlust! So it usually rests on my knees. However, we have two computers (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/HisiM/Other%20Stuff/Photos/Meme/Computers.png?t=1201628495) downstairs, and I do have a desk in my room (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/HisiM/Other%20Stuff/Photos/Meme/Desk.png?t=1201628494), so, uh... yay! (My desk is usually not that clean, but we took literally everything out of my room earlier this month to repaint, and I've been very, very slow moving things back in.)

Lots of bookshelving... My bookshelf (currently in my father's room): one (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/HisiM/Other%20Stuff/Photos/Meme/Bookshelf1.png?t=1201628496) two (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/HisiM/Other%20Stuff/Photos/Meme/Bookshelf2.png?t=1201628498) three (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/HisiM/Other%20Stuff/Photos/Meme/Bookshelf3.png?t=1201628500). The hall bookshelf (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/HisiM/Other%20Stuff/Photos/Meme/Bookshelf4.png?t=1201628501) (I do not know why there are lights and candles on it). The downstairs bookshelf (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c126/HisiM/Other%20Stuff/Photos/Meme/Bookshelf5.png?t=1201628503) (mostly contains music, computer supplies. The few actual books are encyclopedias and reference books and the like).
