So sleepy.

I honestly think that if I didn't have to be up in an hour to put stuff on my face, I would go to bed now (bed before midnight is pretty much unheard of for me). I wasn't supposed to work today, so I didn't think anything of staying up [entirely too] late last night [this morning] to beat FFVIII (that was fast). And then Aniko's work called after I'd had maybe four hours of unconsciousness? And it woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep. But, no big deal, right? I can take it easy, maybe nap in the afternoon. Oh, what, the phone again? Now my work is calling? Sure, I always need more hours. I'll agree to come in! And then, perhaps a sign of mounting insanity or just sleep deprivation-induced poor judgment, I ended up walking to work (it's a little over two and a half miles). AND THEN I GOT TO WALK HOME, TOO. So, um. Very tired Jecca.

But I got a free sandwich out of the deal. Yay, free food.

Anyway, as you may have guessed from one of the comments above, I've been busy playing FFVIII. A couple of those times were my own fault. Aniko wasn't even around. I turned it on to go draw some magic (let's face it, that's probably a bit boring to watch) and then next thing I know it'd be much later and okay sure I'd have all the spells I needed but where did the day go? And then - augh. Wait, at least one person on my friends list has not finished this game.

Anyway, and then we got up to the Lunar Base and OKAY I ADMIT IT I KIND OF HAVE A TRIPLE TRIAD PROBLEM and you can only get the Laguna card there from Ellone (or during time compression, yes, I know about the Card Queen and the CC club members and all that). You can get Alexander from Piet as long as you're still on disc 3 (and can be bothered to find the escape pod), but since you're already there and contaminated with the horrible Lunar Base rules (CURSE YOU RANDOM) (I have a file where Random has almost been completely eliminated from the world. ONE MORE TOWN TO GO), you may as well just get it while you're in space and then hopefully lose random somewhere instead of accidentally spreading it all over like an idiot (which is what I did before going on my anti-random rule crusade. It was awful).

So I made the horrible, horrible mistake of playing a game of Triple Triad. I'd played Watts earlier for the Angelo card, but there was no challenge and he used it in the first game we played so I made it out unscathed. But Random doesn't really allow that. It gives you bite bugs and grats, and then the one decent card, so when you lose, you have to reset the game because LIKE HELL you're playing with that stupid Random rule any more than you have to. GIVE ME THE LAGUNA CARD AND LET ME GET ON WITH LIFE. I did surrender a few cards to her, but they were just some generic monster cards. And then I got Alexander right off easy. BUT NOOOO too laaaaate and I needed items for upgrading and for Doomtrain and oh god somehow I spent like three hours playing cards with Martine at FH. I was trying to get to Garden, but, er, I. Didn't.

Then it turns out I didn't need them, anyway, because Aniko didn't want to do any sidequests (what? No Shumi? No Bahamut or Odin or Tonberry or Cactuar? No Ultima? No AGSVDHUFKJ CHOCOBO FOREST OF SOLITUDEs? No Obel Lake, which is admittedly one I've always found a bit annoying? I could've/would've leveled and gathered spells on my own time).

So I just loaded another file (which also doesn't have Bahamut, Tonberry, Cactuar, or Eden, but my other other file is my first game and I missed Siren, and I'd rather just already have Treatment than everyone else) and off we went. LUNATIC PANDORA yaaay. Time Compression, yaaay. Pulling the bell to summon Omega and then running around in a circle screaming in terror, yaaay. And I got Eden anyway, so there. ALSO SQUALL WAS A JERK AND REFUSED TO KILL TIAMAT UNTIL AFTER SHE'S USED DARK FLARE just because he had to prove to me that my "argh he's gonna die"ing was unfounded. Turns out he was junctioned to absorb it. (What? No, of course I don't go around with Squall suffering from chronic low hit points just so I can abuse his limit break WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT.) Seriously, though, he was only hitting a few times, then she flared us and then he used Lion Heart and she was dead, so I don't know. Then Ultimecia/Griever/thing kept killing him so I gave up and went with Revive + Aura instead of just Life.

ANYWAY, anyway, I don't know what I'm on about. (How would that mission report go, d'you imagine? They never, ever give you the right party at the start of the battle. "And then I killed Quistis, had Irvine shoot himself, and at least we can blame Ultimecia for Selphie but I could have revived her I JUST CHOSE NOT TO.")

It is my great dream to someday have the patience to sit around and wait for Angelo Rush to win the game, by the way. Can you imagine? AND THEN ULTIMECIA WAS DEFEATED BY - SURPRISE! RANDOM DOG ATTACK.

Oh! Man. I somehow love Laguna a little more every time I play the game. I don't even know. He actually annoyed me a bit the first time through (possibly channeling too much Squall, there? Not sure), but he has grown on me horribly. HOWEVER, every time I get to the point where you walk into the Esthar President's room to find oh god what he is running the country somehow, my reaction is always nothing so much as the strong urge to just walk back out of the room. I actually think I might have the first time. And then I collapsed in confused hysterics. (Seriously, though, what? Just... what? HOW? And not even Laguna can tell you, which is kind of worrying on one level.)

AND THEN ANIKO TOLD ME I WAS MEAN FOR NOT TELLING HER SQUALL WASN'T DEAD. Shut up, it got me the first time, too. It's Square, not me! When the screen goes all white and slowly fades out, I was a bit worried that was where they decided to end the game. I probably would have thrown something if that had actually been the case.

(Why does it always come down to Aniko calling me names? XD;)

... I still (AND WILL ALWAYS) refuse to accept Dissidia's pronunciation of Ultimecia. "Ultih-meesha" = NO. They write her dialogue wrong, anyway (WHAT WHY IS THERE A C THERE THAT SHOULD BE A K WHAT ARE YOU DOING).

So, yeah, now Aniko is off being scared by the FFVIII fandom. I think I warned her about most of the stuff that'll probably make her head spin? Hard to remember everything, and there's surely some new things. I know I forgot to mention the Rinoa = Ultimecia theory that she probably won't like. (Also she likes Squall/Rinoa, so if it's still anything like I remember, the fandom will not be kind to her. ALAS. ALSO I LIKE SQUALL AND RINOA TOGETHER NO VITRIOL ALLOWED HERE unless it is also directed at me. I know that is an unpopular pairing.)

So rambley. I'll stop now.

Aaanyway, the oven at work is possessed (it's that time of year, I suppose). Keeps going too hot, but as soon as you notice, it cools back down.

I am bummed that I am working Saturday night. Oh, well. I GUESS THIS MEANS ANIKO AND I WILL JUST HAVE TO EAT THE CANDY WE BOUGHT INSTEAD OF HANDING IT OUT. GOSH. TOO BAD.

Oh, right, just glanced down at the tags (sometimes I fill them in first, sometimes last, and sometimes I add some, then add more when I go off on huge tangents). I still remember my NaNoWriMo log in. Nooo, what am I doing. noooooo. Still have block, have no story ideas, nuuuu.

Thank goodness, it is almost midnight. Hopefully I sleep enough tonight and can catch up on life tomorrow before going back to work. Or after work. Or, I don't know, something, anyway.
