Late posting.

It's less that I forgot and more that I was just feeling really, really unmotivated to type it all up.

30 Days of Video Games

Day 16 - Game with the best cut scenes.

… for the purpose of ever coming up with an answer to this, cut scenes are currently being defined as a scene where the graphics are noticeably improved. Like, pre-rendered FMV stuff (this versus this). So a fair amount of my games do not have cutscenes! (Whatever do you mean, was that the primary factor in my choosing to define "cut scenes" as I did solely for this question?) A-anyway, even if that is why I am defining it as such here, it is still a hard question! Final Fantasy VII was… pretty much the first time I had ever seen such a thing, and my brother and I were both blown away. But then Final Fantasy VIII's cut scenes were like 100 times better, and a bit more frequent, which made them even more exciting!

And, dang, we went and bought a PS2 for Final Fantasy X, but actually, despite the cut scenes in X being the ones to have emotionally impacted me the most (I am pretty sure it was the first game I played to ever make me weep), they also have some weirdness to them that is preventing me from immediately just picking X (otherwise, it would probably take this). (Like in Kilika, Yuna hovers over the water, and it always looked kinda weird – though possibly she is supposed to be hovering over it, other people have suggested. I don't know. In the intro for Dissidia 012, she is actually on the water, though, for what it's worth.) Basically, when X got it right – which, to be fair, was the vast majority of the time – it got it right, but that only made the times it didn't all the more odd. So, sorry, FFX. You do get this honourable mention, though!

… I am also tempted to answer FFXIII, because I can never recall any other game where I was so anxious to get to the next cutscene I WANT IT I WANT IT NOW WHAT HAPPENS WHAT HAPPENS WHAT HAPPENS. And, actually, going purely by the graphics, XIII should be the easy win.

I hate words like "best" they are too vague. Let's skip to Day 27, I have an answer for that one, at least. (We won't really, but all this cut scene talk has made me think about that question, which I have had an answer to all along.)

ACTUALLY WHAT THE HELL, XIII NEEDS MORE LOVE. So I guess I will pick that one, since they are the prettiest.

Here, have the opening scene. It's not the best one in the game, but it's not going to hit anyone with massive spoilers, and it's still cool.

(But, seriously, I have no idea.)

The hope it that tomorrow I will not get sucked into both watching Enchanted and killing a million things in Dissidia 012 (no bonuses tomorrow and I can't believe they'd air it two days in a row, so these seem like safe assumptions).
