Adventurer Appreciation Campaign

Last year was the fifth anniversary of Final Fantasy XI, and they gave out a really nice item to everyone. It was a ring with an enchantment that allowed you to gain a nice experience bonus for a while (+3000 experience or 720 minutes duration, whichever comes first). Supposedly a one-time only thing, and once it was used up, it was gone for ever! I've used it once or twice on Hisime, but it has ten uses.

This year, the first item they want to give you is... another Anniversary Ring. But you can't have two, so you need to throw away the one from last year before they'll give you anything other than your stats, and that's just fine for the people who've used all of their charges. It seems like such a waste to just toss all that free experience for the rest of us...

It's only a minor annoyance, though, and I'll probably just toss the fully charged rings on Aya and Ki to pick up the new ones and then get other free things. Yeah, I want the free lame items. I'll admit this. I have no shame.

These were at the beginning of the campaign. Now it's the end, and I managed to use all 10 of the charges from last year's ring on Hisime - barely. I didn't even bother trying with the other two. Sorry, girls.
