CHOCO-WATCH!
I'm going to be nice and pin this entry at the top of my journal. This way I can just edit more chocobo-induced incoherency in instead of spamming another entry about it! Yaaay!
So behind the cut will be... probably eventually a day by day account of my CHOCOBO RAISING ADVENTURES! This, uh, this takes one hundred and thirty Earth days. Oh, dear.
There are pictures (most will be links, rather than directly posted), and maybe there will occasionally be videos, if I can get them small enough for PhotoBucket to upload. (What? Use something other than PhotoBucket?! MADNESS.)
Day 0:
Aw, little egg! ♥
We hand over our chocobo egg to Hantileon in the San d'Orian chocobo stables!
Then we ask for a status report on our chocobo, though we are not surprised that there isn't really anything to report. Then we watch over our little egg for a little longer than should have been reasonable.
Conclusion: So cute~
Day 1:
That is today, the day I made this entry.
HANTILEON HAS NEEEWS! Not much news. BUT NEWS. We wanted the detailed report, of course! ... Not very detailed. I wonder how brief the short report would have been.
Nothing else has changed, though, so we just watch over our little chocobo egg for a bit again... and what's this? Eee! It bounces a little! The little chicobo wants out! It wants to see me! I want to see you, too, little chicobo! I don't care what my lying brother says! You won't look like all the other chocobos! You will be more adorable by far!
SHUT UP I DON'T CARE THAT THEY ONLY HAVE ONE CHOCOBO MODEL MINE WILL BE CUTER
I got a video! It took a few tries, and there's a little unexplainable craziness going on (it's not in the original video, so PhotoBucket must've mucked up the upload somehow), but here is my chocobo egg! It bounces!

Day 2:
Hantileon had more news! BUT IT WAS THE SAME NEWS AS YESTERDAY.
Nothing is different! Except I am even more eager for my chocobo to hatch.

Day 3:
Hantileon's reports are useless! Nabiki says they become useful after the egg hatches. Nabiki also says that the short version of the report lacks the scene of Hantileon looking at the egg. NOW WE KNOW!
TODAY MY BABY CHOCOBO SEEMS TO BE ANXIOUS TO MEET ME! ♥ I WANT TO MEET YOU, TOO, SO MUCH, BABY CHOCOBO! Hatch soon~ :D :D :D
Here is my egg! (Hisime, why is your health so low?! Well, I died in Campaign, and then I was Raised - which is just your basic Life spell, really - and when you're Raised, you have a status effect that weakens you. My max HP in that stage was only 188. When it wore off, I suddenly had a lot more potential HP, so it looks like I got beat up or something. No, I am recovering from the beating.)

Also, here is something completely unrelated! Nabiki and I were hanging out in the past. Jugner, 20 years ago! Waiting for the Campaign event that resulted in my HP being low when I went to see my 'bo. I'd crouched to recover some HP, and after I stood up, something weird happened... My character model didn't get up from the crouch on Nabiki's screen. So she took a video. It is really weird to watch myself scooting along in the healing position. HERE IS A VIDEO OF THAT, TOO.
Day 4:

MY CHOCOBO IS A FEMALE! YAY!
I have named her Agate Blaze. Because I DON'T KNOW BUT I NEEDED A SECOND NAME but I knew Agate because I have been looking at Agate since first bringing the name list up and I said if my chocobo turned out to be female then I would name her Agate SO I DID.
YOU GUYS. SHE IS SO CUTE. YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
She just hatched, so her strength, endurance, discernment, and receptivity are all poor, BUT BUT BUT
Regarding affection, she regards me as her parent! eee! (What, er, what this really means is that I spent entirely too much time watching over my egg. You need to watch it at least 100 times or so for that. Er.)
And she has an easygoing personality, which'll make her easy to care for! And she likes clear days. I'm not sure how they know these things, since she just hatched, but whatever.
ALSO she liked her name. I named her and she made a little happy noise and danced. omg <3
So now I am setting up a care plan for my HATCHED BABY CHOCOBO OMG SO CUTE SO CUTE SO CUTE, but everything I have it do except rest lowers its affection which makes me sad. Woe. ;__;
Also.
I appear unable to actually leave the chocobo stables. Seriously, I've been standing in here for like half an hour now just watching my little girl. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Day 5:
MY CHOCOBO LOVES ME~ ♥
Hantileon says my chocobo has been receiving plenty of affection, and seems extremely happy. She is in excellent condition now! Also, she is in high spirits and flutters at me when I watch over her. CUTE.
Nabiki's chocobo egg should hatch tomorrow. She wants it to be male so she can call it Storm Trooper, but has since decided that it'll be okay if it's female, too, because, while a female Storm Trooper'd be weird, the whole point of this chocobo is to be weird, so.
Maybe our chicobos can play together in "Kamp Kweh" before ST grows into an adolescent. (Once ST hits that stage, Nabs is gonna make it work all day, because it's a Storm Trooper, damnit!)
Day 6:
I love my chocobo. HAVE I SAID THAT? HAD YOU GUESSED? Today Agate listened to music! And she liked it so much she started chirping along! My chocobo is adorable! So cute! Also, in high spirits!
Bwee~!
Also, I have learned that, while she does not mind gysahl greens, she does not like San d'Orian carrots. Which is too bad, because those are the only cheap carrots.
Day 7:
Today was walking day! Hantileon took Agate for a walk! She was interested in everything! Because she is cute and a baby, and yes. BUT, oh no! D:
She's been crying at night! D: MY BABY IS SAD!

So Hantileon has given me a white handkerchief that I must hold onto for a while so it will smell like me. Then I will give it back to him and he will give it to Agate and she will not be sad. ^_^
ALSO, I also took Agate on a walk today! I took her on one yesterday, too, actually. SHE WAS CUTE. We only go a little ways into West Ronfaure, because she's just little and can't go out too far without getting too tired.
Haha, while I was out, I ... ran into Hantileon! Who was walking a chocobo named Air. Agate and Air danced and are friends now! SO CUTE. SO SO CUTE! ♥
Day 8:
Today was another day for listening to music! Agate chirped along again, except this time I took a picture instead of a video. I like my videos! But pictures upload better. And faster.
And the white handkerchief that I got my smell all over is helping, yay! No more crying at night!
I decided to take Agate on another walk! While we were out in Ronfaure, she noticed something and wanted me to come see, too! So we went around the corner and, hey! There was another little chocobo. BUT NO OWNER. Oh, no! Little lost chocobo! SADNESS! D:
I would sob for ever if Agate got lost.
I took the little chicobo back to the stables with me and confused Hantileon. He asked me to see if I could find out who'd lost their chicobo, so now I have a mission. (Me? If I lost my Agate? I would run back to the stables in hysterics and demand a search party. But I am slightly obsessed, so, er.)
Agate and I went on another walk! She saw something, and when we got back to the stables and I checked in on her one last time, Hantileon and I noticed something buried... Well, chocobos like to give things they've picked up to their parents!
And my Agate! SHE IS SMART and finds useful things! Good girl! She picked up a clump of Tokopekko wildgrass, which is used to treat sick chocobos! So now if she gets ill, we'll have medication right then!
Nabiki's chocobo has found beastcoins and goblin masks and other assorted items you'd find on THE ENEMIES! Fitting, then, for a Storm Trooper, I suppose. Also, a pebble, to which Nabiki says: "only a few thousand years too late" and "damn obi-wan" (and if that doesn't make sense, remember in episode IV: A New Hope, Obi-Wan makes the storm troopers run off by making a little noise like throwing a pebble...).
(ALSO I AM GOING TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO MENTION: my body armor? My Rapparee harness? Is a very nice piece of equipment. It has some lovely stats. And, now that I'm a bit more used to seeing Hisime in something other than a doublet, I kind of like how it looks on her. From the back. I dislike the front! Whenever I have to look at her from the front, I immediately think, PUT A SHIRT ON HISIME.)
Day 9:
MORE WALKING! She is apparently still interested in everything around town. How cute! ♥
I've been growing my own carrots. This is working nicely - the first plant was ready to be harvested today, and I needed to feed Agate today. Plus, I got more carrots than I needed, so I can feed her again tomorrow or the next day or something. Yay! Nonhungry chocobo!
I took Agate out into Ronfaure again - this is undoubtedly going to be a daily thing - and we met Hantileon again! He was pleased to see I am taking Agate out! (Dude. DUDE. You're always right there when I leave the stables. WHY DOES THIS SURPRISE YOU. But he hopes I continue to do fine work, so that's cool, he doesn't think I'm ruining her or anything.) He's been doing his own little investigation regarding the lost chick from earlier. He has learned that the owner's name starts with... a "V"! I AM SO, SO RELIEVED. According to the chart, there are two Elvaan with a "V" name. One is male, one is female. I was very worried I would get "C" because for the two C-named Elvaan, they are both female and they are both merchants. So you have to guess. (You learn the first letter of their name, their race and gender, and their occupation.)
ALSO AGATE FOUND A PEBBLE. ♥ I have a pebble collection. I am not joking. I have, in storage in Hisime's Mog House, 24 pebbles. SOON TO BE 25 ♥ ♥ ♥

Day 10:
Another day of walking!
But nothing exciting happened.
STILL.
SHE IS VERY CUTE.
...In nine days she will be an adolescent. I'M NOT READY.
Also, I had a moment of panic when I put CHOCOBO and GOING TO BOTCON together and -- chocobo raising takes a few months. Though the stuff having the most impact takes place before the chocobo reaches its full growth. It takes 29 days for a chocobo to reach adulthood. So I got to freak out for a moment. DID I SET MYSELF UP TO EITHER ABANDON MY LITTLE GIRL BEFORE SHE WAS FINISHED GROWING? OR WOULD I MISS HER FINAL GROWTH SPURT?! NO! D:
But, haha! No! If Nabiki and I have both done the calendar-counting correctly, Agate will reach her adult stage at 4:12 PM (the chocobo-day resets at the time you handed your egg in, rather than at the Japanese or Pacific midnight) on the 23rd - the day before BotCon. I'll be here for that. YAY!
Day 11:
YES ANOTHER WALK DAY. STILL ADORABLE!
Today she found another clump of Tokopekko wildgrass and a clump of Garidav wildgrass! Garidav cures upset chocobo stomachs! So we are completely all set if anything ever happens to her! I have Gysahl greens for if she gets hurt, Tokopekko for if she gets sick, and Garidav for if she gets an upset stomach.
HOPEFULLY I WON'T NEED ANY OF IT, BUT JUST IN CASE. It never hurts to be prepared!
Also, she likes zegham carrots a bit. I want to find some vomp carrots, because maybe she'd like those better. But my plants aren't ready yet and the auction house hasn't got any.
Day 12:
Today was another music day! Agate still likes themgu

Day 13:
YAAAAY SHE'S ALL BETTER! :D :D :D ANd she's happy. And she's really hungry. I FEED HER! Hmm... I think she likes sweeter foods. So now I know? MAYBE. I will try sweeter foods next time she is hungry and see if I can't get a more enthusiastic response - I mean, so far she's liked zegham carrots best, and those are the sweeter carrots.
And, uh. That's it for today! She didn't find anything on her walk or do anything exceptional other than be REALLY REALLY CUTE. And she does that bit every day. ♥
Day 14:
Agate is getting stronger! Her strength is now "substandard" instead of "poor." Yay!
On our walks today, she found a beastcoin! And we ran into Hantileon again. He's found that the owner of the lost chick from whenever ago is a female, so now I know who the owner is but can't actually do anything about it yet because it makes you wait until you have all three pieces of info. I think. I could check that, maybe.
Anyway, Hantileon told me the story of an impatient chocobo, and said I should tell that to Agate, because communicating with our little chicobos is good for them. He tells that one to his Air.
Tomorrow is a day of basic carebecause I suck and thought I had another day of walking scheduled and so didn't check yesterday. But I will still walk and watch over Agate a lot!
--Aaand, yes. Just talked to Violitte. It's her chick. AND SHE'S LIKE, "oh you found my chick? Well, that's nice."
LADY! Your baby chocobo's been missing for like weeks and you don't care?!
She says: You have my chocobo? I must say, this is a surprise! My chocobo easily becomes lonely... His crying must have kept you awake at night. I am sure I will have to tell him his favorite story several times before he calms down again."
Then she tells me the story as thanks for saving him, so now I've learned the story of a diligent chocobo, too. I am still stuck at, what the hell you weren't even worried about him.
Ugh, whatever. At least Hantileon's glad we found the owner.
Day 15:
Shoot, you guys! I checked her but forgot to update this before I went to class! SHE IS STILL CUTE. WE WENT ON A WALK.
SHE FOUND MORE TOKOPEKKO GRASS SO IF SHE GETS SICK AGAIN SHE CAN HAVE MEDICINE AGAIN.
Uh.
She's developed a taste for San d'Orian carrots, which is funny, 'cause I've only fed her them the twice or so. But she gobbles them up in one bite now! So, hooray! Because they're cheap. And I can grow them, too.
Day 16:
Today she found a Ronfaure chestnut!
I... wasn't aware chestnuts grew in Ronfaure.

Day 17:
Her endurance went up a little!
Also: more garidav found. Such a smart little girl!
ADHFKJ ONLY LIKE A DAY AND A HALF OF HER BEING TINY. NOO.
Though I am also anxious to see what she looks like as she gets bigger! (WHAT SHUT UP WE ALREADY HAD THE DISCUSSION ABOUT ALL CHOCOBOS LOOKING THE SAME. MINE IS THE EXCEPTION. YES SHE IS. BE QUIET.)
Day 18:
She will become an adolescent tomorrow. @_@ She will not be a colored 'bo - her stats aren't high enough. A colored chocobo would've been neat, but I refuse to be disappointed if she is "only" yellow. She is my Agate and I HEART HER SO MUCH.
... No, I haven't actually checked her yet. I'm just saying this now.

Uh. We met Hantileon and Air again when we went on our walk into Ronfaure. Agate and Air still get along! Hantileon was pleased. I am raising a good chocobo! :D

She's grown up some and is not tiny anymore and I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS

My brother's agreed to check in on Agate for me while I'm at BotCon! So there won't be updates from me, but she will still be watched over. Yay!
Day 20:
I totally didn't mention it, but yesterday when Agate and I went out on a walk, we met a trio of guys who were raising a chocobo together. Their chocobo's going to be black when it grows up - you can tell because the tips of its feathers are tinted black. They're pretty pleased with themselves and their work, and told me we should race our chocobos sometime.
Well, today I decided, why not? So Hantileon set us up: they'd race from the stables, out and around the Auction House (which is close to the stables), and then return to the starting point.
Hantileon started them off. The black chocobo (name failing me, whoops?) was on the inside and took the lead around the first corner. As they ran in front of the Auction House, the townspeople cheered and clapped! As they entered the second and final corner, Agate took the inside. Then, the finish line! Agate won! Yay, Agate! Good job! What a smart girl! ♥
(For the record, you can lose, so it's not like I'm praising her needlessly, here.)
I took her on a walk, too. She found a lilac for me! How pretty!
Then I told her another story and watched over her. Happy chocobo! Cute and smart~ ♥
Day 21:
fsjdkg Ill again this is getting annoying. I have a sickly chocobo.
Anyway, on the walks she found a silver beastcoin (shiny!) and another clump of tokopekko grass.
That is all, really!
Day 22:
My girl's all better today! Hooray!
She went racing against the young black chocobo again, and she won again! I'm so proud of her!
Then we went on a walk (she found another silver beastcoin ♥), and then I told her a story.
She's so cute, and so well-behaved, and she tries so hard at everything she does! I LOVE HER SO MUCH.

MAN! It is so weird to think there's only like one more week before she's all grown up. I mean, she'll only be a young adult, so it's not like I won't be able to look after her any more (I think you can watch over your chocobo for 130 days or something, which is kind of ridiculous to think about, really), but she'll be all grown! And not small! And, and! I don't know. She's so cute. <3
Day 23:
So, Hisime apparently got sick of San d'Oria and walked to Caedarva. I wish she'd tell me these things first. Choco-update to come much, much later, then.
(Nabiki borrowed me for stuff.)
Ok.
So, I have no idea what it means in regards to how it affects her, but today Agate is both "so full of energy today" and "unusually bright and focused today!"
Making today a good day for some rigorous physical training and some rigorous mental training. Too bad I can't really do both, then.

Day 24:
Today I had Hantileon let Agate exercise with the other young chocobos! They ran around out in the grass by the stables and were cute! Also, Agate's endurance has gone up a little more. Yay!
Her excess focusing and general brightness has been drained, but she is still very energetic today!
And Agate won a third race today! My chocobo blows the tailfeathers off'a yours! Woot! One of the three guys - Bashraf - told me the story he tells their chocobo, because he says their chocobo always looks interested, and maybe Agate would like it, too. So now I know a story of a happy chocobo to tell Agate, as well!
Such a good girl~ ♥
Day 25:
Today Agate is having a temper tantrum. Chocobos being irritated is possibly one of the funniest things ever. I cannot stop giggling at her, which is kind of mean of me, but, oh, Agate, you look so silly!
What it is is that she's bored. I have accidentally made her a racing junkie. Oops. So I took her racing again, and hopefully by tomorrow she'll be feeling less foot-stampy. (Also she won again, because she is just that awesome.)
I need to go get some screenshots of this, really. She is so goofy looking.
The video's too large for PB, but here are two photos. She looks irritated! (No kidding?) And supposedly she seems interested in my story, but mostly she looks like she's considering the best way to kill something.
Day 26:
Agate exercised with the other chocobos again today! And she is still very energetic! Also, Hantileon thinks she has more zest for life these days. ♥
We went walking and I told her stories again - the usually, really.
Oh! And, of course, she was feeling more friendly today! High spirits! She is so cute when she is in high spirits! Though that is not to say she is not so cute all the rest of the time.
Day 27:
Another piss-ant chocobo day. That's how my mother referred to her last time she got stompy and bored. Oh, and she's finally burned through all of her excess energy.
So! More racing! And she won again! She's so fast and smart!
Then the walk! Even irritable, she found something! A crab shell! So now I have a crab shell that my chocobo found!
MAN. She grows up on Wednesday! That's so soon! I'm so excited, but sad at the same time. I can still tend to her, but she'll be all grown up!
Day 28:
Haha, did I completely not update yesterday (because the day I write this is actually the next entry! Oops)? AGATE'S ALL COOL. She was calm again, and is feeling exceptionally bright now. Nothing interesting found on the walks, but I ran into the Bastok chocobo dude, who was walking his chocobo, Blood.
Agate and Blood are friends! Because Agate has an easygoing personality.
Day 29:
AAAH SHE'S ALL BIG NOW WHAT WHAT WHAT
Normally I would spam images, but this is a speed update because I need to go to class and then come home and finish packing, shower, and then get to bed hopefully before 11 so I can get up at, you know, 5 am tomorrow so I can make my flight. BOTCON.
Because of the circumstances, images will come some time on Monday, after Jecca has made it home and slept a little.
Hantileon said she's big enough to ride now, but first I have to find something Agate has hidden. Chocobos hide things they consider valuable, so if I'm able to get one of her hidden items, it means she really trusts me. Of course, I went to Jugner today on the walk, and she'd never been to Jugner before, so even though I had an opportunity to scrounge around and look for it, I didn't find anything.
She's so big! She's so pretty! AGATE. AGATE YOU ARE TALLER THAN ME, NOW.

Day 30, 31, 32:
Jecca is AFK, Nabiki checks on Agate.
Day 33:
While I was away, Agate was sick once and bored once. Nabiki raced her. She won! (Bored chocobo video.) Nothing else of note appears to have happened!
Today, I took her on walks in Ronfaure and poked around for her hidden items. The first time, she caught me poking around. That was embarrassing. >.>; She kweh'd at me. But the second time, success! I found a dirty handkerchief. I'm pretty sure this is the one I had to give her when she was little.
THAT IS SO ADORABLE.
Oh, Hantileon thinks the same thing. Agate has held it very dear! I must be sure to give it back to her, or rebury it or something. Anyway, Hantileon says our bond seems to be very strong, and now he has given me my chocobo whistle. I did not register it or Agate yet, though.
Day 34:
Today while I was walking Agate in Jugner, we ran into Dietmund! He lives in Jeuno and, I dunno, had a bout of stupid or something, and his chocobo ended up getting hurt. You have to take care of the chocobo and help it recover to full to get your riding license at level 20. At 30, talking to Dietmund will get you the quest to unlock Beastmaster.
But he's not stupid anymore - his kid's all better and stuff - and so he's taking care of his chocobo again. Which is good.
Anyway! Agate is doing well.
Day 35:
She's perky and energetic again today! And her endurance has gone up a little more! She's finally at average!
And I registered her to respond to my whistle, too. It cost me 500 gil, and I'll probably rarely - if ever - actually use it, but now I can!
Day 36:
Man! Agate is like perpetually exceptionally bright and focused or energetic! Or both at once. But that was all! No problems, no changes. Good girl~ ♥
I think, since this last leg takes 100 days, that I may start only updating when something of note happens!
Day 37:
T-today she found a... a piece of rotten meat! How, um. Thoughtful!

I love you, anyway, Agate. ♥
And, you know! I can use it to catch a fish! And then I can eat the fish. Tasty fish~
Day 38:
Today! The excess energy has been burned out again, and she found some wildgrass seeds while we were walking!
Day 39:
The excess energy is back! XD
Day 40:
And today she is perky, too!
On our walk to Jugner, we met Pulonono, the stables manager from Windurst. She was mean to me back when I was recruited to help with the crazy chocobo behavior, but today she called Agate adorable. Clearly she's not completely insane. Also, Agate and Spring are friends now.
Day 41:
She's burned through the mental and physical energy, and her strength has increased to average!

Then I took her on a walk and we met Pulonono (the Windurst stables manager) again, who was glad I was still walking Agate.
Day 53:
IT NEVER ENDS. Now she's ill.
Though, "AgateBlaze has become more responsive to commands lately."
And we met Brutus again while walking. He says I should just now be starting to realize how hard it is to raise a chocobo, but that I shouldn't forget how important regular communication with her is. Then he taught me the story of a curious chocobo.
Day 54:
She's not sick any more. NOW SHE'S BORED. ...Bored adult chocobos aren't nearly as hilarious to watch as bored adolescent chocobos.
I was right about the other chocobo growing up into a black chocobo. Anyway! Today they raced in West Ronfaure. They ran down the path to one of the signs, bumped the sign, and then ran back. Agate fell way behind on the way out, but then she caught up and passed the other, and she won! YAY! She's so cute!
Because racing is a bit of an energy drain, I only took her to the pond in La Theine, instead of all the way to Jugner. She found another clump of Garidav wildgrass.
Day 55:
She is both full of zest and acting spoiled again. OH, SHE LOOKS SO SAD WHEN I HAVE TO SCOLD HER. AGATE, WHY DO YOU MAKE ME DO THIS? Dx

I took her out - that is, I used the chocobo whistle to call her so I could ride her - twice yesterday. It was really cool! Look! This is my chocobo! And I am riding her! And she loves me and I love her! :D
Anyway! Endurance and Strength are both impressive now! That is so awesome!
But for some reason, today I really want her to be a baby again. Nostalgia. Oh. Tiny little Agate! She was so small! Now she is big!

Physical energy returns! As does Pulonono, in Jugner. She reiterated what Brutus told me however long ago, then she taught me the story of a youthful chocobo. Oh, Agate, if only you were smarter, these stories I tell you could teach you things! I've failed you, baby. Maybe I should focus on brain-working for a week. And then, speaking of Brutus, we ran into him, again, too. HE TELL ME - keep up the good work! And Agate is still getting along well with Brilliant.

She's perky and has lots of mental energy! I weirded myself out by not looking close enough at the clock, so I talked to Hantileon at 4:10 and then couldn't figure out why he wasn't giving me a report. Then he automatically went to it when the time changed to 4:11 and I felt a bit stupid. She found another olive flower for me in Jugner.
He's going to take her away tomorrow.

Day 129:
I half suspected to find myself pleading Hantileon to not take her away, but... I knew it was inevitable. I still wanted to, but it wouldn't have done anything. Though it did take me a good fifteen minutes to actually talk to him.
I'm so sad. ;_; My baby's retired. I got the same video as Nabiki did, if you remember the StormTrooper-care post.
I made it through the flashback scenes, was given my plaque, and promptly burst into sobs. A bit embarrassing, that. I had to take my glasses off. Then I blindly navigated myself to my Mog House and placed the plaque on the dresser by my bed, finally displacing the Windurstian flower egg after... a few years.
And... that's it. Now I can only see her by calling her with my chocobo whistle.
She's still my baby, though. I'll miss seeing her and caring for her everyday. :(

We hand over our chocobo egg to Hantileon in the San d'Orian chocobo stables!
Then we ask for a status report on our chocobo, though we are not surprised that there isn't really anything to report. Then we watch over our little egg for a little longer than should have been reasonable.

That is today, the day I made this entry.
HANTILEON HAS NEEEWS! Not much news. BUT NEWS. We wanted the detailed report, of course! ... Not very detailed. I wonder how brief the short report would have been.
Nothing else has changed, though, so we just watch over our little chocobo egg for a bit again... and what's this? Eee! It bounces a little! The little chicobo wants out! It wants to see me! I want to see you, too, little chicobo! I don't care what my lying brother says! You won't look like all the other chocobos! You will be more adorable by far!
I got a video! It took a few tries, and there's a little unexplainable craziness going on (it's not in the original video, so PhotoBucket must've mucked up the upload somehow), but here is my chocobo egg! It bounces!

Hantileon had more news! BUT IT WAS THE SAME NEWS AS YESTERDAY.
Nothing is different! Except I am even more eager for my chocobo to hatch.

Hantileon's reports are useless! Nabiki says they become useful after the egg hatches. Nabiki also says that the short version of the report lacks the scene of Hantileon looking at the egg. NOW WE KNOW!
TODAY MY BABY CHOCOBO SEEMS TO BE ANXIOUS TO MEET ME! ♥ I WANT TO MEET YOU, TOO, SO MUCH, BABY CHOCOBO! Hatch soon~ :D :D :D
Here is my egg! (Hisime, why is your health so low?! Well, I died in Campaign, and then I was Raised - which is just your basic Life spell, really - and when you're Raised, you have a status effect that weakens you. My max HP in that stage was only 188. When it wore off, I suddenly had a lot more potential HP, so it looks like I got beat up or something. No, I am recovering from the beating.)

Also, here is something completely unrelated! Nabiki and I were hanging out in the past. Jugner, 20 years ago! Waiting for the Campaign event that resulted in my HP being low when I went to see my 'bo. I'd crouched to recover some HP, and after I stood up, something weird happened... My character model didn't get up from the crouch on Nabiki's screen. So she took a video. It is really weird to watch myself scooting along in the healing position. HERE IS A VIDEO OF THAT, TOO.

I have named her Agate Blaze. Because I DON'T KNOW BUT I NEEDED A SECOND NAME but I knew Agate because I have been looking at Agate since first bringing the name list up and I said if my chocobo turned out to be female then I would name her Agate SO I DID.
YOU GUYS. SHE IS SO CUTE. YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
She just hatched, so her strength, endurance, discernment, and receptivity are all poor, BUT BUT BUT
Regarding affection, she regards me as her parent! eee! (What, er, what this really means is that I spent entirely too much time watching over my egg. You need to watch it at least 100 times or so for that. Er.)
And she has an easygoing personality, which'll make her easy to care for! And she likes clear days. I'm not sure how they know these things, since she just hatched, but whatever.
ALSO she liked her name. I named her and she made a little happy noise and danced. omg <3

MY CHOCOBO LOVES ME~ ♥
Hantileon says my chocobo has been receiving plenty of affection, and seems extremely happy. She is in excellent condition now! Also, she is in high spirits and flutters at me when I watch over her. CUTE.
Nabiki's chocobo egg should hatch tomorrow. She wants it to be male so she can call it Storm Trooper, but has since decided that it'll be okay if it's female, too, because, while a female Storm Trooper'd be weird, the whole point of this chocobo is to be weird, so.
Maybe our chicobos can play together in "Kamp Kweh" before ST grows into an adolescent. (Once ST hits that stage, Nabs is gonna make it work all day, because it's a Storm Trooper, damnit!)
Day 6:
I love my chocobo. HAVE I SAID THAT? HAD YOU GUESSED? Today Agate listened to music! And she liked it so much she started chirping along! My chocobo is adorable! So cute! Also, in high spirits!

Also, I have learned that, while she does not mind gysahl greens, she does not like San d'Orian carrots. Which is too bad, because those are the only cheap carrots.
Day 7:
Today was walking day! Hantileon took Agate for a walk! She was interested in everything! Because she is cute and a baby, and yes. BUT, oh no! D:
She's been crying at night! D: MY BABY IS SAD!

Haha, while I was out, I ... ran into Hantileon! Who was walking a chocobo named Air. Agate and Air danced and are friends now! SO CUTE. SO SO CUTE! ♥
Day 8:
Today was another day for listening to music! Agate chirped along again, except this time I took a picture instead of a video. I like my videos! But pictures upload better. And faster.
And the white handkerchief that I got my smell all over is helping, yay! No more crying at night!
I decided to take Agate on another walk! While we were out in Ronfaure, she noticed something and wanted me to come see, too! So we went around the corner and, hey! There was another little chocobo. BUT NO OWNER. Oh, no! Little lost chocobo! SADNESS! D:
I would sob for ever if Agate got lost.
I took the little chicobo back to the stables with me and confused Hantileon. He asked me to see if I could find out who'd lost their chicobo, so now I have a mission. (Me? If I lost my Agate? I would run back to the stables in hysterics and demand a search party. But I am slightly obsessed, so, er.)
Agate and I went on another walk! She saw something, and when we got back to the stables and I checked in on her one last time, Hantileon and I noticed something buried... Well, chocobos like to give things they've picked up to their parents!
And my Agate! SHE IS SMART and finds useful things! Good girl! She picked up a clump of Tokopekko wildgrass, which is used to treat sick chocobos! So now if she gets ill, we'll have medication right then!
Nabiki's chocobo has found beastcoins and goblin masks and other assorted items you'd find on THE ENEMIES! Fitting, then, for a Storm Trooper, I suppose. Also, a pebble, to which Nabiki says: "only a few thousand years too late" and "damn obi-wan" (and if that doesn't make sense, remember in episode IV: A New Hope, Obi-Wan makes the storm troopers run off by making a little noise like throwing a pebble...).
(ALSO I AM GOING TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO MENTION: my body armor? My Rapparee harness? Is a very nice piece of equipment. It has some lovely stats. And, now that I'm a bit more used to seeing Hisime in something other than a doublet, I kind of like how it looks on her. From the back. I dislike the front! Whenever I have to look at her from the front, I immediately think, PUT A SHIRT ON HISIME.)

MORE WALKING! She is apparently still interested in everything around town. How cute! ♥
I've been growing my own carrots. This is working nicely - the first plant was ready to be harvested today, and I needed to feed Agate today. Plus, I got more carrots than I needed, so I can feed her again tomorrow or the next day or something. Yay! Nonhungry chocobo!
I took Agate out into Ronfaure again - this is undoubtedly going to be a daily thing - and we met Hantileon again! He was pleased to see I am taking Agate out! (Dude. DUDE. You're always right there when I leave the stables. WHY DOES THIS SURPRISE YOU. But he hopes I continue to do fine work, so that's cool, he doesn't think I'm ruining her or anything.) He's been doing his own little investigation regarding the lost chick from earlier. He has learned that the owner's name starts with... a "V"! I AM SO, SO RELIEVED. According to the chart, there are two Elvaan with a "V" name. One is male, one is female. I was very worried I would get "C" because for the two C-named Elvaan, they are both female and they are both merchants. So you have to guess. (You learn the first letter of their name, their race and gender, and their occupation.)
ALSO AGATE FOUND A PEBBLE. ♥ I have a pebble collection. I am not joking. I have, in storage in Hisime's Mog House, 24 pebbles. SOON TO BE 25 ♥ ♥ ♥

Also, I had a moment of panic when I put CHOCOBO and GOING TO BOTCON together and -- chocobo raising takes a few months. Though the stuff having the most impact takes place before the chocobo reaches its full growth. It takes 29 days for a chocobo to reach adulthood. So I got to freak out for a moment. DID I SET MYSELF UP TO EITHER ABANDON MY LITTLE GIRL BEFORE SHE WAS FINISHED GROWING? OR WOULD I MISS HER FINAL GROWTH SPURT?! NO! D:
But, haha! No! If Nabiki and I have both done the calendar-counting correctly, Agate will reach her adult stage at 4:12 PM (the chocobo-day resets at the time you handed your egg in, rather than at the Japanese or Pacific midnight) on the 23rd - the day before BotCon. I'll be here for that. YAY!
Day 11:
YES ANOTHER WALK DAY. STILL ADORABLE!
Today she found another clump of Tokopekko wildgrass and a clump of Garidav wildgrass! Garidav cures upset chocobo stomachs! So we are completely all set if anything ever happens to her! I have Gysahl greens for if she gets hurt, Tokopekko for if she gets sick, and Garidav for if she gets an upset stomach.
HOPEFULLY I WON'T NEED ANY OF IT, BUT JUST IN CASE. It never hurts to be prepared!
Also, she likes zegham carrots a bit. I want to find some vomp carrots, because maybe she'd like those better. But my plants aren't ready yet and the auction house hasn't got any.
Day 12:

Day 13:
YAAAAY SHE'S ALL BETTER! :D :D :D ANd she's happy. And she's really hungry. I FEED HER! Hmm... I think she likes sweeter foods. So now I know? MAYBE. I will try sweeter foods next time she is hungry and see if I can't get a more enthusiastic response - I mean, so far she's liked zegham carrots best, and those are the sweeter carrots.
And, uh. That's it for today! She didn't find anything on her walk or do anything exceptional other than be REALLY REALLY CUTE. And she does that bit every day. ♥
Day 14:
Agate is getting stronger! Her strength is now "substandard" instead of "poor." Yay!
On our walks today, she found a beastcoin! And we ran into Hantileon again. He's found that the owner of the lost chick from whenever ago is a female, so now I know who the owner is but can't actually do anything about it yet because it makes you wait until you have all three pieces of info. I think. I could check that, maybe.
Anyway, Hantileon told me the story of an impatient chocobo, and said I should tell that to Agate, because communicating with our little chicobos is good for them. He tells that one to his Air.
Tomorrow is a day of basic care
--Aaand, yes. Just talked to Violitte. It's her chick. AND SHE'S LIKE, "oh you found my chick? Well, that's nice."
LADY! Your baby chocobo's been missing for like weeks and you don't care?!
She says: You have my chocobo? I must say, this is a surprise! My chocobo easily becomes lonely... His crying must have kept you awake at night. I am sure I will have to tell him his favorite story several times before he calms down again."
Then she tells me the story as thanks for saving him, so now I've learned the story of a diligent chocobo, too. I am still stuck at, what the hell you weren't even worried about him.
Ugh, whatever. At least Hantileon's glad we found the owner.
Day 15:
Shoot, you guys! I checked her but forgot to update this before I went to class! SHE IS STILL CUTE. WE WENT ON A WALK.
SHE FOUND MORE TOKOPEKKO GRASS SO IF SHE GETS SICK AGAIN SHE CAN HAVE MEDICINE AGAIN.
Uh.
She's developed a taste for San d'Orian carrots, which is funny, 'cause I've only fed her them the twice or so. But she gobbles them up in one bite now! So, hooray! Because they're cheap. And I can grow them, too.
Day 16:
Today she found a Ronfaure chestnut!
I... wasn't aware chestnuts grew in Ronfaure.

She will become an adolescent tomorrow. @_@ She will not be a colored 'bo - her stats aren't high enough. A colored chocobo would've been neat, but I refuse to be disappointed if she is "only" yellow. She is my Agate and I HEART HER SO MUCH.

My brother's agreed to check in on Agate for me while I'm at BotCon! So there won't be updates from me, but she will still be watched over. Yay!
Day 20:
I totally didn't mention it, but yesterday when Agate and I went out on a walk, we met a trio of guys who were raising a chocobo together. Their chocobo's going to be black when it grows up - you can tell because the tips of its feathers are tinted black. They're pretty pleased with themselves and their work, and told me we should race our chocobos sometime.
Well, today I decided, why not? So Hantileon set us up: they'd race from the stables, out and around the Auction House (which is close to the stables), and then return to the starting point.
Hantileon started them off. The black chocobo (name failing me, whoops?) was on the inside and took the lead around the first corner. As they ran in front of the Auction House, the townspeople cheered and clapped! As they entered the second and final corner, Agate took the inside. Then, the finish line! Agate won! Yay, Agate! Good job! What a smart girl! ♥
(For the record, you can lose, so it's not like I'm praising her needlessly, here.)
I took her on a walk, too. She found a lilac for me! How pretty!
Then I told her another story and watched over her. Happy chocobo! Cute and smart~ ♥
Day 21:
fsjdkg Ill again this is getting annoying. I have a sickly chocobo.
Anyway, on the walks she found a silver beastcoin (shiny!) and another clump of tokopekko grass.

Day 22:
My girl's all better today! Hooray!
She went racing against the young black chocobo again, and she won again! I'm so proud of her!
Then we went on a walk (she found another silver beastcoin ♥), and then I told her a story.
She's so cute, and so well-behaved, and she tries so hard at everything she does! I LOVE HER SO MUCH.

MAN! It is so weird to think there's only like one more week before she's all grown up. I mean, she'll only be a young adult, so it's not like I won't be able to look after her any more (I think you can watch over your chocobo for 130 days or something, which is kind of ridiculous to think about, really), but she'll be all grown! And not small! And, and! I don't know. She's so cute. <3

So, I have no idea what it means in regards to how it affects her, but today Agate is both "so full of energy today" and "unusually bright and focused today!"
Making today a good day for some rigorous physical training and some rigorous mental training. Too bad I can't really do both, then.

Day 24:
Today I had Hantileon let Agate exercise with the other young chocobos! They ran around out in the grass by the stables and were cute! Also, Agate's endurance has gone up a little more. Yay!
Her excess focusing and general brightness has been drained, but she is still very energetic today!
And Agate won a third race today! My chocobo blows the tailfeathers off'a yours! Woot! One of the three guys - Bashraf - told me the story he tells their chocobo, because he says their chocobo always looks interested, and maybe Agate would like it, too. So now I know a story of a happy chocobo to tell Agate, as well!

Day 25:
Today Agate is having a temper tantrum. Chocobos being irritated is possibly one of the funniest things ever. I cannot stop giggling at her, which is kind of mean of me, but, oh, Agate, you look so silly!
What it is is that she's bored. I have accidentally made her a racing junkie. Oops. So I took her racing again, and hopefully by tomorrow she'll be feeling less foot-stampy. (Also she won again, because she is just that awesome.)
I need to go get some screenshots of this, really. She is so goofy looking.
The video's too large for PB, but here are two photos. She looks irritated! (No kidding?) And supposedly she seems interested in my story, but mostly she looks like she's considering the best way to kill something.
Day 26:
Agate exercised with the other chocobos again today! And she is still very energetic! Also, Hantileon thinks she has more zest for life these days. ♥
We went walking and I told her stories again - the usually, really.
Oh! And, of course, she was feeling more friendly today! High spirits! She is so cute when she is in high spirits! Though that is not to say she is not so cute all the rest of the time.
Day 27:
Another piss-ant chocobo day. That's how my mother referred to her last time she got stompy and bored. Oh, and she's finally burned through all of her excess energy.
So! More racing! And she won again! She's so fast and smart!
Then the walk! Even irritable, she found something! A crab shell! So now I have a crab shell that my chocobo found!
MAN. She grows up on Wednesday! That's so soon! I'm so excited, but sad at the same time. I can still tend to her, but she'll be all grown up!
Day 28:
Haha, did I completely not update yesterday (because the day I write this is actually the next entry! Oops)? AGATE'S ALL COOL. She was calm again, and is feeling exceptionally bright now. Nothing interesting found on the walks, but I ran into the Bastok chocobo dude, who was walking his chocobo, Blood.
Agate and Blood are friends! Because Agate has an easygoing personality.
Day 29:
AAAH SHE'S ALL BIG NOW WHAT WHAT WHAT
Normally I would spam images, but this is a speed update because I need to go to class and then come home and finish packing, shower, and then get to bed hopefully before 11 so I can get up at, you know, 5 am tomorrow so I can make my flight. BOTCON.
Because of the circumstances, images will come some time on Monday, after Jecca has made it home and slept a little.
Hantileon said she's big enough to ride now, but first I have to find something Agate has hidden. Chocobos hide things they consider valuable, so if I'm able to get one of her hidden items, it means she really trusts me. Of course, I went to Jugner today on the walk, and she'd never been to Jugner before, so even though I had an opportunity to scrounge around and look for it, I didn't find anything.
She's so big! She's so pretty! AGATE. AGATE YOU ARE TALLER THAN ME, NOW.

Day 30, 31, 32:

Day 33:
While I was away, Agate was sick once and bored once. Nabiki raced her. She won! (Bored chocobo video.) Nothing else of note appears to have happened!
Today, I took her on walks in Ronfaure and poked around for her hidden items. The first time, she caught me poking around. That was embarrassing. >.>; She kweh'd at me. But the second time, success! I found a dirty handkerchief. I'm pretty sure this is the one I had to give her when she was little.
THAT IS SO ADORABLE.
Oh, Hantileon thinks the same thing. Agate has held it very dear! I must be sure to give it back to her, or rebury it or something. Anyway, Hantileon says our bond seems to be very strong, and now he has given me my chocobo whistle. I did not register it or Agate yet, though.
Day 34:
Today while I was walking Agate in Jugner, we ran into Dietmund! He lives in Jeuno and, I dunno, had a bout of stupid or something, and his chocobo ended up getting hurt. You have to take care of the chocobo and help it recover to full to get your riding license at level 20. At 30, talking to Dietmund will get you the quest to unlock Beastmaster.
But he's not stupid anymore - his kid's all better and stuff - and so he's taking care of his chocobo again. Which is good.
Anyway! Agate is doing well.
Day 35:
She's perky and energetic again today! And her endurance has gone up a little more! She's finally at average!
And I registered her to respond to my whistle, too. It cost me 500 gil, and I'll probably rarely - if ever - actually use it, but now I can!
Day 36:
Man! Agate is like perpetually exceptionally bright and focused or energetic! Or both at once. But that was all! No problems, no changes. Good girl~ ♥
I think, since this last leg takes 100 days, that I may start only updating when something of note happens!
Day 37:
T-today she found a... a piece of rotten meat! How, um. Thoughtful!

Today! The excess energy has been burned out again, and she found some wildgrass seeds while we were walking!

On our walk to Jugner, we met Pulonono, the stables manager from Windurst. She was mean to me back when I was recruited to help with the crazy chocobo behavior, but today she called Agate adorable. Clearly she's not completely insane. Also, Agate and Spring are friends now.
Day 41:
She's burned through the mental and physical energy, and her strength has increased to average!
Also, met Brutus on the Jugner walk. He called Agate a "mighty fine specimen" and Agate befriended Brilliant.
Day 42:
Excess mental energy returns! o_O; Part of me is beginning to wonder it bothers wearing out, since it's never gone for longer than a day.

Hantileon says, "You have done a magnificent job raising this chocobo. Now is the best time to improve its attributes. And I must say, AgateBlaze is beginning to develop quite a distinguished air."

Physical back, mental gone.

... Also, she's lovesick. Thankfully, celerity salads are less than I was expecting, so I can afford one. Space-case chocobo.

Lovesick status and excess energy have both gone again. Also, she found another bag of wildgrass seeds!

Whups, she's hopelessly spoiled. Though, watching Hantileon run around as she warks at him was hilarious (video, though I missed the first part, alas). (Sorry, Hantileon!)
I had to scold her. I feel bad. She looked so sad about it...
Then I took her on a walk and we met Pulonono (the Windurst stables manager) again, who was glad I was still walking Agate.
Day 53:
IT NEVER ENDS. Now she's ill.
Though, "AgateBlaze has become more responsive to commands lately."
And we met Brutus again while walking. He says I should just now be starting to realize how hard it is to raise a chocobo, but that I shouldn't forget how important regular communication with her is. Then he taught me the story of a curious chocobo.
Day 54:
She's not sick any more. NOW SHE'S BORED. ...Bored adult chocobos aren't nearly as hilarious to watch as bored adolescent chocobos.
I was right about the other chocobo growing up into a black chocobo. Anyway! Today they raced in West Ronfaure. They ran down the path to one of the signs, bumped the sign, and then ran back. Agate fell way behind on the way out, but then she caught up and passed the other, and she won! YAY! She's so cute!
Because racing is a bit of an energy drain, I only took her to the pond in La Theine, instead of all the way to Jugner. She found another clump of Garidav wildgrass.
Day 55:
She is both full of zest and acting spoiled again. OH, SHE LOOKS SO SAD WHEN I HAVE TO SCOLD HER. AGATE, WHY DO YOU MAKE ME DO THIS? Dx

Day 56:
Oh, no! She got injured! Thankfully, I'm prepared! I have a full stack of Gausebit wildgrass. (Hurt chocobo video.)

I didn't take her out walking, on account of her injury. Instead I sat in her stall and told her stories. I hope she feels better tomorrow. :(

ZEST FOR LIFE.
I took her out - that is, I used the chocobo whistle to call her so I could ride her - twice yesterday. It was really cool! Look! This is my chocobo! And I am riding her! And she loves me and I love her! :D
Anyway! Endurance and Strength are both impressive now! That is so awesome!
But for some reason, today I really want her to be a baby again. Nostalgia. Oh. Tiny little Agate! She was so small! Now she is big!
Day 60:
Physical energy returns! As does Pulonono, in Jugner. She reiterated what Brutus told me however long ago, then she taught me the story of a youthful chocobo. Oh, Agate, if only you were smarter, these stories I tell you could teach you things! I've failed you, baby. Maybe I should focus on brain-working for a week. And then, speaking of Brutus, we ran into him, again, too. HE TELL ME - keep up the good work! And Agate is still getting along well with Brilliant.
Day 61:
Excess energy is gone. ...Spoiled chocobo is scolded. T__T
Day 62:
This is day one of me attempting to raise her discernment and receptivity! Be smart, little chocobo who is actually not so little! She is listening to music again. And! Still singing along. One, two, three, video! Also, she found a goblin helm while we were walking in Jugner.

Pulonono again! Agate still gets along with Spring.
Day 64:
She's capped out. "AgateBlaze's growth seems to have stabilized. The animal has developed quite a distinguished air. And I much say, AgateBlaze seems quite satisfied. You have raised one fine animal." Yay! And also sadness. She's a good chocobo, and she's happy, and I did well! But she's pretty much done learning now.
Saw Brutus in Jugner again. Agate + Brilliant = FRIENDS. Still.

... This is the halfway point. NO! ONLY SIXTY-FIVE MORE DAYS BEFORE SHE IS FORCED TO RETIRE AND I CAN ONLY SEE HER BY USING MY WHISTLE TO CALL HER. D: *angsts*

Physical energy gone. Also: Brutus. Then Zopago.
Day 125:
Bored 'bo goes racing! And she won! ♥ Also, her physical energy is back. We met Hantileon in Ronfaure.
Day 126:
Spoiled! Again. o_O She found a bag of wildgrass seeds in Jugner!
Day 127:
Physical energy is gone again. She found another gregarious worm in Jugner, then a clump of tokopekko wildgrass in La Theine. Also, she's been spoiled and so scolded too much recently, as my affection level is down one. :( Watching over her a bit fixed that, though. Fed her the worm, though since she found one, I still have one left for oh god tomorrow is the last day I can care for her, oh god i wasn't thinking about that I.
Day 128:
She's perky and has lots of mental energy! I weirded myself out by not looking close enough at the clock, so I talked to Hantileon at 4:10 and then couldn't figure out why he wasn't giving me a report. Then he automatically went to it when the time changed to 4:11 and I felt a bit stupid. She found another olive flower for me in Jugner.
He's going to take her away tomorrow.

Day 129:
I half suspected to find myself pleading Hantileon to not take her away, but... I knew it was inevitable. I still wanted to, but it wouldn't have done anything. Though it did take me a good fifteen minutes to actually talk to him.
I'm so sad. ;_; My baby's retired. I got the same video as Nabiki did, if you remember the StormTrooper-care post.
I made it through the flashback scenes, was given my plaque, and promptly burst into sobs. A bit embarrassing, that. I had to take my glasses off. Then I blindly navigated myself to my Mog House and placed the plaque on the dresser by my bed, finally displacing the Windurstian flower egg after... a few years.
And... that's it. Now I can only see her by calling her with my chocobo whistle.
She's still my baby, though. I'll miss seeing her and caring for her everyday. :(
