Taejin's Tower… weird place. TALKING STATUES ARE MY ALLIES. Why not.
I'm not looking forward to fighting that thing.
Aww, they cut its tail off! Poor thing! (Shut up, I know it's been threatening me, but it still looks awesome…)
In FFXI, a "mushussu" is a type of scorpion! Here it is a flying thing. Not what I expected, but I think we're all painfully aware at this point of my incessant need to compare everything to FFXI… (I DON'T MEAN TO)
THERE GOES ANOTHER SEGMENT.
Yay, I made it to the apex!
…Yay, now I fight the thing!
….. Yaaay, death? Maybe? IT HAS SO MANY HIT POINTS. At least it staggers easily.
Aaand we can cross Oerba off the map, now, as well.
It takes about 500,000 CP to learn a secondary job. That is a lot.
This is kinda eerie. So, I'm fighting Mithridates, and he's kind of a jerk… anyway, Lightning's standing way across the battlefield on her own (she does this a lot, and I never quite catch how it happens…), so she's up by the camera, but everyone else is way in the background… but whenever she's healed (which is a lot) and says "Thank you" it's distant and echo-y and kind of creepy. Just "Thanks" comes through fine, so I don't know what's going on, there…
Convenient that we can just drive this spare elevator right to Oerba's door, isn't it?
If they hadn't told me otherwise, I would totally have just assumed this was snow or maybe white sand. (Despite knowing better, I still did for a moment right as we rolled in. And, to be fair, I suppose crystal powder is sand, but still.)
I keep opening the menu and being excited by how many CP I've accumulated, and then remembering I've already run everyone through everything I want them to know for now and being sad about. IT IS SO EXCITING TO LEARN NEW THINGS!
(They're all caught up on their three assigned jobs, and they've all gone through one other one, as well. Lightning learned Sentinel, Snow and Sazh both learned Medic, Vanille learned Synergist, Fang learned Ravager, and Hope learned Commando.)
Oh, my god, that cluster of monsters that appeared on the map when I accepted that mission. IT IS MASSIVE.
Oerba = communal living. Whee!
Seekers are arms? Aaaugh.
BROKEN … ROBOT THING. Nooo, Bhakti! We will FIND THE MISSING PIECES.
Yay, repairs!
… Yay, presents! Dang, buddy, where were you keeping all that?
Faultwarrens, eh…
AND NOW WE JUST LEAVE IT HERE TO RUST UP AGAIN? How nice.
MAN. All this, and the thing that finally makes me go ;___; is the description of the train. What the hell. XD "Long ago, this train car carried passengers on their travels. Corroded and deserted, it now waits to be carried off in turn." Poor thing. No one's coming for you, train car. :(
This chapter has GOT to be almost over… Can you go back to Gran Pulse after leaving?
Wow, I did not recognize Serah's voice at all. Was like, who is reciting this weird poem-thing? Silly tricks fool Snow, but they do not fool me! That's not Serah~
Claire, eh?
OH NO IT IS BART-AN-DEALIO WHATEVER GUY
Are you sure you should be out here, man? You might catch Pulse-cooties.
Wait, I thought Raines turned to crystal. Did he un-crystal really fast, or did Bart-an-dealio whatever guy turn him back? Ah, he's not… really Raines. Thing.
… Dude, I can't take anything you say seriously when you're filed as Bart-an-dealio whatever guy in my brain.
Blah, blah, GOING TO DESTROY COCOON WHEE blah. You and all your weird heads.
Yeah, my no-strategy strategy served well here. Toodles (again…), you crazy fal'Cie. (Can't you just die, already?)
(CRYSTARIUM EXPANDED I must be almost to Chapter 12! … And, oof, it's expensive.)
Sooo… group rally at the Cie'th stone aaaaand… Now I go off to farm more CP. WHEEHA.
This will probably take a while, but, hey, at least I still have a bunch of missions to work on in the meanwhile.
SO YEAH. Be back later when I finally decide to advance the plot some more.
And, beyond that (numerical order and all)...
Hilarity! The FFXIV free trial month has been extended to two now because SE has finally had to accept that its launch was LESS THAN SPECTACULAR and that it still needs some serious tweaking.
Things they have added or will be adding soon include: being able to state your location using the text command <pos>; reduction of the cost of teleporting as well as an increase in how fast you regen your points for it (anima); different chat logs for different things (the window is SO. SMALL. Multiple windows may be a little confusing, but at least it's not all just going to be immediately lost in the backlog that is impossible to scroll through on account of lag); Home will supposedly no longer open the menu when you've got the chat window open (thank goodness, I use it for typo correction and am SO SICK of pulling up the menu, instead); several menu navigation changes that cannot possibly hurt; we're getting a key for targeting NPCs! Oh, F8, I have missed you so. Never leave me again; control-r works as we all expected it to initially (in XI, that makes you cue a reply to whoever has sent you a message last, though you can then toggle through the names, so imagine our surprise when it was a little trickier in XIV); REASONS TO PARTY; and an ability to search through the market wards, which, okay, I can't even begin to tell you how stupid it is that this didn't exist from the get-go, because the lack of one is pretty much a game-ruiner. I am not even exaggerating that, it was so grossly inconvenient.
FFXI WILL STILL BE BETTER. Man. I'm kind of relieved. XIV is so much prettier, but... that's just about all it has going for it.
... Okay, I'm done talking about things no one understands now. XD
Anyway, when I heard they'd given out a second free month, I laughed and laughed and it huuurt so bad, because something is wrong with my lungs and breathing is hard and I have a cough sometimes. But! Good news! Word around is that this is the last stage of things and it should clear up in another day or two! So hopefully that plays out and I'm not coming down with, I dunno, pneumonia or something. That's a fun one. I'd gladly never have it again.
