... this is tricky to answer without spoiling much!

Okay, here are some thoughts: in the end, I can honestly say that I really, really enjoyed XIII-2. I guess the gameplay is probably a little better, but you don't get the same level of character development and interaction that we saw in the original. Also, the original cast is mostly relegated to supporting roles, since you spend the whole game playing as Serah and Noel. And it did take me a while to warm up to Noel, but I did! And Noel is awesome! Not as awesome as Serah, but it's hard to be as awesome as someone who's so obviously related to Lightning. (Which is sort of a reason to play it all on its own, seeing Serah be something other than a Plot Crystal. APPARENTLY SERAH IS REALLY FANTASTIC! Who knew?)

So, um, I guess, I would say it is definitely worth it to play XIII-2, but be prepared for it to not exactly have what you want. It is awesome, just in different ways, and the transition from XIII to -2 might be a little hard, because WHERE ARE MY AWESOME GIRLS? But give it a shot and it'll prove itself.

And then that all said, there's really no rush (other than to avoid spoilers, and okay yes, believe me, there are a few you will not want to know about), so if you want to wait for the price to come down to a more reasonable level, well, I certainly won't judge you.

... DID THAT HELP or is it as incoherent as I'm afraid it might be?
