What I would suggest is skipping series two and three and going straight to the fourth series. By that point, not one of the actors from the first series remains, so you can pretend you're watching something entirely different and you don't get the sense of 'noooo, it's Rose but the Doctor is wrong'. (The second series is my least favourite.) Also, the fourth series has Donna, and I love her an insane amount.

(Miiight be best not to watch the last episode, though. I don't know. There were some unpopular decisions.)

Actually, don't skip the third series entirely. The third series (also devoid of actors from the first) has weak moments, but I seem to remember 'Smith and Jones' and 'The Shakespeare Code' being worth watching, and perhaps 'Human Nature'/'The Family of Blood', and 'Blink' is amazing, and you have to watch 'Utopia', 'The Sound of Drums' and 'Last of the Time Lords' (but especially 'The Sound of Drums') because THE MASTER THE MASTER I LOVE HIM.

But yes, do watch the fourth series, because Donna is possibly my favourite Doctor Who character of all. (She makes her first appearance in 'The Runaway Bride', a Christmas special between series two and three, so watching that might make sense.)
