Horrible way to wake up:

Nearly 3 AM with ECCE CAESAR OF ALL THINGS rolling around in your head.

LATIN DAY, I HAVEN'T ATTENDED YOU SINCE GRADUATING FOUR YEARS AGO. WHY NOW?

Google has, however, turned up the lyrics. First hit, actually. The second hit is some of the 2003 info. I'm kind of surprised. ... Surely other places have Latin Day and sing Ecce Caesar? Maybe we're just the only ones to put this stuff online.

ECCE CAESAR
(mostly to the tune of "Clementine")

Ecce Caesar nunc triumphat qui subegit Galliam,
Civiumque multitudo celebrat victoriam.

Gaius Iulius Caesar noster, imperator, pontifex,
Primum praetor, deinde consul, nunc dictator, moxque rex.

En victores procedentes, laeti floribus novis,
Magna praeda sunt potiti et captivis plurimis.

Exsultantes magna voce Io triumphe! concinunt,
Dum auratum ante currum victas urbes praeferunt.

Legiones viam sacram totam complent strepitu,
Capitolinumque collem scandit Caesar in curru.

O sol pulcher, aster magne! Caesarem recepimus,
Et corona triumphali honoratum vidimus

If you are struck by enough madness to sing it, make sure you use hard 'c' and 'g' and pronounce the 'v' as a 'w'... I'll know if you don't. (No, I lie. I probably won't.) (Also, don't worry. You cannot possibly sound as awful as I just did.)

Also, apparently my old school lost this year's Latin Day for the first time in eight years. BUT IT WASN'T TO ESSEX. SO IT'S COOL.

... I miss Latin so much.

Now I'm wide awake. Crud.
