What I really want to do, every Thursday evening, is talk to someone about the most recent episode of the Life on Mars remake, and compare it to the original. What they did differently, and how it worked or didn't. What they kept the same. What they ripped directly, word for word, out of the original.

Unfortunately, I can't talk to my brother about it, because he gets all uppity at me, saying I only dislike things because I'm an elitist and I'll never find any merits in any of it because I like the original too much, and trying to explain to him that, no, maybe I just wish they'd write their own dialogue, is too much work and never works, anyway. Aniko still hasn't accepted that they've made a remake and doesn't seem to be able to handle the changes they make (but doesn't like the things they leave the same, either).

Now, they aren't actually watching the remake, but have seen the original and could understand what I'm talking about, at least a little.

My parents aren't watching it, either, and my father's in bed by the time it starts (plus, the one time I tried to talk with him, he pulled a similar thing to my brother. 'You only think it isn't good because you like the original and it copies the original.') My mother doesn't seem interested in hearing me talk about it.

So, yeah. Apparently I don't like any of the things I think I do like, and I only dislike the things I dislike because I'm an purist jerk who can't handle changes to anything. Great. Glad we've got that cleared up.

I am not sure I'm going to keep watching it, at this rate.

... Damn it, speaking of my mother, every time I refresh JetBlue's flight tracker, Mom's flight gets in later. I'm going to be up until 3 am waiting for her to arrive so I can go pick her up, at this rate...
