Of course, now it's covered in groceries...
I do not feel right in the brain-area. Uuuugh. Also, I woke up, sat up, got out of bed without the aid of an alarm clock at 9:30 this morning, which, wow. Been a few weeks since I got up – never even mind out of bed – before 11 without outside assistance. But now I feel all gross and sleep-deprived (I had to get up early yesterday but did not get to bed until later than usual, so I only got about 4 hours). (It had barely been 10 hours post-pill at that point, and I woke up with the brain-fog. Is that too fast for side effects to kick in? I am sure at least part of it is psychosomatic, and my roommate was home all morning when she is usually not, so maybe there was a sound that woke me up.)
BUT, we finally have got the kitchen put into something resembling order! Holy shit, you guys, there was a floor under there this whole time! Who knew?
30 Days of Video Games
Day 24 - Favourite classic game.
Grar. How are you meaning "classic"? Because that's usually used to mean the old arcade-style games. And, uh, I don't play a lot of those classic games. There weren't any arcades nearby, and while we did visit an arcade on our yearly trips to New Hampshire, my brother and I were always more interested in bashing alligators or playing skee-ball or air hockey or winning tickets for prizes. Though we did always go a round of Q*bert, but that was more because our father insisted on it than anything else.
But if we're talking console games (and we probably are… OVERTHINKING, JECCA, YOU REALLY NEED TO WORK ON THAT. It is actually less overthinking and more rambling ceaselessly on every single word association I ever make), I'm going to go with Sonic -- .... hm. NO, I'M GOING TO CHEAT HERE, TOO. Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Which is technically two games, but they were designed to be just one game, and Sonic and Knuckles had that lock-on trick that let you play through the entire story.
Which we did.
A lot.
I mean, we didn't beat them into the group and to the point of muscle memory like we did Sonic 2, and Sonic 2 is, in my opinion, definitely harder than S3+K, more of a challenge, but something about it is just more fun in my memory. Maybe 'cause you can play as Tails and fly! Or play as Knuckles and climb things and glide and explore totally different areas! And you could get two sets of Chaos Emeralds and be even more awesome! Even Tails could power up at that point! Also, it had really, really excellent music and fantastic levels. Lava Reef! Ice Cap! Launch Base! MANY MANY MORE! "omigod i'm on fire!" on my interests list is actually tied to a memory of playing them! I was running through the game and a friend was watching, and I was of course talking and talking and talking to the game (as I do). Got to the end of Flying Battery, beat Robotnik, and was making fun of him always losing and being so surprised about it and I don't know what all exactly, but the approximate line, "Look at you! You're all, 'omigod I'm on fire!'" came out and she damn near fell off the bed laughing at how I said it (I wish I knew how I made it so funny!) and it became sort of a joke.
Also it always kind of annoyed and bewildered me (and my brother, but mostly me) that Knuckles' story very clearly takes place after Sonic's, but when you play as Sonic and/or Tails, Knuckles is always one step ahead of you. CONTINUITY. WHAT IS THAT.

Okay, sorry, this is completely random, but they released a CD called Sonic Boom at some point, and my brother got a copy (we weren't allowed to have duplicates of CDs when we were younger for whatever reason, and he got lucky), aaaaand now the internet is telling me it was only available at Toys "R" Us to customers who had pre-ordered Sonic 3. See, the problem here is, I am not sure we even had a Toys "R" Us at that point?
And also that I and my brother and my mother all remember him getting it from the music store in the mall. ??? CONFUSION.
Things Jecca occasionally spends way too much time wondering about: suddenly, surprise body swap! Aaaand, say you're right-handed. And say you're zapped into the body of someone who is left-handed. Would you still predominately use your right hand? Or would you automatically use the left, since that's the one the body uses. Oooor would you sit there switching your hands back and forth trying to decide which one to use and only be able to write anything when you weren't actually thinking about it. (It would probably depend on the nature of the body swap, too.)
I want the full official soundtrack for XIV to come out already! >:|
... not that I can afford it at the moment, anyway, but argh. Having to listen to 'em over YouTube when the urge strikes (or when one's stuck in your head but your brain is confused and keeps diverting the theme of Limsa Lominsa to the Metalworks theme from Bastok from XI...) is a bit annoying.
