BLM EAT DIRT

Last year on Thanksgiving I think I ran around painting trees and suns in the sky and stuff. This year I had Temple of the Ancients flashbacks. (Okay, so they started a few days ago. Whatever, shut up.)

HERE IS THIS DEVICE WHICH IS WARP-INDUCING. (haha. 'Hey, I don't entirely know what this is or how or works or where it'll send me, but it's potentially useful, so I use them lots, anyway.' You two are either far braver than I, or far less sane. Probably both.) Now that that conversation is out of the way. There is another warpything and a dead end and a – and a wall monster! OKAY! I’ll admit, that was unexpected. Oh god I do not want to die. Waaaaaall.

There was a wall boss in FFVII, too. It murdered my brother a lot. I’d leveled and used Aeris a bit more, so she had Planet Protector, which made things considerably easier. Haha! You cannot hurt me! I do not have that now. This will probably not go well.

… wow, I really hope that painful-looking Inferno is something I just somehow cast and not something that’s being cast on me.

OKAY IT WAS SO WE’RE STILL SAFE FOR NOW. Ow, there went half my party. (Fran is dead, Basch, uh. Went away. Somewhere.) Never mind. OH GOD RUN AWAY.

Except, you know. Boss fight. Hard to run away from those.

Ahaha! Oh, geez. I don’t know if that was genius or disturbing. GAME OVER. Crushed to death! That went depressingly poorly. I think I will backtrack a bit to build up either levels or uh. Licenses.

SO. SEVERAL HOURS (okay, probably only about two) OF GRINDING LATER…

We are back! AND FIGHTING FOR OUR LIIIIVES attack attaaaaaaack I do not want to die again.

Kiiiill. Heeeeeaaaal. Kiiiiiiiill. … Goodbye, Balthier. I know not where you have gone, only that you cannot be brought back until after the fight is over. Augh!

Augh! I do not know why I just swapped in Penelo. Ashe is a higher level. Penelo has more Quickenings? SERIOUSLY I DO NOT KNOW I AM TOO BUSY GOING “AAAAUGH I CANNOT READ THAT FAST” AND SPAMMING BUTTONS TRYING TO MAKE THEM ATTACK.

Oh god Dx the back wall is so close. We are going to die again. I do not want to die ag-! CRUMBLEDEATH. Goodbye, wall. I will not miss you.

Run away and save!

Okay, we’re back at the door. There was a glowing thing that did nothing when Fran poked it between here and the exit. Now I am at an Ancient Door. Hello, door.

Oh, come on! WALL. IT IS SO MUCH EASIER TO NOT MISS YOU WHEN YOU DON’T COME RIGHT THE HELL BACK.

WHAT IS THIS SERIOUSLY.

YES, FRAN, THE WALL WAS ALSO COMING FIVE MINUTES AGO. WHY DID YOU NOT SAY ANYTHING THEN? AAAUGH WALL.

GO AWAY.

… Woah. This wall is way slower, and there’s a progress bar on the side of the screen. (Okay, maybe that was there last time and I was to busy not dying to notice it.)

…… That last wall was optional, wasn’t it? I kind of wondered, with that little, ‘decide fast! Fight or run!’ thing. … Hopefully I get something cool eventually for that? MAN.

Quickenings are easier this time. Probably because, you know, not my first time trying to use them this time.

…. Okay, seriously, wall, that was pathetic. Your relative back through that door was much more challenging that you.

NOW WE GO AND SAVE AGAAAAAIN. Yay, saving!

Hey, cool! The glowy jewel in the wall did something! Now I have staircases to explore down. … Lots of staircases. And none of this is on my maaaaap. MINIMAP. WHY HAVE YOU DESERTED ME.

So, here in the land of NO MAP WHY, we have…. Stairs.

Staaairs. And bats! And then more stairs.

And fire-slime things. Oooh. And treasure! Cool. I got a sword. Hello, sword. BASCH CAN YOU USE THIS? Ooh, you can. Awesom---woah. That’s got like 30 more attack than your current one. Sweet!

AND NOW MORE STAIRS (going up now!) AND MORE BATS! And, oh, I’ve come back around to the other side! So both paths take me to the same place.

Which is a bit disappointing and boring, but it does save time.

It is pretty cool to have someone else with a decent weapon now, though… (The only person I’ve bought a weapon for at all recently is Fran, because her bow was too outdated and because I like having someone with a ranged attack in my party, so I wasn’t going to switch her to melee. And because I’m too broke from buying all the spells to be able to afford much in the way of weapons.) (Maybe if there had been another path, there would have been another awesome weapon! Maybe it would have been something cool.)

…Wanna know another way FFXI has skewed how I play this game? I always have to control the person at the top of the party list. In Vana’diel, the top of the party members list is where [your name] always places, so I get confused when I play anyone who is not top of the list. This means if Vaan is in my party, I control Vaan. If Vaan is not in my party and Balthier is, I control Balthier. If Fran is in my party and neither Vaan nor Balthier are in my party, I control Fran. If none of them were in my party, I’d control Basch (because then I’d be left with only Basch, Ashe, and Penelo. Unless I wanted to have a party of two or less).

Seriously, don’t play Final Fantasy XI if you want to be able to play Final Fantasy XII the way a relatively normal and sane person would.

And that is all for now. It is short, but I've not been well, and I'm exhausted and going to bed.

In a minute.

Speaking of XI, the BCNM runs went…. slightly better today. On my – uh, second? – orb of the day, we got both a Peacock Charm and a scroll of Utsusemi: Ni. (That’s about 2 million gil.) I got to hold the scroll. o__o But I did not get to use it. It’s up on the auction house. SORROW.
