I shouldn't have been so surprised by this. People have been driving rather terribly lately, so I've been seeing / hearing / passed by a lot of emergency vehicles. You know, ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars. Sirens and flashing lights et al. The usual.
There's a spot about half a mile from my house where one of the radio stations I listen to just stops coming in for a few seconds. Interference of some sort.
I was listening to that station tonight while driving home. It's dark, sky's clouded up, there's no one else on the road... There aren't even any streetlights around this area. I enter the radio-static area and, immediately, I hear loud sirens start going off in the distance.
I'd like to say I was calm and composed and didn't think anything of it, but really the truth of it is that I nearly jumped out of my skin.
Also I tried to hit both the gas and the clutch at the same point, which didn't go over so well, but at least I stopped that almost before I started.
Funny how Silent Hill-esque things happen like that on occasion.
